ViewSonic VX2467-MHD 24 Inch 1080p Gaming Monitor with 75Hz, 1ms, Ultra-Thin Bezels, FreeSync, Eye Care, HDMI, VGA, and DP

I bought this because I needed a monitor, any monitor, to use with a couple of devices with HDMI output. This monitor has overall done a good job for the price, but it has some quirks that you should know about before choosing it. Pros: * Works. No dead pixels. * Reasonably fast to wake up. * The 2 button is a one-press shortcut to switch inputs. * Power supply is internal (no brick on the floor). Cons and quirks: * No built-in USB hub. * The onscreen menu is handled by four buttons in a row: 1 2 ↓ ↑, where 1 is usually back/exit and 2 is usually select. Its slightly tricky to remember which button to push, all of the ranged controls (like brightness/contrast) have to be selected and then changed and it doesnt display this clearly, and the Memory Recall function, which resets all settings, is in the main menu and has no confirmation so its easy to press by accident. * Occasionally has a blip of static a couple seconds after switching source (not recurring, so not really a problem). * Cannot be easily made dim enough for comfortable night-time use; there isnt much brightness range and what there is is tedious to adjust. * Stand has only a tilt adjustment. (When vertical, the height from the tabletop to the bottom edge of the image is 12 cm or 4.5 inches.) * When I connected it to a BeagleBone Black running Linux in text mode, the image was shifted downward about five pixels, so that the bottom line of text is partly cut off (cant see the cursor underscore). This may be a quirk of the BBB, or it may be that the monitor has trouble correctly aligning images which are solid black on the top and bottom edges (wouldnt think that would be a problem in pure digital inputs, though). Mixed-bag notes: * The clear plastic ring at the bottom center is a giant blue power light. It can be disabled in the menu. But it turns amber in sleep mode and this cannot be disabled. * Automatically tries other sources when one goes away. So if you have two computers connected and you put one to sleep itll display the other one, which is convenient. On the other hand, its terrible if you have, say, a Chromecast plugged in to the HDMI port (which *always* provides a signal). This function cannot be disabled. Received my ViewSonic VX2452MH 24-inch monitor today and after initially being disappointed and concerned, I have to say that I love the display. Few things to point out. 1- The stand feels a bit flimsy so be careful with it. 2- I purchased the AmazonBasics High-Speed HDMI Cable to go with the monitor since my Dell Studio XPS PC had an HDMI output. This is where I was disappointed. Once I had everything plugged in, I couldnt get the screen resolution right. The text was not sharp. It was kinda fuzzy no matter what website I was on. The desktop would not fill the whole screen even after playing with the screen settings and installing the correct drivers from the CD that came with it. Game Mode setting did not help at all. It just adjusted the brightness, contrast and colorization. I was so bummed out that I nearly packed the monitor back up to prepare for a return and refund. I tried one last thing before boxing it up. I hooked up the DVI cable that came with the monitor instead of the HDMI. Thats how the old monitor was hooked up so I gave it a shot. I removed the HDMI and then plugged in the DVI cable. HOLY COW what a difference!! The desktop filled the entire screen and everything looked nice and sharp. No fuzz. What a relief! So in case you have a similar problem with the HDMI hooked up, try the DVI cable instead. Very satisfied with the outcome. This monitor is excellent now. Very nice.

I have the previous model of this monitor, so when I needed a second one (which I use for work more than anything) I got this one. Picture is good, very adjustable. This one has buttons rather than touch controls, and Im having a tough time getting both monitors to look the same because the menus are different. Because this was new I was going to use it as my primary screen and use my old one as the secondary screen, but the sound was so tinny and awful (hence 4 stars) that this is my secondary monitor. So if you dont need/want to use this for sound it will probably be great.

Monitors picture looks great after you play with the settings, but the settings reset every time the monitor shuts off and I have to input them again. I dont know if its just a glitch or if thats the way its meant to be for some reason? The speakers are decent for a monitor, but dont expect great sound. Its pretty quiet, even at full volume, which is why I have mine plugged into a speaker system. Other than those little issues, Id recommend just for a budget set up or something cheap to game on if youre low on money. Worth it for the price.

I needed to replace an old monitor for a dual monitor set-up, and was concerned with materials & construction quality and a defect-free display. So far, so good. No dead pixels or other defects noted, default settings out-of-the-box were fine, and there were no problems with monitor detection. Do be aware that theres VGA, DVI & HDMI but no DisplayPort connector (prevalent on graphics cards these days... To use as #2 monitor I needed a DP-to-HDMI cable).

I already own a Viewsonic monitor and this is the second one Ive purchased because I use two monitors with my desktop PC. An old Dell monitor I used for the second one finally zapped out, so I decided to go with the same Viewsonic brand. I gave this monitor four stars because the screen on the original one has lost its brightness and now has a hazy look. I tried all the settings to correct it, but nothing worked yet. Im hoping the new one wont experience the same thing. Overall I really like this monitor.

