    The design changes, overall comfort (including level of head pressure) and potability have all been significantly improved. I actually disagree with many of the editors reviews, its much better that it doesnt fold twice, the case is much thinner to transport. This also helps make the headphones much more durable overall. In terms of the previous generation model, put quite simply, sound quality is more in line with a neutral profile sounding acoustically tuned pair of reference headphones. Noise cancelling and transparency modes are a night and day difference with respect to the 1000XM4s, but both are still excellent pairs of headphones. The improvements here are well justified for an upgrade. Also the sound profile of the previous generation WH-1000XM4s can be easily restored by using the excited EQ setting in the companion app settings. Those carbon fiber dual drivers, 8 noise canceling mics and custom audio co-processor Sony keeps referring to in the marketing materials, are genuinely significant. If youre coming from the previous generation model, the differences are immediately noticable. The price has increased but considering theres a chip shortage and they improved literally all the right aspects of this new pair. Its justified. Well done Sony. And for all those purchasing, enjoy them, theyre industry leading for a reason.

    Im not sure if the issues is that my unit is just faulty or if its a common trend of this exact product. After spending about $400 on a headset, you will think it should be good right out the box but its not. I have had better experiences with headset 1/3 of the price. 1. My unit goes in and out of ANC (active noise canceling) without touching the audio source, in this case my phone, laptop or other devices. It also does this on calls without the ANC being on, it turns it self on. 2. I had to turn off all gestures or control because the headphones kept stopping my music or video every few minutes when in use. 3. The sound, mic and ANC when it works are okay but I dont think these are worth all the issues that comes right out the box with the headset. Im not sure if this headphones have an update that will fix these issues but my experience has been absolutely horrible given I spent so much money on the product. I will try to update it and see if that changes anything but I dont think so. Save your money or buy a different brand, because Im fairly certain that other headset manufacturers are making something better.

    Keeping this short and sweet, very good headphones. Noise cancellation is so good that it wow(s) you when turned off! Battery life is top tier which you should expect at this price, looks good & sleek. Volume control isn’t bad but the constant swiping up and down isn’t as effective as i’d like it to be but still gets the job done! Overall still a highly recommended headphone, you’ll enjoy it!

    I actually liked the headphones! Noise cancellation isnt as great as the AirPods Max and neither transparency, but the sound quality was a little better in my opinion. But the overall feel just felt like plastic??? I dont know how to exactly describe it but they were extremely light, which is a great thing for others but not for me, I want to the headphones to feel as if theyre durable and high quality, these felt like they were about to break at some point. I wasnt a big fan of the texture and feel of the headphones so I decided to return them. Heres a massive problem though... I decided to return them but BEWARE! Amazon customer service is absolutely terrible in helping you process the return. They keep telling me that the package is on its way when I already checked with UPS and theyre actually already delivered. Amazon customer service doesnt want to help me and they keep telling me that it takes two weeks for the package to be delivered. They also told me that someone from Returns was going to reach out to me by my email within 24-48 hours and its been over 48 hours since anyone has contacted me. Its stressing me out. Also I had the chance to choose the option to pay the headphones in a monthly payment plan so Im actually even more stressed and angry that they arent taking the return process quickly and seriously, because what if I end paying the next months payment and they still havent processed the return?! What then?! Im not paying for another monthly installment of headphones that I clearly returned and no longer own!! This is just a fair heads up that there are ups and downs when ordering anything highly priced with Amazon and when choosing to do monthly installments on highly priced items. -Also be careful if you plan to order any other expensive headphones like Sony or Bose, the whole amazon returns and customer service are just sadly terrible when it comes to returning any electronic devices overall. I would rather buy new headphones off of best buy or target in person if you want to try them out and not hassle with a whole return process like amazon- Headphones: 3/5 Amazon customer service: sadly a 0/5

    Have had these a month and wear them every day for work for teams meetings. The sound is amazing, noise cancelling spot on, but the product manager blew it on one thing. They didnt put a mute/unmute function on these. Sonys answer is to unmute in the application. So if you are on a teams meeting and are cooking lunch of course you will have yourself muted. The noise cancelling is good, but banging pots and pans will still come through somewhat. Or what if I want to say something to my wife while on the call? The range on the blue tooth is amazing which just means you have further to run back to your laptop to unmute. This is a complete pain in the you know what. So, if you are buying these for a plane only, go for it. I would submit that you dont need $400 headphones for a plane, they all do adequate at cancelling white noise. You need this level of functionality for work. You also need a mute button for work. Absolute huge miss Sony and I should not have assumed it was there.

    For those worried about either getting this or the previous model. This xm5 is worth it, the only thing is the design which depending on the person can look a little weird but the functions are top tier and the battery lasts so long

    It’s really too bad Sony can produce headphones that work so well, but they cannot produce a decent physical headset. The ear cups on these are noisy! They squeak and scrunch with the tiniest motion of the head, destroying the purpose of noise cancellation. Think they’re going back.

    I have so many sony products. So, when I needs a good headset, I went for sony. I got this expensitve headset through Amazon with promotioned price. But the headset can not do paring with my iphone. I made serveral phone calls with Sony tech support trying to resolve the issue. I even tried to get a new iphone to test it when I was told I did not have curent version iphone software to pair with this headset. But, none of these suggestions worked, so I ended up going to near-by Best Buy to have them giving me physical check with this new new headset and got resonese was this heasset was factory defective that I should contact with Sony for a repacement since I did not even have a chance to try it out. It took me over 2 weeks to receive a new replaced headset. Then again, this one gets even worse becuase it can not be powered. After talking to Sony tech support, they allowed me to do anyother return for 2nd replacement. After one and half month troubleshooting that I can not even hear a sound or song from this model of Sony headset, I was fed up but either the seller or Amazon could help me out and I was told that I have to deal with Sony from now on because purchase return period was expired. I dont know whatelse I can do at this point. I DON NOT RECOMMEND THIS HEADSET TO ANYONE even this model has so many excellent reviews unless you are very lucky--I had two new product and none of them was working. Plus, return your electronic product to Amazon right away when you find a prolbem with it. Dont try to figure out to fix the probem yourself.
