Fast drive, i think ps5 calculated in the 6582.xxx MB/s read speed. I do have a heat sink but i only put the thermal pad on the top with the actual finned top piece. The bottom memory is just straight against the bottom of the heatsink which is just flat aluminum, so its probably a fraction better then nothing there on that side. Anyways, back to the review. The drive was an easy install into the PS5, the PS5 asks to format it, then will give you a drive speed, then you can start copying games from main console SSD to the expanded ssd drive. This copy was super fast, it was over within minutes, copying some of the latest games games over to the new drive. Which still leaves me with almost 3tb left, all my ps4 games on an external usb hard drive which is fine. Anyways, so far super reliable, quick load speeds, no problems.

When looking to add extra storage to my PS5 I looked at the options available and found that this heatsink combined with a bare SSD was the best solution in terms of both cost and performance.

Love the idea of replacing the PS5s ssd cover with this heatsink. Unlike heatsinks you attach directly to the drive, this heatsink has some weight to it. Surprisedly heavy. Grooves are placed atop to maximize the directional airflow from the PS5s fan. A thermal pad is already attached to the bottom side and runs the full length of the cover. After inserting thought drive into the PS5, peel the plastic on the thermal pad and secure the cover in place of the original cover using the same screw the PS5 came with. Slap your side panel back on and boot up. Very easy to install

Wife got me 4 of the 2TB, since we liked the two 1tb I already owned. I initialized them, everything seemed fine. Copied my data over and the next day 2 of them werent showing up. I looked in the bios and they were there. I went to storage management and it said I needed to initialize those 2 drives again. I said fine, Ive got the data backed up. Chose to initialize and got the error message that Ive chosen a device that does not exist.
