Greater than one weekMy hubby is a musician and records in our basement. Granted the acoustics arent great but weve taken some effort to put up think blankets/carpeting/etc. He was recording on two bluebirds before, and moving to this kit has COMPLETELY changed the sound quality (for the better I might add!), even in our crappy makeshift recording studio. Hes using Garage Band to edit, and has nothing but raves about these mics.

Greater than one weekI Recorded a little rudimentary snare drumming with the SM57, and with my pork pie snare, I hear it live with a lot of ring and overtone. However, on the recording, the drum sounds as clean as I have ever heard it! It really amazed me how great of a sound was produced out of these microphones!

> 3 dayIf youre doing live sound or a budget, or just starting to get into decent recording gear, this is definitely not a bad place to start. You can put an SM57 in front of just about anything and get a usable sound. A lot of people love them on snares and guitar cabs, and get fantastic sounds from them. Im sure you could get BETTER sound from other mics, but its a very versatile mic, and is a great bang for your buck. It would never hurt to have 3 in your mic locker... especially if youre doing live sound. I havent used mine live so I cant comment on the included rim mounts as I use stands in the studio, but they seem like theyd get the job done.

> 3 dayThis set is marketed as a drum mic kit but of course they can be used on anything. The shure sm57 paired with a MD421 is my preferred setup for guitar and 2 sm57 for the top and bottom snare. The beta52 can capture some beefy low end so I use it for inside the kick drum as well as bass amps. Definitely worth the price.

> 3 dayThe mics are fine but beware, the case is a soft zipper case, not the hard case they show. I expected to receive the lockable hard case which offers better protection and a greater degree of security. The zipper has nothing to accommodate a lock. Still a fair value, but its a bit of a bait-and-switch... disappointing.
