After my old Acers died, I decided it was time to step it up to 1080P. However, even for someone that has worked with computers for nearly 25 years; monitors are extremely difficult to buy. In fact, it took me 3 weeks to finally pull the trigger on a pair of these VX2452MHs over the equivilent Asus, Acer, and BenQ low response gaming monitors. On to the review, which is going to be short, from a dual-screen perspective, and about 3 days of usage. I’m going to try to answer questions that I initially asked myself about the screens as part of the review. Additionally, I’m not using the 2W speakers and I immediately mounted these guys to a dual-screen stand, bypassing the unadjustable OEM stands. So, are they easy to setup? Very easy, my screens are currently connected to my PC via DVI, and the visual quality of these monitors is indeed stunning right out of the box. Just to note, inserting the cables can be a bit of a pain because you have to *lightly* push down on the plastic back to get the connectors to plugin; so make sure to take your time with the external setup. Once powered on, the screen takes 2 seconds to turn on, and they are very bright, so make sure to turn them down a bit. How about dead pixels? I bought two screens and neither had any dead pixels. Is it a glossy screen? Nope, its also an anti-glare screen. How about the buttons and menu? The control buttons sits under the right bottom edge of the monitor and the menu is very functional, easy to read, and every setting is adjustable – even the response time. That’s nice, but are they good for PC gaming? To be completely honest with you, the screens are so good that you don’t have to adjust any setting other than the brightness. When you switch over to ‘game mode’ the response shoots down to 2MS and there is absolutely zero ghosting in games such as BF4, Terraria, and Left 4 Dead 2 at 1080P/60hz. I plan to try GTAV, and Shadow of Mordor as soon as I have a chance to download them again, but I’m sure they’ll be even more stunning than before. My end goal is to manually adjust the screens, but I havent had the need as of yet. So you really like them? Yes, for the price tag versus performance they are excellent. You won’t be able to get a better 24 Inch LED TN panel at this price outside of Black Friday. In my opinion, ViewSonic did an excellent job making sure these killer screens were well worth the price tag. Just keep in mind that these are GAMING monitors, so people looking to buy these for web design, video editing, and photo shop may have a different opinion. I suspect a lot of the lower star reviews are non-gaming reviews.

Update 2: Submitted the paperwork required to get it replaced via ViewSonic warranty program. The process required several emails back and forth and was kinda confusing but overall, ViewSonic reps were quick to respond to my emails and answer my questions. They sent me a new monitor and then I used the same box and packaging to return the old monitor. The only part that made me uneasy was that they require your cc number incase you do not return the old monitor or if they decide it is not covered under warranty (which is understandable). However, what bothered me is they never acknowledged that they received the new monitor. Tracking clearly said they got it but after several emails, they never would admit that they got it and I was in the clear. All I want is closure and a statement that the process is complete (and my card will not be charged). All in all though, I am happy with my new monitor and very happy that they followed through on their warranty. It seems that most companies find any excuse to not follow through. Update: Submitted a RMA request as instructed by the manufacturer and am currently waiting to hear back. Great monitor for the price, however, within a month of having it, a cluster of pixels have died in the center of the monitor, leaving an obnoxious white spot that you cant get rid of. Considering how fast it appeared, I imagine more will be on their way out soon.

This is a real review from Chicago Illinois. I bought x2 of these monitors on November 8, 2020, and today is March 31, 2022. One of these monitors functions well, the second one started to develop dead pixels around the 5th/6th month, which later turned into complete vertical dead lines. Now, a year and a half later, there are x6 fully dead vertical lines on the screen in various spots. So if you are thinking about buying one of these, you have about a 50% chance of getting a bad one. If I had to do it again, I would go with a different monitor.

I was disappointed that the monitor did not come with HDMI cables. When using these monitors with a laptop, most docking stations offer HDMI connection, some offer PC VGA connection, but none offer DVI connection. I know that DVI and HDMI are essentially the same except DVI does not include sound. Manufacturer should include HDMI cables for a more universal connection method. Picture quality is good, but the settings screens are cumbersome to use, and you have to be careful which buttons you push, or the monitor will disconnect from the docking station and have to reconnect itself.

