SENNHEISER HD 599 Open Back Headphone, Ivory

I use these headphones to game on PC. Sound quality is really top notch. The fact that no software is needed and you can just plug them into a cheap DAC and they work is fantastic. Ive struggled with Logitech, Astro, Razerz, HyperX, and Turtle Beach for a good quality headset that just works out of the box. My problem with all the previously listed brands is a hardware failure/defect, poor software, poor drivers, or a combination of all of these.

Wonderfully rich sound. I an not an audiophile but can really hear and feel a difference with these over my other phones though they were half the cost.

EDIT: 10/2021 - I now have these AND HD800S...I was ready to sell the 599 again but decided to pick up the Apple USB-C to 3.5mm dongle to see if there would be any improvement. After connecting these to the dongle...wow, big difference! No, its not as good as either my HD6XX or HD800S running through $1.5k of gear...but at $108 for a complete package (with the dongle) its damn good. A very popular question for this headphone is whether or not an amp is needed. Personally, Im still indecisive on that, but I do recommend a DAC of some sort to clean up the signal from your computer/phone/etc., the $8 Apple USB-C to 3.5mm dongle would be a great option.

Decent sound, punchy and quite balanced frequencies. Treble not as clear as some other headphones but matter of preferences. 3 stars because right and left channel are imbalanced so I have to manually fix this in Windows to bring the right side quieter - pretty shoddy quality control given the price.
