I think this product would have been great except I have a camcorder that needed a different cable and the cable that was provided doesnt work if you only have one input from the camcorder. I was either able to get sound or video but not both.

This product has worked perfectly for the purpose for which I purchased it, that being to transfer years and very many hours of vacation and family video tapes to DVD. The Easy Wizard Mode is the method I use as it is just that,...Easy! The device is easy to set up, instructions are easy to understand and easy to follow. Although the device has numerous other features, I have not had a need to utilize any of them at this time. Thus far I am very pleased with this product.

I bought this for my mom for Christmas. I saw a fella using it at work, he showed me the features and knew it was the perfect thing. It converts anything youve recorded into digital format. The ultimate security for those old Christmas and vacation videos long forgotten in a drawer.

We love this product. We had dozens of cassette recordings, years of family stuff, all had been loaded in a dusty cardboard box... for who ever looks at cassettes anymore??? This product saved our family memories, converted them to DVD, where we now burn copies onto DVDs and share those family adventures with our grown kids. Example, our kids were little at their ballgames or birthday parties or talent shows or... and we got them on those old cassette videos. Problem is though we taped a lot of the game/party... way too much. Using this product, we found it easy to clip our old videos, cutting out the parts that no one will ever want to watch, then we merged our clips into a smooth DVD file, titling and dating each one simply by naming each file uniquely. This project is time consuming, dont think this job is going to be done in one day or two shifts. If you have a 45 minute VHS cassette, itll take 45 minutes to convert it to DVD, then, depending on how many clips you cut, add another 45 minutes to realizing your finished DVD product. The few questions I had were quickly answered when I called Honestech for help. Wife, kids and I love it.

I bought this a while ago but just got around to using it and unfortunately it doesn’t work. As soon as I click record it shuts down the program. Extremely disappointed.

At first I gave this product a very bad review that it didnt deserve. I was frustrated because I couldnt get the software to load, but after disabling my antivirus software it loaded with out any difficulty. So you might keep this in mind. After that it works fine.

I was able to successfully preserve old tapes of my childhood thanks to this product. The software (while visually outdated) ran well on Windows 10. I ended up running the captured content through Sony Vegas to compress the file size and fix some small sound issues (mono sound only coming through one speaker). This was not a quick project and I didnt expect it to be since I had well over 20 hours of tape to go through. But it is 100% worth it. Act now people. Remember, tapes will degrade over time but video files wont.

This is an awesome product. My only dilemma is that I cannot transfer all of my VHS tapes because the kind that I have requires an adapter and no company makes an adapter for 8 mm tapes. This situation is not with the Honestech product, it is with those manufacture who make a product and do not make the accompanying product to transfer HOORAY FOR THIS PRODUCT. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO THE ENTIRE WORLD. THIS IS HOW SATISFIED I AM WITH IT. THANK YOU FOR A GREAT PRODUCT. NOW IF YOU CAN ONLY MAKE A PRODUCT THAT I CAN USE TO TRANSFER MY 8 MM TAPES TO DVD, THAT WOULD BE GREAT. BE THE FIRST TO DO SO!

I do like it. The video quality is not as good as expected. But that could be my DVD burner. I would recommend it to any one that has great old stuff that they would like to hear and see again digitally.

Transfers video as described, but the software to edit video lags and freezes consistently every video Ive edited. Ive had to save projects and close out, then go back in and hope it allows me to view without the skipping and freezing.
