Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76E1T0B/AM)

I use two fo these Samsung 860 EVO 1TB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD to replace my OEM Toshiba analog 1TB HDs in my custom Qosmio model X870 And what a difference an SSD makes over an analog HD. Boot time is almost nonexistent any more. By the time Ive got the mouse turned on the putter is ready to go. All my programs are loaded the internet is online and ready to go and the internet radio station is up and playing. Before it would take at least 30 sec to 1 min for everything be ready to rock and roll! And the best thing was I got them on sale during Amazons xmas sale.

Samsung makes great solid state drives and easy/useful management software.

Installed on late 2011 macbook pro along with 16gb of ram and now my computer runs like its new and its fast. Beats spending 5-1000 $ on a new computer. Mac book will last me another 2-5 years.

After many, many frustrating hours of freezes at 99% with Samsungs migration software, running CHKDSK C: /r in CMD mode from Windows search ,as well as trying Macriums, and EaseUSs cloning and backup software [including several hours with the latters helpful tech support ], HDTune Pro identified bad physical sectors on my old C: drive. CHKDSK and other disk repair apps can fix damaged soft sectors, but not hard ones.

I replaced my HDD with the 1TB SSD and the difference has been substantial. My computer starts in a matter of seconds, as opposed to several minutes with the old drive. Games load faster and it doesnt make any noise while running. I was able to clone my old hard drive using Samsungs software and it worked perfectly. Be sure to buy a USB to SATA cable if you are cloning, and plan for it to take several hours. The only thing I would do differently is buy a 2TB drive for the extra space.

Our old IT guy had set us up with hard drives...my IT guy told me about the SSD. My computer was running soooo slow...we installed and BOOM everything comes up faster. So we installed them in the rest of the office my staff thinks Im a hero lol

Drive came as expected. Very simple to clone and install. Works well. MUCH quicker than a conventional hard drive. We will see about longevity, but so far no issues at all.

fast and quiet

The price of SSDs has come down quite a bit making them much more affordable. I just purchased a Razor Blade 15 (mid 2019) laptop which came with 500GB NVMe drive which is blazing fast, but I needed something for all the other files. I am not a gamer, I am a graphics guy who uses Autodesk and Adobe products along with VirtualBox virtual machines (some at 100GB in size) and this drive has been perfect so far. I have purchased numerous Samsung SSDs over the years and they have all been rock solid and still running without issues. I ran a CrystalDiskMark comparison between this and my older 840 EVO and not only is the 860 twice the storage, it is also significantly faster for a SATA III SSD (over 30% faster in Read speed and over 20% faster in Write speed when compared to the 840 EVO).
