Kingston 480GB A400 SATA 3 2.5 Internal SSD SA400S37/480G - HDD Replacement for Increase Performance

This worked perfectly on a dual 2.7GHz PowerMac G5 running OS 10.5. After connecting it inside the drivebay (I didnt even bother with a 2.5->3.5inch adapter), closing everything up and booting I was able to see the disk in Disk Utility and format it. The thing took SECONDS to format (partition) and was then fully usable. Zero issues using it as a Pro Tools recording drive, its as if the whole session was in RAM.

Made my 2011 Macbook Pro feel so much faster and comparable to a newer mac.

This SSD is good for the price, the amount of storage isn’t plentiful but for something that’s temporary, it’s very good if you’re going to replace it later on since it doesn’t have much storage.

Upgrading the wifes laptop with this and was unable to find any free migration software. My Rig has two Samsung drives and they offer FREE migration software for there drives. Kingston does not offer the same, keep that in mind when purchasing!!

The SSD is great, worked for me for almost 2 years, but due to certain firmware issue, is now a paper weight. It die one day randomly and start appearing as satafirm s11, after investigating I discovered that its common on this model and theres nothing to do. I really invite people that purchase this SSD to use the Kingston SSD manager software, so can keep the drive firmware updated and not suffer a terrible lost of a drive and most importantly the precious information.

This was a great drive and was used as just my OS drive. With only a year of use it died and it wasnt recoverable. Im still giving this drive a 4 out of 5 because overall it was a fantastic drive but not all drives are going to be perfect and I was just one of the unlucky few.
