When you want to cut threads in a seam, the process is to insert the tip and, then, with a twist of the wrist, it cuts. This tool is similar to a surgeons scalpel, and it will cut so fast that you wont even know it until you see blood. On the other hand, there is no more stabbing a point through the threads. Just insert, flick your wrist, and its done.

This is an awesome seam ripper. Sadly, it is not what I thought I ordered. I was looking for, and thought I bought the old kind like you can get in the stores. Was looking for just the working end without the handle. The descriptor seam ripper was misleading to me.

I don’t like where the blade is added because the screw is in the area where you hold the ripper & it rubs on the finger. Otherwise perfect!

Best seam ripper in the world! I also use for model building. Its easy to control and the replacement blades are a deal!

I use this product a lot, mostly for ripping out seams, but it has multiple uses. I cannot imagine a better product than this!

For anyone that has ever used a seam ripper (and that would be anyone who sews), the use of this scalpel is is a life-saver! Investment in the scalpel is well worth the money and the blades can be replaced, keeping your ripper sharp. I rated the ease of use as three out of five because you have to BE CAREFUl when you are ripping or you will cut fabric. With careful use, the is a real time saver.

Seamstress for 40+ years, here. Havels scalpel seam ripper is far and away the best I have used, and I have used every seam ripper on the market. I own 3 Havels rippers, one next to each of my sewing machines. The replacement blades are honed razor sharp all the way to the tip and slice precisely through all seams--even jeans--as through hot butter.

It is very difficult to find this blade in stores anymore. Stores carry the single hole blades but not this type with the center sliding hole. These are fabulous blades and when using the plastic cover, the life of each blade is significantly longer. Love these blades!!!
