The screen is so bright it makes the colors pop. My old monitor has clouding issues and man, I was missing so much by not upgrading earlier. Maybe I can get a replacement screen for my older monitor so that my eyes will be better off.

Keep in mind you will only get 144hz if you are using anything other than display port. Your gpu should have the port already if it is a newer one.

i love that it looks so good 2 hdmi slots and 1 display port 1 for wired headphones its exactly what it says high frame rate with very sharp image without losing anything i leave it on adaptive frame rate because i hear bad news about g sync often very good for the price.

Built-in 2W stereo, DisplayPort, Dual-link DVI-D, and HDMI ports, 1920x1080, 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio, and 350 cd/m² of brightness, 144 Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time are some of the awesome features that this badboy display features. This display has a minimum black level of .0121 cd/m^2 and brightness level of 412 cd/m^2. I have tested this display with various games (BF4, Dragon Age: Inquisition, Lichdom Battlemage. Compared to my old monitor Acer G235HAbd 23 (which I bought in 2012 and still use) I dont have to worry about ghosting, lag, or choppy action due to fast response time & refresh rate, colors were more crisper, contrast was much more definitive, and the difference in brightness is comparable to a led flashlight vs. candle light (yup it is pretty bright).This display is certainly an eye opener in my perspective. However, one thing to note is that the colors are washed out, and brightness level is too high with stock settings, and so you have to manually tweak the settings in order to get a good image quality. The HDMI cable limits the refresh rate to 60 Hz, but the DVI cable offers full 144 Hz refresh rate. I have not tested the built in speakers so I am not sure about sound quality of the built-in speakers, but if you ask any gamer they will say they either use a headset or external sound system hooked up to the computer so it is not a big deal for me at least. The VG248QE doesnt have a gamma control so it has gamma setup horribly that an attempt to achieve a 2.2 power law gamma will actually crush your blacks (yeah - its that bad). All is not lost as these problems can be fixed with some calibrating and an ICC profile. (Tutorials can be found on tomshardware.com and reddit (Just search calibrating asus vg248qe). Not as good looking as a IPS panel, but no one is going to buy this for graphic design where accurate colors are a must-have. This is a gaming monitor and the inaccuracy of the colors really isnt that noticeable once calibrated.

This is probably one of THE most popular gaming monitors right now, as it has been referenced time and time again on the PC forums. This is the monitor to go with if you are after certain expectations, with little (fixable) drawbacks that you need to worry with. Currently, I am running three of these monitors with Nvidia surround technology loaded, as well as Nvidia 3D running on certain games. By itself, this monitor is simply superb, I even attached my xbox one to it and found it more enjoyable to game on versus my 47 or 60 TVs (personal preference perhaps). The trick about this monitor that you must accept is, if you plan to use it at 144hz, you need to know that your GPU can handle the frame rates required. It takes a lot of horse power to get up in frame rates on some of the newer AAA titles like Call of Duty Black ops III (horrible optimization at the moment), Witcher 3, Just Cause 3, SW Battlefront, etc. If your GPU is running an Nvidia 970 or < you will be fine. If you are planning to push 120fps with a 960, or anything lower than this, you will have to turn down a bit of settings to make it happen (no AA, dynamic shadows, god rays, etc). Black Ops III ~ 110 fps with all settings on Medium to high Witcher 3 ~ 60 fps on High preset (extremely demanding) Battlefield 4 ~ 120 fps locked all settings ultra Diablo 3 ~ 120 FPS locked max settings The downsides mentioned. . . Thick bezels. but you know this going in - there are plenty of thinner options out there, but none at this price point with this feature set. Horrid color calibration out of the box - youll need a new color profile ASAP. I used the x-rite ColorMunki calibration tool and sunk all 3 monitors in order to match profiles. AFTER this, the monitors look EXCELLENT and are able to match printed colors.

