NETGEAR 8-Port Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switch (GS308) - Home Network Hub, Office Ethernet Splitter, Plug-and-Play, Silent Operation, Desktop or Wall Mount

This review summarizes my experience with my GS116, Netgears service, and the ProSafe limited lifetime warranty.

Plug and play is the way to go. This device was easy to setup and works great. I wouldn’t Spend my money on anything else.

This product is a great one designed to achieve maximum performance.

It served the purpose that It was required for...value for the buck

Stopped working after 8 months of use. I didn’t realize it but after 4 months my wired speeds had slowed down to 15 mbps from 200 mbps. I had blamed it on the ISP but my wireless was still at 200 mbps. I just figured I had a bad wire somewhere. Nope. The whole time it was this device and now it doesn’t work at all. I plugged in the 5 port version of this I was using in my computer room and all my wired accessories are at 200 mbps.

I have always had two networks in my house, one directly on the ISP router LAN, one off an inner router than treats the outer as a WAN. The ISP controls the firmware in the outer router and I dont trust them. But a situation arose where I needed both networks in other rooms, and I had only one network cable fished through to those rooms. So, I went to smart switches and VLANs. I bought three of these, one 8 port and two 5 port.

It is plug and play. As simple as it gets.

Very good and efficient switch. Small an convenient. Worked without any special set up. Right out of the box. I connected all 8 of my wired devices and all get great internet connection. I have gigabit service and this switch is a gigabit switch and helps to get all my wired devices online.

I recently bought both the GS305 and GS308 to up latency performance in my home network (half-duplex WiFi to full-duplex wired). Both work as expected and performance is better now.

Does exactly what its supposed to do. Got it to go with my google nest router since it only has one ethernet port. Works like a charm.