Edit: Thanks to Cliffs comment about image quality being affected if game mode was turned on. His hint of using the UP Arrow to turn off game mode was useful. I tend not to read manuals, but poke around in settings to change what I need to. I didnt find game mode using my usual method. Clicking just the Up arrow by itself would have never happened with my approach. The image improved a noticeable amount. Better smoothness, less grainy characteristics. Now the picture quality is better for us. Color saturation still is not quite as nice as my old Samsung, but image quality improved to nearly where I was hoping it would be. I had hoped that it being a newer monitor it would exceed my old monitor to a degree. It still does not. I would give it 3.5 stars based on the improvement from switching off game mode. Sound is still sub-par for me. -------------------- Original (modified for greater clarity): We bought this since my wifes 23 samsung inexplicably started buzzing and shutting itself down after 20 seconds each time it was turned on. That monitor had ~2048x1152 native resolution roughly. It had no built in speakers, but we had some cheap computer speakers from the 90s hooked up to the machine. The good. This particular monitor does have HDMI right next to the DVI and VGA connector. Others have stated in their reviews that it doesnt so perhaps the models changed slightly? Ours came with a plugin for HDMI, but no cable. There is a DVI cable and a VGA cable. We have an older Mac Mini on this new monitor so we dont need an HDMI for it anyhow. Comparison: 1. We got the samsung 6 years ago for $260 vs $140 for the Viewsonic. The samsung was at the time one of the cheapest monitors one could get for a 23 and cheaper than most 22 models of the day. 2. This is a very lightweight monitor. Our Samsung weighed easily 2x as much. The samsung had a nice weighted base which had considerable height adjustment and tilt adjustment. This Viewsonic has a very cheap flimsy base with no adjustments. 3. The samsung had better resolution, but the Viewsonic has standard HD resolution which isnt bad. The samsung had much better color saturation. The Viewsonic seems have weaker color saturation even after all the adjusting I can do. The Viewsonic has better brightness but the Viewsonic seems to be much grainier. 4. The samsung had no sound; The view sonic has sound.. but it sounds about like it is coming out of a smartphone. Very thin sound. My wife says it is ok meaning she will deal with the thin tinny sound rather than have the big clunky speakers and wiring all over her double computer filled desk. It might be ok or she may end up back with the old speakers. In my view I couldnt last a day with that racket. Why only 3 stars? Overall I am not impressed with this monitor. Build is definitely cheap and flimsy compared to the old Samsung. Picture quality is worse overall. The picture seems to have weak color saturation and be quite noticeably grainy. Not sure why since the resolution should be similar. The sound is flat out awful to me. It cant be adjusted height wise which I knew from the other reviews, but the base is even chintzier than I could have imagined. It should hold up, since nobody really messes with a monitor when it is sitting there, but it will be interesting to see if my wife needs to throw some books under it to raise the height. You kind of have to stare down at the monitor since it is also a very low base. Long term, I am not sure how comfortable staring down at a monitor will feel. My old samsung was a very cheap monitor for that era (far less expensive than anything 22 or 23 at the time), and yet it overall was in a class above this one. However, the samsung didnt last which is the ultimate statement on quality. I am hoping this monitor will last as almost all of my other ones have.... more than 10 years. Monitors should definitely last at least 10 years in my view. Then they should be recycled for the rare earth elements which are being used up by producing cheap junky screens that seem to break more easily compared to older models.

Upgraded since my 19 viewsonic finally died after 15 years. Picture is amazing, clear and enjoyable for my gaming. 75 mhz refresh is sufficient for what i do, both office work and games.

I use this monitor in my ham radio room, along with6 other monitors. It has really nice color, and the multiple inputs are great.

To put this review into perspective, I purchased this monitor to replace a 6 year old HP LP2065 20 LCD monitor which is not HDCP compliant. On installing this monitor, I noted that the image was bright and lacking in contrast. Brightness and contrast are adjustable in the manual mode in the menu. Adjustments made the image better, but was still lacking in black level performance. Fine text was definitely softer than that on the HP monitor. When scrolling text, a yellow smear was visible trailing the text. This effect was mostly eliminated when switching to the Game mode. However, switching to this mode sets the brightness and contrast to fixed values. They are no longer manually adjustable. I had attended a wedding and took pictures with my digital camera. I processed the raw files and adjusted them the best I could based on the monitors image. I had trouble getting them to look right. The color accuracy of this monitor is definitely sub-par. When I printed some of these pictures, they were dark and dull looking, not at all how they looked on the screen. I put back the old HP monitor and looked at the processed images. They were dark and dull on the screen, exactly how they printed. I reprocessed the raw files and now have good looking prints. At this point, I packed up the monitor for return. It cost me just under $15 to ship it back. Lesson learned.
