I had bought one of the ironing mats that attaches to the dryer top with magnets, and it was a disappointment. The wrinkles never came out of it, and it was too thin. The wool mat is wonderful. I ordered a size to fit on my sewing machine cabinet right by my machine, and it is perfect for ironing seams when sewing. The wool ironing mat arrived well-packed, and it has been a great addition to my sewing accessories.

I researched this product and read many reviews. Not all reviews were great on the web, but I decided to take a chance. VERY glad I did. It is thick, so the surface beneath the pad does not get too hot (I still wouldnt do it on a nice dining table though), and any steam seems to evaporate out nicely. I have mine on a small workshop stand with a particle board top and it works very well. Obviously, its not large enough for pressing clothes - this is for the quilter/sewer.

Had been tempted to buy one of these for a long time, but the price always put me off. I finally succumbed after seeing all the great reviews and Im so glad I did! Wrinkles and creases just seem to vanish and its great to have set up near my machine when Im piecing. Has reduced the pressing time as both sides are done at once. Very pleased with the performance and have found it to be well worth the money.

Have been using this while quilting and love it. It is true that the heat stays in while pressing and love that you can see yourself in a little corner with sewing machine and iron. Loved it so much, I got one for all 3 of my sisters.

Love this mat!! And a great value. I quilt and have used this mat since the day it arrived. Excellent quality and thickness. Perfect size - I like this size much better than the smaller ones because it if more versatile. Thick enough that I can iron right on my counter top or sewing/cutting table without worrying about damaging the surface underneath. (I don’t use steam in my iron, I use a spray bottle of water as needed to press my blocks and laundered material.).

I have debated getting one of these, wondering if it was just another gimmick. The size of this one appealed to me as I have a small home/sewing area and this would fit great in space available. Tried it as soon as it arrived and i love it. The seams in my blocks pressed just beautifully. I noticed a great improvement with this as opposed to the ironing board. I will be recommending this to all my quilting friends.

I bought this wool mat to replace a Steady Betty I purchased to press quilt-as-you-go blocks. I was not happy with the foam surface on the Steady Betty and while it is great to hold quilt block pieces to see how they work together, the foam is such that it is not suitable as an ironing surface (we felt it might melt). I love this small 13.5 square wool mat. It is perfect to use with my miniature iron to press quilt-as-as you blocks.

I got this in January and had no issues when ironing seams and small blocks. When I decided to make masks to help protect my family and friends, I ran into problems making bias tape. With my prior ironing boards, I could run my iron along the bias tape as it came out if my bias tape maker, and iron the creases down. When I did that with this mat, the cotton setting on my iron must be too hot. The wool charred orange (and damaged the cotton I was using) and most alarmingly, left sticky black residue on my (T-Fal) iron. I spent 4 hours the next day cleaning the plate of my iron (not making masks). I went back to my mask making, tossing the fabric I’d been using (hey, I’m working through stash fabric, maybe I was mistaken about fiber content) and switched to new fabric that I knew was 100% cotton. Within moments, I could tell by the smell that the same thing was happening! I spent another couple hours cleaning off the black, gooey mess. I cleaned every inch of that iron. Maybe something got in the steam tank? Did a vinegar rinse. Maybe something was stuck in the iron plate? I cleaned and rinsed everything. Took my iron upstairs, flipped my wool pad to the other side.... and immediately started picking up sticky gunk and fuzz from my wool mat. I’m so disappointed. No matter how convenient, this isn’t worth ruining fabric and my iron (but at this point, I had to use abrasive cleaners on my iron - which has performed beautifully for 15 years - so I may have to replace it because the coating is now in bad shape in places.) Can I still return this pad?
