> 24 hourThis was only my third quilt and I found her step by step instructions easy to follow and understand. I’m not as careful as I might be, and reading other reviews about the end look of the seaweed convinced me to leave that part out. One thing I will say, if you don’t like working with tiny pieces this pattern is not for you! But if you don’t mind a challenge then it’s hard to mess up.

> 24 hourVery cute, intermediate level, but the kelp blocks are kind of ugly and don’t really fit with the other blocks (IMO). They are also hard to make following the given directions. They end up looking very wonky that way unless you are a perfect quilter (pic 1, green). They look much better if you use different fabrics from your color group and a print for the leaves (pic 2). I recommend piecing them in 5 groups of three and two groups of two for better results (pic 3, pink). Seam allowance is not at all forgiving in these blocks. I found using a precise scant 1/4” was best. There are lots of diagonal seams, so it’s not the easiest to piece. It definitely will force you to improve your quilting skills. The pattern directions are very easy to follow, and the cutting directions are as well. Makes the actual piecing go very quickly (30-45 min/block). I used batiks and love how it’s turning out.
