The product is wonderful. But I had a problem. The CD key did not work and I had to write an email to Roxio to request support. They sent me a new CD key to register my product. I never knew what happened. But it is working.

YAY!!! We can finally enjoy our favorite home movies easily again without having to dust off the VCR and pray it still works - ha! This software was quick and easy to install and use - didnt curse once! ;) Excellent product - why pay for a service when this is so easy? Update: taking it down to 4 stars - still a good product but I found that about once every 5 tapes or so the sound will cut out partway though and you have to redo. VCR head cleaner helps. I have to run one after about every other tape or I really have trouble.

After I got everything connected and running, it looked like everything was working well and then as set up was just starting I got an error message saying, “unknown error”. I don’t know if I should return this product or take the time to reconnect everything again. I’m very disappointed because I bought it to copy one very important VHS tape I don’t want to lose.

The Good -- Ive used Roxio products for many years off and on -- always found them useful and user friendly. Always accomplished what I bought it for. The software on this product for MAC is great. Once installed it was simple to set up and begin converting VHS tapes. the BAD -- the device that connects to my laptop is terrible. First it took a lot of time and effort troubleshooting why there was no picture. I had to google it -- and found out you have to plug it straight to the laptop usb. New Mac laptops (at least mine) does not have the standard USB port anymore. Got out my older laptop, confirmed all was in working order and tried again. You have to wiggle and maneuver and wiggle and pull and wiggle, etc. ALOT before the picture will display. The tape is running, all the audio is playing but the video is not. Once you get the cable and USB JUST RIGHT -- DONT TOUCH IT!!! It will take forever to try and wiggle it back in position. Its like the USB on the Roxio device just does not fit and connect well in the usb port on my laptop. now -- its not displaying a picture anymore. It was an hour ago, now nothing. the video still plays, sound still going -- and I didnt touch the device or move the laptop at all. So very disappointed in the quality.

I would give this product no stars if possible. While I was able to convert a VHS to a digital format it was impossible to convert to a DVD because the audio was always out of sync and lagged behind the video. My whole purpose was to be able to create DVDs of our home movies. I wasted at least 20 hours, many blank DVD disks which always had this lag. I contacted tech support who did not seem to understand the problem, Even after explaining it a number of times in several emails. Their solutions was to uninstall and then reinstall which made no difference at all. They just didn’t get that the problem was not so much with the VHS to video portion but with being able to create the DVD with their included software. So, if your goal is to convert VHS to DVDs, I suggest you don’t waste your time or your money.

Shouldve read the reviews. If I could give zeroes, I would. This is easily the most useless and time-wasting program ever. I bought the new program because I was assured that it was compatible with Catalina and the whole 64-bit thing. Instructions for wiping my old Easy VHS to DVD program off my hard drive was confusing. Numerous (spelled many, many) attempts to hook up with Tech Support, if you can call it that, finally resulted in being able to load the new program and capture video. Yea! Right? BUT . . . you cannot hear the audio through the computer while recording, only through the camcorder. Saving and playing back a captured video not only produces no audio, but playback is in 2X fast forward. I hooked the camcorder to a TV and other devices and it works fine. The program DOES NOT. Many more attempts at support resulted in the advice to launch the program and then add the playback device when prompted. Did that. Same results. Its not like Im new to Roxio and Easy VHS to DVD. My old program allowed me to capture and save over 150 videos. Many reviews warned of incompatibility with Catalina. Guess what?!? They are right. Dont waste your time.

I bought the product to convert my wedding VHS tapes from 21 years ago. I am running Mac OS 10.5.8 on a 2008 model Mac Pro. It worked well converting my first tape to a digital file. No issue of drop outs as reported on some posts. I have yet to burn the DVD, but this should work as well. I will repost at a leter date if this is not the case. I gave it 4 stars because there are some other similar hardware products (? igrabber)through Meritline that cost half the price that may work as well, but I am less sure about the accompanying software. I went with the Roxio product because not spending hours tracking down acompanying software is not worth the $25 in cost savings. Purchase through Amazon was a charm as usual.

I found a bunch of old tapes and wanted to get them into a digital format. I looked up this product, and although I saw a lot of bad reviews for it not working on OSX 10.6, I saw a few others said it worked fine. I have 10.7, which I just upgraded a little while ago from 10.5, and it works fine. I plugged in the software, plugged in the cables and updated anything that needed to be updated and boom its there. Ive already ripped 3 VHS tapes onto my Mac. You just have to let it play as its recording. Which is good if you want to watch the video again right before you start editing it. You can also mute the audio so you can continue facebooking or whatever it is you kids do.

I had purchased it because it said that you did not need to have internet access to be able to use this program. The software on the included disc will not load unless you are connected to the internet. I had to call for assistance and they took down the serial number and my order number from when I purchased it and took a few days to get back to me saying I could not use the program without the internet. If you do not have internet access, you will not be able to load the software program. Since there is no volume control on VCR’s, all of the programs record at full maxed out volume levels and are distorted when you try to playback any discs that you create from this program. I have wasted many hours recording VCR tapes to this program. The audio records at the maximum volume. You can turn the volume all the way down on your television when you try to play back the disc and you can still hear it. I thought about connecting a mixer between the VCR and the computer. I may need to purchase the cables to connect it and give it a try.

I am no computer whiz and I found this product to be extremely easy to use. I spent about 5 minutes hooking up the connections and installing the software. When I opened the application, it played my video and it was very intuitive to record, pause, and save. I am running 10.6. The one glitch I have caught (which is the only reason this is not 5 stars) is with fast forward. I generally cannot watch it fast forward and one time it cause the software to freeze. I just closed it and relaunched and it worked just fine. Please dont let the negative reviews stop you from buying this product.
