We filled them up with some heavy stuff (among other items, each bag had a glass bottle of root beer) and hand delivered to each house before the party. Once dry, this is permanent due the bag being porous. (I wanted their names to stay on the bags.) The kids loved them! And it gave the look of a blackboard with colorful chalk!