let me preface this by saying in the past I have had 60Hz monitors with a response time somewhere around 5ms, needless to say this is a major upgrade from the past. The monitor showed up in its base packaging, no exterior box around it to hide what was in it, which annoyed me but is no reason to take a star off from this product. inside it was padded with some Styrofoam and it had some thin plastic over the glossy parts so as to prevent smudges and initial damage from the factory. It also comes with an attachment at the base that helps to keep the power cord and the DVI Cable from being seen. There are three cords included in the packaging, a DVI Cable for video, an AUX Cable for the built in speakers, and of course the Power Cable. the AUX Cable feels rather cheap and probably wont hold up to much wear and tear, however both the power cord and the DVI Cable appear sturdy and of better quality. there are also ports available for other inputs such as HDMI, and Displayport, however it does NOT include those cables, it only includes a Dual-Link DVI Cable. One word of caution, although it may just be my cable, but I tried to plug an HDMI Cable in, but it would not transmit at the full 144Hz, it limited itself to about 60 Hz. it may have been my cable specificly but that is something to watch out for. The monitor comes with a CD that includes some software to manage and adjust various settings, however it is also available straight from the manufacturers website. Now for the features on this! The VG248QE Comes with a built in cross hair setting that displays either a Green or Red with two different types on the screen. I find this is cool in concept, even useful in games like Counter Strike, but I do have a couple of grievances. for one, the Red Crosshairs are offset by about a pixel to the right, this may be me being picky but that bothers the living daylights out of me! also I dont like how fancy the crosshairs are, I would personally prefer a simple + without all the other crap around it. And lastly I wish the image size was customizable. there is too much screen space taken up by it in my opinion, so adjusting the size would be nice! it comes with various preset monitor settings including, Theater, Gaming, Scenery, Night View, sRGB, and Standard. From what I can tell, the changes are as follows: Scenery Livens up the colors, making colors brighter, which you commonly seen done on professional photography level. Gaming brightens the colors as well but with less contrast, allowing you to see figures in the dark shadows. it also Sharpens the images, giving defining figures I have not yet tested the other modes, so I can not comment on them. The screen itself moves 90 degrees clockwise, it will also swivel on its stand, be angled anywhere between 15 and -5 degrees and it can move up and down ~11cm. I love the way you move this monitor, its not jerky, and there dont appear to be any preset spots for it to sit, instead it almost flows when you adjust it up and down. I have also not had any issues of it falling down or repositioning itself in any way thus far. One slightly disappointing thing is that the Viewing angles seem rather narrow, and I find I can not have too many people crowd around it. Now onto the things everyone cares about. The Refresh rate. As I have previously stated up to this point every monitor I have owned has been a 60Hz monitor. Needless to say there is a large difference between 60 and 144 Hz. However I could not tell at first, simply because I forgot to go into NVidias Control Panel and allow my G Card to go above 60 fps. Once I had that figured out, I dont think I will ever go back! The motions of moving, in game or in the browser are remarkably smooth, so much so that it was very unsettling at first. and everything on screen is so much clearer! your graphics card doesnt have to render blurred images because your producing more images each second, so they can be clearer, more precise. This improved refresh-rate made this monitor worth every penny! To Long? Didnt Read? Heres a quick Pros Cons! Pros: 144Hz 1ms Response time multiple preset screen settings Built in crosshair Low in price compared with other 120/144Hz monitors 24 Inches Cons: Did not come with 3D Gear No USB Ports Narrow viewing angle Red Crosshairs Slightly offset All in all, as a avid gamer, I highly recommend getting this monitor, assuming of course that you are getting ~144 fps in game! ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update: 7-31-14 So after using this monitor a while I tried playing on a different monitor at 60 Hz, for those that own this monitor you know, it is painful to try to go back! it feels so choppy and extremely blurred compared with the ASUS 144HZ. I still have had no issues with the screen moving, and not a single dead pixel yet, whereas my old 60 Hz monitor has about three scattered about the screen. I find that I usually play in the gaming mode due to the added ability to see the enemy hidden in the shadows!

Last purchased Feb 2, 2014, Style: 24 FHD 1ms 144Hz Height Adjustable | Pattern Name: Gaming Monitor After owning this monitor for nearly NINE YEARS, I am still very pleased by it. Overall, there is a lot to like, and not much to dislike about this monitor. I primarily use it for gaming, working, and other typical computer use. The image is crisp, the colors are vivid, the blacks are deep, and can be made even deeper using ASCR, there is barely any backlight bleeding, ZERO dead pixels (no green, black, or bright pixels - nothing at all wrong with the image), fast 1ms response time, high 144hz refresh rate - there really is very much to like. (Other than something I did - my own fault - to slightly damage the surface with a sharp object one time about 7 years ago) the monitor is visually and cosmetically flawless. I only have two very small complaints after almost a decade of constant use: 1. The frame on the top is just barely starting to lift off the top in a short portion of the middle, and occasionally allows a bit of the backlight to shine through - but even this issue, I think, is going away after I have worked on pushing the frame back in place and it seems to no longer have the issue anymore. It might also have to do with temperature differences due to changing seasons resulting in slight expanding or contracting of the material. Really not a big deal, and almost not worth mentioning, but I want to give an honest, fair, and complete review. 2. The height adjustment has recently (within the last year or so - i.e. after about 8 years of use) started to lose its ability to hold the monitor at its position. However, this comes with three pertinent caveats: - First, my wife and daughter very often use my computer when I am away and move the monitor down, and then I have to move it back up when I get back, so it experiences a lot of wear and tear. - Second, I have my very heavy Logitech gaming headset conveniently hanging on the back of the monitor (because it has such a perfectly shaped section which, although probably not designed for this, perfectly holds my headset in place) which significantly adds to the overall weight of the monitor hanging on the height-adjustment mechanism. - Third, even with the problem existing, by moving the monitor to the desired position and holding it in place for a few moments, it will typically hold its position, even with the heavy headset hanging on the back. So, thats it. No other cons. I havent read many of the other reviews, but I did see something about color issues: this is fairly easily addressable via monitor settings, and if needed, Nvidia Control Center settings (or the equivalent AMD settings). Also, if you have any issues with Ghosting, I suggest adjusting your Trace Free setting to either 60 or 80. I advise not using 100, as that seems to overcorrect the issue and introduce inverse ghosting, if I recall correctly from previous testing. Setting it too low (i.e. 40 or below) doesnt seem to correct it enough, but it could work for some people. The only reason I am shopping around for another monitor at this point is because my wifes monitor (different brand/model) died and so I am giving her this monitor. Otherwise, I would plan to just keep using this monitor for years to come. I highly recommend buying this monitor.

