It looks worse on camera but this monitor has some pretty bad glow when the monitor is dark. This can be mitigated by turning down the brightness but doesnt solve the issue. All IPS glow so i might go back to a TN monitor.

Bought this monitor for my daughter for casual 1440p gaming on Black Friday for $170. It’s a great deal! Overall I’d say it’s on par with my 27” Dell 2721DGF 165hz. Good: 1. HP’s color is vivid and rich. Image quality is better than Dell. 2. So far no IPS glow or corner bleeding. And no bad pixel. 3. Low latency and actual gaming response time seems good. Not feeling any slower than Dell. However, fast moving object (fps game) is not as clear as Dell. 4. Thin bezel - excellent for dual monitor setup. 5. Incredible value for an IPS panel at this price. Bad: 1. Build quality is average. The plastic bezel is not really straight if you look closely. The back panel is also cheap and flimsy. 2. Only one HDMI and one display port. No usb or usbc port And the display port comes with the monitor is short. 3. Power socket is slightly loose. I need to really push the cable connector all the way in to get power. 4. Does not work well with AMD image sharpening. Looks really bad even with 10% sharpening setting. 5. Free sync is not consistent. Experienced some stuttering from time to time. Never has this issue with Dell. I don’t use free sync often so not a big deal to me.

Theyve made a silent downgrade for this monitor: its no longer using LG panels. They now use BOE, which is a cut-rate panel with much worse quality control. Ive got it for a song, but Im starting to think that Im getting what Ive paid for.

So, to start off with, this is a great monitor. A fantastic monitor. Everything from the rich colors to the increased frame rate is exactly what I had hoped for. Especially coming from a brand that I am very familiar with (I had a similar model but very early on, maybe 2011?). And, just like my previous monitor, this one rotates to a vertical display! Just make sure you tilt the monitor outward at the bottom in order to ensure you have enough clearance. Anyway, as mentioned, its a great monitor and would be a welcome addition to anyone looking to expand their desktop for work, or a gamer looking to enhance their gaming experience. Assembly of this item was also incredibly easy.. you literally open the box, remove the cardboard and snap the arm of the base into the back of the monitor. Et Voila! I do have a few issues with this monitor though.. - The cable thats included with it... it only provided a Display Port cable and unfortunately my laptop does not have one of those. I obviously had extra HDMI cables but I would have expected one to be included, especially at the $200+ price range. - the connection on the monitor for the Display Port is very tight and leaves little room for actually removing the Display Port cable once attached. A better design would have been to maybe put the push-release for the display port cable on the sides, instead of on top of the cable. - There is no auto-adjust display when rotating the monitor to vertical display. This might be something that I adjust on my display settings, but my last HP monitor that rotated would automatically change the display to vertical. This monitor works and looks great and none of these issues are deal breakers by any means. It just simply means I cant give it a 5-star review.

I have been on the hunt for an inexpensive 1440p high refresh monitor for some time. When this popped up for $180 on the amazon treasure truck I snagged it without a second thought and I have zero regrets. 1440p has so much more real estate that 1080, and 27 is the sweet spot for this resolution in my opinion. And the high refresh is just so fluid from the standard 60hz monitors. Top it off with a nice IPS panel and backed by a name brand like HP and it is the best budget 1440p monitor hands down. Not to mention it included a nice stand with vertical movement and rotation, which is usually unheard of in this price range. My only complaint would be that is only has a single hdmi and single display port and no built in speakers, but that is very minor.

Please excuse the cluttered desk haha Honestly one of the best monitors I’ve owned. Picture quality is above and beyond. Control menu very easy to use. Love that this has a portrait mode! The height on this monitor as well is amazing! Forward and back tilt as well! Bezel on monitor is very thin and maximizes the full screen capability as well! Highly recommend considering this for first time PC users or any level of computer user!

Dunno if I got lucky or what, but I got an LG panel and its basically perfect. Zero ghosting (I think that recent review complaining about ghosting has their settings wrong - setting Response Time to level 4 will introduce overshoot, I recommend setting it to level 2. Or theyre using variable refresh rate, which I havent bothered using yet), good colors + brightness, no dead pixels, and minimal backlight bleed. Only annoyances Ive had with it is: It installs Omen Gaming Hub on your PC automatically, completely unasked for (I uninstalled it and it never came back). Red colors are a smidge over-saturated and its difficult to reign it in with the settings. Though it may just be my old secondary Dell monitor, which looks a bit gray and washed out, in comparison. Otherwise, 100% recommended for anyone looking for a high refresh rate 1440p IPS panel monitor around $200, that doesnt have the awful VA panel black smearing that cheaper high refresh rate usually have (havent seen a single other monitor like this around $200 that isnt a VA panel). You also usually dont see fully height-adjustable stands at this price point, either. So I was a bit skeptical buying it for only $200. Wasnt expecting much considering the brand and the price, but Im pleasantly surprised. Update: I tried out Freesync, and it actually works better than the dedicated Gsync module in my old monitor. There is some very slight overshoot ghosting, but you really have to look for it to notice it.

I did my research, and this monitor is truly worth the price (i bought it for $234, including taxes). With this monitor at this price, it makes no sense to buy a secondhand monitor (which is what I was planning to do initially). Great colors. Great looks. The refresh rate is amazing. Its an IPS panel which is better than TN panels. The 1440p resolution makes things look insanely good. I am very happy with my purchase, but if that changes anytime soon, I will change my review. So far, I have had this monitor for a month and have 0 complaints.
