Screen looks beautiful, when hooked up with Displayport runs great at 1440p at 144Hz, G-Sync compatibility works, etc., etc. Its just a damn good LG screen, not much more to say about it in that regard. Only complaint, and why Im knocking off a star, is the stand sits very tall. My desk has a monitor shelf, so the lowest height of the stand means the screen is way too high. I had to get a monitor arm just to get it lower. If your desk is low enough I highly doubt this would be a problem, and for a lot of people I imagine if it is youd just do what I do and get/already have a monitor arm anyways. Nothing changes the panel itself is fantastic, it has a standard VESA mount so you can avoid the stand, so I definitely recommend it. The Windows software for the OSD is great (Any chance of a Linux version, LG? No? Welp, ok.), too.

The monitor is good. Good picture quality, good color accuracy, good viewing angles, good refresh rate, and its easy to configure, with two custom profiles and a number of built-in profile. The gray-to-gray (G2G) response time is pretty good (though not 1 ms as advertised unless you want lots of reverse ghosting artifacts). The stand is also quite good, and if you dont like it, you can use your own. I love this thing! But it could be better. There is only one DisplayPort input. Normally this wouldnt be a big deal, but the monitors refresh rate is capped at 100 Hz (1440p) or 120 Hz (1080p) when using HDMI if you have FreeSync on. At the very least, you can disable FreeSync on the HDMI ports and just have DisplayPort Adaptive-Sync on, since the variable refresh rate setting is per-input rather than per-profile. Also, the audio quality that comes through the built-in 3.5 mm headphone jack is awful. Everything sounds like extremely compressed MP3, and even someones with not-the-greatest-hearing like me could tell this. Many devices have built-in audio jacks (most computers, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch), but some dont (PS5, DVD players, etc.) and rely on the HDMI audio. Either way, having to unplug and plug in things when switching inputs can be annoying. All-in-all, its a REALLY good monitor, but these caveats make it hard to recommend to just anyone. Of course, some of these caveats may not even apply to everyone. If you just have just one PC connected to it, you use DisplayPort, and you plug your speakers into the PC rather than the monitor, this monitor will easily be a 5/5 experience for you. Its a very high quality display, and LG did an great job with it. But if you have to use several devices, its a 3/5 experience.

Overall so far I’ve had no issues with this monitor! I’ve used it heavily since I bought it and I love the picture quality and color right out of the box! I do feel it could be a bit brighter if a display but just adjust that yourself in the settings and done! I got this on sale and honestly if I could afford to buy more I would!

LG has certainly set the bar here with these monitors for both quality and price. I think a lot of people will be debating the LG 27GL83A-B and the LG 27GL850-B; I’ve had both and I immediately knew the decision was to keep the LG 27GL850-B. I was blown away when first viewing images on the 27GL850 when comparing to a TN panel, and this was not something that I felt with the 27GL83A at all. My specific unit has no noticeable IPS glow (orange tint) and has very minimal back light bleed that would only be noticeable in a completely dark room. Compared to its lower priced counterpart, I think the Nano IPS display makes a world of difference for quality and the ability to reduce that IPS glow and back light bleed. Blacks are deeper and more consistent on the 27GL850A and colors really pop on the wide color gamut panel. Pros: + 1440p @ 144 Hz + Good viewing angles + Gsync certified and Adaptive-Sync ready + Supports wide color gamut and provides a very good sRGB emulation profile for those that do not like the saturated look + Nano IPS provides decent black levels for IPS panel standards + No IPS glow visible to eye (specific to my monitor) + Very minimal back light bleed (specific to my monitor) Cons: - Advertised 1ms (you’ll need to select the “fastest” response time setting, but you greatly sacrifice quality for minimal benefit) - Contrast level is lacking due to panel technology - Stand is on the cheaper side - HDR support is a gimmick (can accept HDR signal but this monitor only has a 350 nits level)

I bought this 5/6/22 and on 5/5/22 the screen went black. My pc acknowledged the monitor was there and was treating it as such. I changed my DP cable with another then HDMI and used different ports. I contacted LG on 6/6/22 and they had to deny me of service because i didnt have ANOTHER compatible computer to test it on. when I had a 15yr old pc with an HDMI and a adapter for DP. I called Amazon 20 minutes after and they warrantied it out even tho it was pass the Amazon warranty. Guess what?, It works.. LG and their smarty pants Indian tech support can shove it. I built my gaming PC with amazon parts and Youtube. If i can rebuild engines and gut the inside of your car and make it better than the factory then i can build and understand electronics. Maybe LG tech support shouldnt pre-judge ppl who are asking them for advice.