I really like this monitor. I needed a monitor with integrated speaker, because I dont have external speakers with my computer (and I dont want them). So I was concerned when I read some of the reviews that said the sound was not good. I havent found that to be the case at all. In fact, I think the sound is a bit better than my old monitor. I did discover that the factory setting was only at 50%, but I raised it up to 100% with the button on the bottom of the monitor, and of course I can still adjust the sound in the normal way with the speaker icon, so Im happy with the sound. Im also happy with the size of the monitor and with the image clarity, etc. And setting it up was super easy, which is important to me, because Im no techie. So this monitor is working out very well for me. Glad I bought it.

As a digital artist and a gamer, choosing a good monitor is important. I have heard good things about the brand, and this monitor has not disappointed. The color is exactly what it should be (this is after calibration, of course) and the brightness can be adjusted quite extensively. Also, as a gamer, the monitor resolution is important so that the image is not distorted or limited. a 1080x1920 resolution is typically the highest resolution games support, even some games that go back over five years. The Game Mode feature is fantastic. I have had instances with very dark areas in games that this has helped me in, and it works well. Now for the bad. First off, the speakers are terrible for anything. I simply do not even bother using them at all. The included stand is a little bit wobbly, but you would need a very shaky desk for it to be a problem. Finally, the menu for adjusting monitor setting (this is built into the monitor, not part of Microsoft Windows) is difficult to navigate, and I have run into instances where I get stuck in a sub-menu and cannot navigate out. Also, the buttons are sharp and not very pleasant to press, but its easy to tell which button is which. All in all, I think this was a great purchase. I would definitely recommend it to a friend. I would like to see ViewSonic build upon the results of this monitor and further improve it, but I dont think Ill be in the market for a new monitor for a while, unless of course I get a second one to duel-screen with, in which case, Ill probably get another of these.

I set this monitor up next to my Viewsonic VX2235wm which is about 10 years old. My older monitor is the clear winner. LED is one of the tech worlds latest buzzwords but Im not buying it as an improvement in overall technology. Yes, LED monitors use about 25% less energy than older CCFL LCDs, but is saving that little bit of energy really worth it if your picture is worse than 10 year old technology?. By the way, the change from CCFL to LED is a very small change in energy conservation when you compare the change that took place when CRT monitors were replaced with LCD technology. That was a huge step in the right direction. The LED light in this monitor as well as most LED monitors is in the blue spectrum, the CCFL light in my old monitor is more in the yellow spectrum. If you look carefully at most LED based monitors, you will notice that there is a slight blue tint to the entire screen (but I suppose it depends on the monitor). Also, LED produces light in one direction, so its good for track lighting and spotlights, but not for illuminating your entire home. Since its directional, your viewing angle is worse than older CCFL lighted monitors. Like the VX2452MH, my laptop has an LED monitor in it and it has a blue tint as well and it only looks good when you are looking at it straight on. If you like the LED lights that now light up much of the highways (with the slight blue tint), youll be very happy with any LED blue spectrum based monitor. Personally, when Im working close to a computer monitor, I want dull, accurate, flat color with no glare. The blue spectrum light used in a lot of the LED technology just seems to make the blues so bright, its harder to tolerate than my older monitor. If you are going from a crappy monitor to the new LED technology, you wont know any better. If you are getting into the LED technology to watch TV, you probably wont complain about the technology as well. But compare LED technology to the old stuff and you will wonder why LED? Just to save 25% on your computer monitor bill? Not worth it in my opinion. I just purchased another used VX2235wm for $75.00 and will continue to use the old CCFL LCDs until something better comes along.

If you need a inexpensive basic monitor this is it. However if you want to use this to connect to multiple sources stay far away. This monitor has no ability to stay on 1 input regardless of if that input is connected. It will auto-switch to an input with a signal. This is great if you only have 1 device and having it quickly select that input for use without manually selecting that input. However if you are using the monitor for setting up or troubleshooting a second system it is a nightmare. As soon as the computer reboots it will reconnect to the other input that has a connection. There is no setting to disable the auto switch. Makes it really hard to troubleshoot a graphics card or system issue. This monitor gets 2 stars for making me take the time to write a review to highlight this feature and what a pain in the A it is. Otherwise it is a 4-5 star product for a general use monitor.
