Ive really enjoyed this monitor so far. I was experiencing some screen splitting issues when playing on my PC with my previous monitor (max 60Hz refresh rate), and switching to this monitor immediately fixed that issue. I like that its QHD, and the quality and sharpness of the picture is solid. The only minor complaint I have is that its a bit finnicky getting the proper balance of brightness and contrast to convey atmosphere in darker environments without completely stripping out the details in darker areas of a map. But its not so terrible that Im not able to find a balance that works. One issue that isnt so much related to gaming is that its spotty in its support for certain docking stations (or any other non-direct connection). I, like many others, have recently had to WFH full-time, and if I try to use this monitor with a Dell docking station, theres an annoying brightness flicker on the screen. A support agent told me this is a known issue and that direct connections are recommended/preferred. Not a dealbreaker, but I figured its worth mentioning to anyone looking at this monitor.

LG has certainly set the bar here with these monitors for both quality and price. I think a lot of people will be debating the LG 27GL83A-B and the LG 27GL850-B; I’ve had both and I immediately knew the decision was to keep the LG 27GL850-B. I was blown away when first viewing images on the 27GL850 when comparing to a TN panel, and this was not something that I felt with the 27GL83A at all. My specific unit has no noticeable IPS glow (orange tint) and has very minimal back light bleed that would only be noticeable in a completely dark room. Compared to its lower priced counterpart, I think the Nano IPS display makes a world of difference for quality and the ability to reduce that IPS glow and back light bleed. Blacks are deeper and more consistent on the 27GL850A and colors really pop on the wide color gamut panel. Pros: + 1440p @ 144 Hz + Good viewing angles + Gsync certified and Adaptive-Sync ready + Supports wide color gamut and provides a very good sRGB emulation profile for those that do not like the saturated look + Nano IPS provides decent black levels for IPS panel standards + No IPS glow visible to eye (specific to my monitor) + Very minimal back light bleed (specific to my monitor) Cons: - Advertised 1ms (you’ll need to select the “fastest” response time setting, but you greatly sacrifice quality for minimal benefit) - Contrast level is lacking due to panel technology - Stand is on the cheaper side - HDR support is a gimmick (can accept HDR signal but this monitor only has a 350 nits level)

I dont think Ive ever 5 stard anything on every aspect before, let me get to the point: if you are using an old TN led monitor, you will be blown away, period. I do not have the hardware to run over 60hz, and only 1 of the 2 panels my gpu can handle 10bit the other runs at 8bit. I didnt notice much at first in game other than larger screen area due to 1080p->1440p, I alt tabbed and put a video full screen and told my friend i might cry its so beautiful and vivid, and that was only a 1080p@30 video upscaled. As I cant speak to the >60hz due to HW limitations its not an entire review, however Im still happy I switched to ips, it even has a better contrast ratio than my old old 1080p leds. Notes: cables are dumb short. If you dont have your pc almost literally next to it, get a 6-10 dp 1.4 vesa certified cable, or hdmi depending on your preference. The power cord is on the short side too i had to squeeze my surge protector behind my desk. Not sure whats up with all these short cables when management is easy even with 2ms. Ill update if i ever get new HW to fully run these at their potential

i use my display a lot both professionally and for recreation. the LG 27GL850-B has some real nice options and color reproduction and brightness, but the IPS panel has some minor bleed you cant get away with and uniformity across the panel has an extreme variation of about 9% from the lower left corner to the middle of the right hand side of the screen. during black moments, this is noticeable, especially in a room without lights, but i keep a dim light on and usually have something on display, so it isnt noticed at all. the swivel adjustment is incredibly stiff and not worth hassling over. the stand is slim and out of the way with a cable keeper that is convenient to tie cables too for tidiness. the screen itself has a non-reflection coating and a bezel about 2.5mm thick which isnt terrible. brightness is over 700 nits (!) which is great if you want a bright screen for movies and stuff. the g-sync module in it works great too, and matches up over displayport perfectly (but not HDMI for some reason). the display is HDR10 capable (10 bit color) and has a gamma of around 2.25. paper white is about 320 nits. the USB ports on the back are at right angles to the display and are easy to get to, but a pain if you have short cables - i would much prefer them on the lower edge of the display like what Dell does. the built-in USB ports are USB 3.1 rated, but you only get two of them. overall very happy with the display!

I normally stick to Acer monitors but took a chance on these based on the positive reviews. My setup required 3 identical monitors and most of the CONS below are based on the suitability for my needs. The short power cord is very disappointing with a design that does not permit you to replace the power cord. PROS: - Slim bevel edge - Great responsiveness for gaming CONS: - Very short power cord (no simple replacement possible for the power brick) and it is never recommended to use an extension cord for monitors. - Alignment for multiple monitors is clumsy and will leave a gap. - Adjustable height starts at 4.5 inches above the desktop which is twice what my other monitors required. Recommended monitor settings found online will help make the most of the initial setup: MONITOR Game Mode Profile: • Gamer 1 Game Adjust: • Adaptive-Sync : On • Black Stabilizer : 40 (reduced from default of 50 as it helped make blacks more black instead of grey) • Response Time : Fast Picture Adjust: • Brightness : 30-40 (reduced from default of 100) • Contrast : 70 (default) • Sharpness : 50 (default) • Gamma : Mode 2 (default) • Color Temp : Custom (default) • R/G/B : 54/48/50 (these made the picture feel a little warmer than the default of 50/50/50 but I still tinker with them every now and again and these are more your personal taste on how warm/cold you like your whites and colours) • DFC : Off (default) General: • Smart Energy Saving : Off (change from On) • Power LED : On (this lights up the joystick under the front bezel) • Automatic Standby : 8h • Displayport 1.4 : Enable

I picked up one of these in 2020 and absolutely love it! The colors are very important to me for print and photo work. The contrast is excellent as well. Its been a fantastic monitor, Id buy a secod one in a heart beat if I needed one.

This and the 27GL83-B are two incredible monitors, the difference being mainly only in a slightly wider color gamut and the inclusion of 2 USB ports on the GL850-B. For the price, you get a quality IPS monitor with 144 Hz refresh rate, adaptive sync (both Freesync and Gsync compatible), and a fast response time. The IPS panel suffers from lower contrast ratio you might find on higher end models and those using even average TN panels, but the colors really pop (the advantage of IPS). It has wide viewing angles (another feature of IPS panels) but for computer monitors viewing angles are not nearly as critical and should be low on your list of features. I took off one star because the monitor claims HDR 400 but HDR 400 is basically nonusable, the HDR performance on this monitor is mediocre at best and I just leave it off and I am happier with the colors and overall experience. Pros - IPS panel for great colors - 144 Hz refresh rate - Adaptive Sync - Price point for these feature sets Cons - Poor HDR performance

I wish it had built in speakers but besides that I love it. Bring it bright light doesn’t make it hard to see and the screen itself is beautiful

pretty good 1440p monitor, got mine on sale for 345$ and at that price it was likely the one of best 1440p monitors available. coming from a asus 144hz TN panel this ips panels colors while saturated are quite nice after calibrating and the 144hz display is very nice cons: this is my second gl850, first one i returned after it developed a nasty coil whine when displaying certain colors at 144hz amazon sent me a new one very quickly and without issue. the monitor stand it quite possibly the worst stand ive ever seen.