What I liked: + Great response times: I dont think anyone is going to miss their 144hz TN panel after using this. + Near perfect gamma 2.2 tracking on default gamma 2 mode + Average Delta-E around 1.5: not bad + Amazing color gradient handling when set to 10bit mode + No BLB or dead pixels What I disliked: - Default whitepoint is too cool (measured 7200K) and none of the provided modes gave an actual 6500K. Luckily, with a colorimeter in-hand (Colormunki Display) I was able to calibrate to 6500K with minimal loss of contrast by adjusting the RGB gains. - IPS glow isnt any better than my old IPS monitors. Youd think now that tablet and laptop IPS panels have mostly resolved this issue that monitor panels would do that too. Other notes - Contrast measured at 870:1, a bit low for an IPS panel although I cannot subjectively notice a difference in black levels compared to my other IPS monitor that measured 1150:1. If youre looking for deeper blacks youre better off with a 3000:1 VA. - Gamma mode 2 is the only gamma mode that was calibrated at the factory. Changing the gamma mode to modes 1,3, or 4 resulted in a white point of 6300K, contrast ratio increased to 1060:1, however the gamma tracking is really bad on these modes. - Gamma mode 1 results in an approx gamma of 2.0, mode 3 is approx gamma 2.5, mode 4 is approx gamma 2.3, but again the gamma curves on these modes are messed up and do not conform closely to these numbers so I ended up using gamma mode 2 and just correcting the white point.

I am not an expert but l enjoy the picture quality for my purpose. I have it connected to my gaming laptop but have not played any games yet. But the games on youtube are nice and realistic. 1080,2k,4k,8k videos are nice and colorful. It fulfills my needs especially for the price l paid.....

Ive only had this monitor for about a week but I feel like I have had enough time to make up my mind about it. I came from the VG248QE(TN panel) and immediately I could tell that the colors were a vibrant beauty and not at all saturated... except for the color red which is a little bit redder than it should be and thus caused Caucasians to have a little pink tint on them( you could say they are colored now, so its a welcome change of pace). The change from 1080p to 1440p was also something instantly noticeable. Free sync works great with my AMD GPU. HDR Effect feels like my eyes are getting attacked by a box of crayons, it not bright enough and it doesnt have local dimming so steer away from this if you want True HDR. As a competitive gamer I can without a shadow of a doubt say that the 144hz is giving me a gaming edge in Solitaire and Minesweeper. Unlike other gaming monitors this one didnt go with the disgusting tootsie roll RGB gamer aesthetic. Build feels and looks premium. The stand is metal and the monitor is plastic, but it feels like quality plastic, if you know what I mean. NSFW content looks great too but youll have to shill out cash to see content in 1440p. All in all, great monitor I recommend it!

Firstly sorry for not having any pictures but I want to keep this brief. (27GL850-B) Pros: The monitor is amazing, the nano IPS display is beautiful, vibrant, bright and responsive. The 144hz refresh rate is great. The monitor comes with a lot of features such as free sync and even has the official G-sync compatibility sticker if you have an Nvidia video card. The UI is very simple and easy to use/navigate with the nipple styled button. Con: The stand is fairly wobbly but I never planned to keep using even before purchasing the monitor. I highly recommend getting something like the NB North Bayou Monitor Desk Mount Stand its perfect for a monitor like this and around $30 most of the time. The HDR is well. I wouldnt use it Ive only tried it once and well clearly this isnt a display you should be using for HDR. That aside the only thing better than this monitor is either the newer version which is 165hz or the at the moment of writing this review the unreleased OLED 240hz display.

Out of the box, the colors and contrast were dreadful. Everything looked extremely washed out. I went through all the different menu options and nvidia settings and was able to look it somewhat better, but was honestly going to return it because my old 1080p 60hz TV that I was using as a monitor just looked far, far better which was sad because I thought the improved resolution and refresh rate would result in a vastly superior experience. So I was digging around online and I came across a few people talking about changing the color calibration. I checked rtings score for the monitor (much like other sites, this monitor has a fantastic rating on rtings) and I saw that the out-of-the-box color calibration was terrible but after calibration it looks fantastic. I ended up loading the color calibration profile that rtings provided and the difference was like night and day. Colors became a LOT more accurate and the contrast was vastly improved. The blacks and whites still arent perfect, but it no longer looks like the entire screen is covered by a gray plastic screen. After tinkering with the settings for HOURS (with color profiles, the monitors menu settings, and nvidia settings) I finally have the monitor looking good but it took way more work than it should have.

Immerse yourself in your favorite games with this fast IPS monitor featuring a 1ms (GtG) response time, wide viewing angles, and high color accuracy with sRGB 99%.