Monitor is good, REALLY nice quality the 144hz is insane. I can somewhat notice the 1ms response time, the color is good once you calibrate it, Im not sure why people are complaining so much about the colors, make sure you turn down the brightness and read up on some calibration settings online. The problems I have with this monitor: I chose 2 day shipping and UPS was trying to make it 4 day shipping without my knowledge, I got it sorted out though. Another problem I have is that the sound is really almost nothing, its not useable for music/gaming, just things like steam notifications, which is still nice in a way and dont let this get in the way of you buying it. Theres nothing wrong with the monitor at all besides that sound problem that almost no one cares about. If you are looking into getting better at games like CS:GO, get it, it will make you better, but dont expect to get global with it ;). This is also REALLY useful for anyone who does twitch streaming, the quality is so nice and people will want to stay in your channel because your stream quality is going to be HIGHLY superior to those 60hz people (look at steel_tv). Also make sure to buy this over the BenQ one, this looks nicer in terms of how casual it looks on the exterior, yet still packed with all those features. The BenQ looks straight up neckbeard-like, hard to explain, but it just has so much emphasis on the GAMING part of the design. If you are thinking about getting this monitor, stop thinking, its one of the best you can get. EDIT: somehow the volume is fixed, not sure how, changed to 5 stars!

Game Monitor If you get it for the normal price. This monitor is excellent. Pros: 3 year Warranty 144hz + Tracefree Technology Adjustable Stand 144hz capable with DVI-D or Display Cable. Monitor Digital Vibrance (Saturation) Excellent clarity Cons: Colors when using 144hz. Theres no nice way to say, the colors suck by default. You can tweak it but it will take sometime to find exactly what you like. The nice thing though is depending on the profile you select, you can up digital vibrance on the monitor it self. It makes console games look amazing. PS4, Wii U, and Xb1 looks great, But remember, Consoles only use 60hz or lower depending on the game. If you google this monitor you will find a reddit with a bunch of different colors and profiles to try. Motion Sickness: I found this monitor was making me slightly motion sick. Im not use to see 144 FPS in pc games so it was messing with me a little. I expect this will go away shortly as it was slowly getting better over time while using it last night. Final Thoughts: Personally, I love this monitor. I bought it mainly for the 144hz for CS:GO and some other games on PC. The colors arent nearly as close to my 27 LED Viewsonic monitor but I knew that going into it. The monitor is great for competative gaming and for console gaming as well. Even though its only 24, if your playing a game at a desk like I am, it works perfect. If your looking for a monitor to do graphic design or you care a lot about colors, get an IPS screen. This is a TN panel after all. its meant for gaming, and thats pretty much it. Ive used BenQ monitors in the past and they are very nice, but honestly, this monitor is just as good if not better for some. BenQ is like the Apple brand of monitors. Its a big name and everyone loves them but they are also elistest with it as well. Go for whats cheaper and you will not be sorry.

This is the best monitor I have ever owned , My previous monitor was only 60 HZ with 1ms responce time ,My computer I put together is above average running a 8 core processor 32 GB memory EVGA motherboard ,EVGA 2070 gaming GPU and 2-TB solid state sansung , I used a high Quality display cable to connect from monitor to GPU and I have logged about 12 hours of game play with this monitor , playing Assassin Creed valhalla and its absolutly the best I have ever had , great colors very smooth and clear , I never knew how much vegatation is in this game till now , One of the things I used to struggle with are the stupid tattos you have to chase , Well not any more I captured like three of them in about ten minutes , they are a lot easier to see and follow now , Combat and everything else is much better , I read a lot of negative reviews about the color , But this monitor has great color for my setup , I have no complaints , early mornings /high noon /afternoons and night all are very real , Cloud cover /sunshine/ rain /fog/wind/ fire /smoke/sunrise/sunset all great on my build , I may just be lucky , But I am happy with this monitor !
