> 3 dayI bought this to replace a fan I had on my H80i self contained water cooling system for my CPU. The fans would sound much like a vacuum when it would start revving up to cool the CPU down. It got to be loud enough to be a real annoyance while gaming or even just at idle.

Greater than one weekMy first Noctua fan, and wont be my last. Extremely high quality parts and packaging. You truly get what you pay for. The fan is very quiet and moves a decent amount of air. I use it as my rear exhaust fan in my Fractal Design Define C Mini.

> 3 dayYou can shove the extra posts into your unused audio connectors on the motherboard, makes it easier to plug everything back in the same spot. I trimmed off a bit as well, but not necessary.

The reputation of Noctua is far from the hype and rest assured these are worth the extra money ~ obviously they are not the prettiest fans on the market but if you want quiet fans that deliver excellent airflow and pressure then Noctua is light years ahead than all the rest.

The NF-S12A marks the third generation of Noctua’s signature S12 series quiet case fans, which have received more than 250 awards and recommendations from the international press. Featuring a further refined blade design with Anti-Stall Knobs that works in tandem with the new AAO (Advanced Acoustic Optimisation) frame, the NF-S12A improves the airflow/noise efficiency of its renowned predecessor by up to 8%. The PWM version sports Noctua’s custom designed NE-FD1 IC for fully automatic speed control via 4-pin fan headers and comes with a Low-Noise-Adaptor to reduce the maximum speed during PWM control from 1200 to 900rpm. Anti-Stall Knobs
The NF-S12A"s Anti-Stall Knobs reduce flow separation phenomena in medium to high impedance situations and thereby increase the fan"s stall margin. This means that the NF-S12A is even more versatile than its renowned predecessor and can achieve better performance on heatsinks and radiators.
