I purchased used from the Amazon warehouse. The monitor arrived in retail packaging that had been taped back up. All of the contents were there. All manufacturers shipping foam and protection was there. The only problem was the speakers in the monitor are dead. The product was listed as in good used condition. Thats why I took one star off. Item was not as described.

Screen looks beautiful, when hooked up with Displayport runs great at 1440p at 144Hz, G-Sync compatibility works, etc., etc. Its just a damn good LG screen, not much more to say about it in that regard. Only complaint, and why Im knocking off a star, is the stand sits very tall. My desk has a monitor shelf, so the lowest height of the stand means the screen is way too high. I had to get a monitor arm just to get it lower. If your desk is low enough I highly doubt this would be a problem, and for a lot of people I imagine if it is youd just do what I do and get/already have a monitor arm anyways. Nothing changes the panel itself is fantastic, it has a standard VESA mount so you can avoid the stand, so I definitely recommend it. The Windows software for the OSD is great (Any chance of a Linux version, LG? No? Welp, ok.), too.

I normally stick to Acer monitors but took a chance on these based on the positive reviews. My setup required 3 identical monitors and most of the CONS below are based on the suitability for my needs. The short power cord is very disappointing with a design that does not permit you to replace the power cord. PROS: - Slim bevel edge - Great responsiveness for gaming CONS: - Very short power cord (no simple replacement possible for the power brick) and it is never recommended to use an extension cord for monitors. - Alignment for multiple monitors is clumsy and will leave a gap. - Adjustable height starts at 4.5 inches above the desktop which is twice what my other monitors required. Recommended monitor settings found online will help make the most of the initial setup: MONITOR Game Mode Profile: • Gamer 1 Game Adjust: • Adaptive-Sync : On • Black Stabilizer : 40 (reduced from default of 50 as it helped make blacks more black instead of grey) • Response Time : Fast Picture Adjust: • Brightness : 30-40 (reduced from default of 100) • Contrast : 70 (default) • Sharpness : 50 (default) • Gamma : Mode 2 (default) • Color Temp : Custom (default) • R/G/B : 54/48/50 (these made the picture feel a little warmer than the default of 50/50/50 but I still tinker with them every now and again and these are more your personal taste on how warm/cold you like your whites and colours) • DFC : Off (default) General: • Smart Energy Saving : Off (change from On) • Power LED : On (this lights up the joystick under the front bezel) • Automatic Standby : 8h • Displayport 1.4 : Enable

I upgraded from an Acer ED273 which I had since August 2019. I liked that old monitor well enough - except it had a backlight flickering problem I could never fix. After plenty of research I decided this one was the adequate upgraded replacment. I ordered it as used - like new from a seller, and got what Im pretty sure was more or less a brand-new monitor, with a very good panel at that. Even lighting and very little backlight bleed - a HUGE improvement from the Acer one. I would of course expect that at roughly $150-$200 more expensive. The colors are beautiful - though the reds are somewhat oversaturated. This monitor does tend to overblow most colors, but doesnt really bother me much. Its only red that looks nutso to me! The 144hz refresh rate and 4k resolution are a treat to the eyes. It was easy to set up and feels sturdy - though I am using a third party desk mount arm rather than the stock stand. The VESA mount seems strong and I looove the control stick for navigating the settings menu - the old Acer one had an INFURIATING control stick that, on several occasions, left me wanting to bite the monitor clean in half. I cant even describe how beautiful and responsive this one is compared to the garbage crap on the Acer ED273! I will be updating this review as monitor use progresses over the years to keep up with wear-and-tear and overall lifetime of the device. I know, initially, I am STOKED to have this beauty! I can hardly wait to really sit and play games on it - I only tested some 4k gameplay video in the mean time, which looked amazing!

    Greater than one week

Went from a 24 inch curved monitor @ 1080p & 144hz to this. Took a few days to adjust going from curved to flat screen but after about 3 days I was used to it. I was comparing many monitors before purchasing this one and Im glad I did. Only thing I wish this monitor could do is being able to turn the brightness even lower.

Dont know what to tell you. Runs perfectly fine with no ghosting while gaming. Since it is my first monitor, I cannot not tell you if it is worth like $250-300 (when I got it). But, it is definitely a worthy contender if youre not a competitive player and just want to enjoy the scenery. Quick reminder: if you want to have 144 fps, you should first check in your settings under Display.

I purchased this monitor after returning two Gigabyte M27q monitors (both with dead pixels) and one MSI Optix 274QRF (for bad backlight bleeding). I was planning on buying another MSI Optix 274QRF after trading in the defective one, until someone on line at Microcenter told me they had backlight bleed with the exact same monitor in the exact same spot. The color accuracy on the MSI also left something to be desired and the BGR panel in the Gigabyte monitor looked terrible when plugged into a Mac. Although the M27q and 274QRF are better than this LG monitor in terms of specs, and cost a good bit less, LG’s quality control is worth the lower specs and increased price. It’d be nice if the contract ratio on this monitor was a bit better and the price was a bit lower, but I’m more than happy with the monitor. I only wish I had purchased this first instead of buying and returning three defective monitors from Gigabyte and MSI.

