Great backpack for day and travel use. Lots of pockets and areas to keep your items safe. Nice, sleek looking bag.

Its a comfortable bag with great storage organization and the laptop zipper on the side is very convenient. Its not as water resistant as I thought it would be, but nothing in my bag has gotten wet yet. The exterior just holds some of the water and isnt as repellant as I thought.

Fell apart in a month, cheap zipper literally threw 130$ in the trash buying this... Emailed Thule customer service and got no response. Would definitely not recommend and will think twice before purchasing another Thule product.

Given the price and the Thule name, you shouldnt really expect much else, but this is a very high quality (and slightly overpriced) backpack meant for..what? Its great at keeping your laptop safe - it has padding on every side and edge (which many backpacks forget) and it has a ton of storage in a semi-water resistant package, but Im still a little confused. The form factor and storage methods (two deep segments with a few quick reach pockets at the top of one) seem to lend this to a clothing carrier for camping/hiking, since it has much less pockets than something like a Swiss backpack to easily segment your items, but the inclusion of a laptop pouch would seem to make it more of a general purpose backpack still heavily suited to outdoorsy activities. Ive never thought about bringing my laptop out on a hike or a bike ride with me, but I guess I do appreciate the option. So if youre the type of person who doesnt want a bunch of pockets in your backpack because youre going to stuff them with clothes or other bulky items but also wants a dedicated protective laptop slot, this is a great backpack for you. The market seems a bit niche but it does seem to exist.

My previous Dakine bag bit it after almost a decade of use. Having recently had a good experience with Thule with respect to a warranty-claim, I thought Id give one of their bags a go. My main purpose was a bag I could for weekend trips to other *cities* that fit under the seat in front of me on most airlines. This is not a backpack for the wilderness! In this regard, the Chasm 26l does not disappoint. Sure 30l would be better, but through the power of packing cubes and outfit selection, I dont miss those 4l. Build quality and stitching is good. It has good water repellent characteristics, though it is *not* a dry bag. The zippers seem sturdy, though it always takes time to find out a zippers true nature. The compartments protect electronics well and are organized intelligently. Some other reviewers didnt like the layout, which confuses me. The layout is very easy to intuit from the pictures here on the product page. Its easy to get to anything in the bag, perhaps they dont pack for their trips logically? Finally, theres all the extra thought going on around the exterior. The water bottle pocket is sleek but holds Hydroflask/Contigo/Yeti type water bottles ranging from 16-40oz well. Sturdy, but low profile webbing loops on both sides of the pack give you options to clip/tie extras to the outside of the bag. Handles for grabbing the top or side of the bag are beefy. Finally, all the straps have elastic keepers for stowing excess. No straps will flop around and hit you when running through a terminal nor will they get stuck in the weird cracks that abound in between seats on public transport. These little details show the care you expect in a premium product. I look forward to many adventures with this bag!

Love the shape of this backpack however after cutting out the laptop padded divider that should have been designed with Velcro for easy removal I am semi disgusted and happy with it at thy same time. With removing the padded divider I can now fit enough clothing, toiletries, charging cords etc for a two night stay for a short vacation. The blue exterior fabric is semi hard and would have to be really packed full for it to keep its form. The corners of seams tend to push inward versus outward and for $160, this is not acceptable from a name like Thule. The straps for a muscular man that’s 5’8, 180lbs it fits good, feels good carrying. The top zipper pouch I enjoy having on a backpack to get things I use often like mints, Bose earbuds, etc so although I do love the backpack I’m disappointed Thule didn’t design ahead putting Velcro on the divider. (Update after trip) I upgraded from 3 to 5 stars because this bag is a perfect fit for a 2-3 night trip maybe 5. I am 5’8, 170, medium muscular build size 31 waist. The bag fit perfectly resting at the top of my glutes and the straps curved perfectly around my body. With the chest piece connected the weight was distributed perfectly. In Las Vegas the airports are huge with a lot of walking and hanging out for ur flight. I found the side handle top handle top pouch to be perfect for getting in and out to get what I needed. I wish the top pouch was hard with an inner hard bottom versus the net as I was worried something would compress against my iPhone which was in there without a case as I don’t use a case so just my wish and I did have to cut out the laptop divider but I fit 4 athletic men’s medium shorts, 4 medium under shorts, 3 socks, 5 tshirts, my toiletries charging cables extra small things in zip lock bags 5 sandwich size bags and a ball cap I still could’ve put a pair of shoes. The bag if not over loaded will fit in the spirit free carrying personal bag. If over packed it will not fit. I found the zippers hard to open one handed. I needed a finger loop near the top zipper pouch to hold on to as I had to pinch the top of the bag just to unzip. One handed was challenging. Overall Thule has horrible customer service but they do make excellent backpacks I’d love to see this bag improved with a Velcro pull out laptop divider as I cut mine out for more room. I found three dudes behind me speaking Spanish trying to pronounce Thule was fun to hear. Excellent design minus a few needed tweaks.

Really well designed and solidly constructed. High quality materials. Looks great. Excellent weight distribution. In some backpacks items just fall to the bottom making it awkward to carry on your bag. Comfortable to wear. Perfect layout of pockets and compartments. Keeps its shape regardless of what you put in it. Love the laptop accessibility from the side, and also the side handle, which actually works well because the backpack keeps its shape pretty much regardless of how its handled. My only slight complaint is that a laptop can bounce back and forth while you walk if thats all you have in the pack. Solved pretty simply by stuffing another small item in there.

Thule Chasm Backpack is super durable and strong with a very good water resistant exterior. Very easy to access and holds my laptop securely along with so many other items. I love the shoulder straps as they are breathable and easy to put on my back. The price is really right and it lasts and I feel confident will hold up for years. The black color matches everything and does not show the dirt. Overall, amazing.

For an everyday carry/travel laptop bag this is better than much more expensive bags from Evergood or Peakdesign. Well made, well thought out storage. Very nice looking and it comes in colors other than black! Love it, would recommend for anyone looking for an everyday carry/travel laptop backpack.

Everything is good, but the shoulder strap broke after 1 month. I guess my gaming laptop is too heavy.
