This drive sped my kid’s 2006 HP compaq 6000 pro mt up to 2020 speeds! I had to wait 10 minutes for Windows 10 to boot up and become usable, and another 5 minutes for the kid’s Launch Box (retro console game emulation) program to start up. It was so painful. Now, Windows starts up in 1 minute, and launch box starts in 10 seconds! Not to mention the benchmarks! The SSD is doing 280MB/s while the old hard drive is getting 66MB/s transfer rate. Now wonder their computer was slow! Samsung has a great Disk Migration/Cloning application on their website. Funny they don’t mention it in the manual that comes with the drive. It only took 2 hours to clone 92 GB of data including the OS. Samsung Magician is also great for getting the benchmarks. I want another one of these for my computer!

Bought this after a hard drive crashed. The 860 EVO is not top performance, but it does the job consistently. SSDs are a great mid-tier way to improve gaming and graphic/video editing capability. This level of solid state hard drives are all pretty much similar in terms of speed and price per gigabyte. What makes this hard drive better is the Samsung data migration tool. It makes replicating the replacement drive super simple. You dont have to buy extra software or put your partitioning skills to the test. Just follow the instructions and youll be set.

Bought this to breath some life into an old laptop, working from home and school from home has stretched my surplus of spare machines. Cloned hdd to this ssd, installed and went from 2 minute startup to 20 second startup. Highly recommend this for older laptops that can take advantage of the speed upgrade.

Absolutely one of the best upgrades you can do for any computer. Super fast upgrade and easy to install. Samsung has a software migration tool you can use to clone your old drive over to a new one. I went from a 250Gb hard drive to a 500Gb one and it only took about 15 minutes for the clone to complete. Once done, shut down the PC and remove the old drive and the new one will take its place.

Im an old school MacBook Pro user (A1278) and after years and years of using a mechanical drive, I knew it was time to upgrade. This Samsung SSD was the perfect choice for what I needed. I plan to buy another SSDs for my desktop PC soon. The boot times along with load times of apps and other things is unreal due to the fact that this SSD is much better then what I had before. If youre looking for a 500GB SSD theres no reason to look any further.

This is my second Samsung SSD. I love them. If you are replacing a laptopn HDD with this disk you can download Samsungs Magician sorftware for free and it makes cloning the HDD to the SSD a snap. It also allow you to benchmark and set up your SSD for your application. You will need a USB connector for the trnsfer but they are available for about $15. Once you have cloned it you just shut down your laptop, insert the new SSD and voila -- you laptop is now 3x as fast. I used mine as an external drive on an XBOX and it really speeds up game loading.

So Far, works good. A small problem formatting to 4GB in 64 Bit Windows 10. But with help, got it working with all 4GB. Only 1 month old but works and is fast. A little pricey but Amazon allows for several months payout with no interest. GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE AMAZON!