Ive really enjoyed this monitor so far. I was experiencing some screen splitting issues when playing on my PC with my previous monitor (max 60Hz refresh rate), and switching to this monitor immediately fixed that issue. I like that its QHD, and the quality and sharpness of the picture is solid. The only minor complaint I have is that its a bit finnicky getting the proper balance of brightness and contrast to convey atmosphere in darker environments without completely stripping out the details in darker areas of a map. But its not so terrible that Im not able to find a balance that works. One issue that isnt so much related to gaming is that its spotty in its support for certain docking stations (or any other non-direct connection). I, like many others, have recently had to WFH full-time, and if I try to use this monitor with a Dell docking station, theres an annoying brightness flicker on the screen. A support agent told me this is a known issue and that direct connections are recommended/preferred. Not a dealbreaker, but I figured its worth mentioning to anyone looking at this monitor.

Monitor is awesome, Im currently using NVIDIA GTX1060 3GB GPU will upgrade to RTX 3070 when Available, in any case I am using display port and its operating at 144HZ. Everything is crisp and clear after adjusting some setting on NVidia control panel, ****IMPORTANT NOTE **** the display port cable has a hard to notice button nob, you need to press that button to remove cable from the Monitor and PC otherwise you may break it pulling/yanking it out, I remember someone writing a review on that matter stating it broke inside his monitor. I had same issue pulling it out at first, I heard faint snap noise as if under pressure, so closer inspection on cable I saw the black button nob. once I pressed it, the cable pulled out with ease. looking on the bottom side of display port you will see the 2 teeth that locks it into place, In my opinion a STUPID DESIGN. I will leave this at 5 star rating since Im reviewing the quality of monitor (5), Cable a (3 star) because of design.

EDIT: I bought a second 27GL850-B manufactured 7/2021 as used like new (it was brand new in a damaged box, 0 hours power on time). Its great to have matching monitors for work, and it says a lot about the quality of this panel that I bought a second. Pros: Well reviewed panel, Freesync works on Nvidia/Intel now + low framerate compensation means the display doesnt tear below 48 FPS, ICC profiles exist for download (TFT Central), only needed minor tweaks out of box to make the display really pop, panel supports 10 bit, display is light - perfect for VESA mounting. Backlight bleed is minimal, very pleasant surprise. Movies and Youtube look fine on this gaming display, just a shame that 1440p/4k havent began to replace 1080p video as default. Amazon doing monthly payments on this is a great deal. Cons: I had to exchange the first panel I received. First panel had one dead pixel out of the box, and the vertical edges of the display were much dimmer than the rest of the screen on light backgrounds. Replacement panel is fine. USB hub on the monitor is unpowered, limiting what can be plugged into it. Very odd choice by LG to save a few cents on the USB hub, my Logitech G910 keyboard wouldnt even power up connected to it - HDR on this screen is terrible, leave it off. Notes: The USB hub is used for firmware upgrades - keep the cable handy no matter how useless the USB hub is. I upgraded from an Asus ROG Swift PG278QR - that display came with about 5 dead pixels and always looked washed out. It also has a firmware bug that affects the display, and backlight bleed was an issue too. And it even cost more than this LG panel! The LG 27GL850 is a huge upgrade in quality! Watch some reviews before you buy - Hardware Unboxed goes over this display very nicely. This monitor uses DisplayPort 1.4 - you may need to update the firmware of your graphics card to support it or you will not have POST/boot output on the screen. Nvidia has a download for updating older cards - I had a 1080 Ti when I bought my first LG and it was painless to run the upgrade. If you cannot upgrade, you can change the monitor to DP 1.1 or 1.2 via the on screen menu. Im still trying to find the optimal brightness - TFT Central recommends brightness of 23 with a boost to red - it was too dim and way too red, so Im guessing LG has adjusted out-of-the-box calibration on these panels since launching them. To enable 10 bit support, use the Nvidia control panel (or AMDs equivalent) and leave HDR off in Windows. My current display calibration: Gamer 1, Adaptive Sync On, Response Time Fast, Brightness 35, Contrast 70, Gamma Mode 2, Color Temp Custom, RGB all 50, DFC Off, Smart Energy Saving Off. Im using the TFT Central ICC profile in Windows 11.

Immerse yourself in your favorite games with this fast IPS monitor featuring a 1ms (GtG) response time, wide viewing angles, and high color accuracy with sRGB 99%. See moving objects on the screen more clearly with a high native 144 Hz refresh rate and 1ms Motion Blur Reduction. NVIDIA G-SYNC support virtually eliminates screen tearing and minimize stutter in high-resolution and fast-paced games for a fast and fluid gaming experience with supported video cards. Dynamic Action Sync reduces input lag and elevates your gameplay, allowing you to respond to your opponents quickly, while Black Stabilizer allows you to see them more clearly in the dark. Use the Crosshair feature for enhanced vision and precision in first-person shooters. Adjust the tilt, height, and pivot for the best ergonomics, ensuring that you have the most comfortable viewing position to play your games.
