This is the last work horse of the bushcraft knife I’ve bought. It will serves me a lifetime. I’m a big fan of carbon steel blades ( MORAKNIV also sells one with a stainless steel blade ). You cannot beat price/quality of MORAKNIV knifes IMHO.

Update. I emailed customer support and after about a week I received a reply. They asked for the batch number of my knife and offered to send me a replacement. The replacement arrived the other day and was much sharper out of the box. Upping my review to 4 stars. First, let me say I like the knife and probably wont return it. It seems very well made, I like the polymer handle and sheath. It feels very comfortable in either hand. Its the first knife of its kind Ive owned, so take that for what it is worth. First thing I did when I got it was to try to slice some paper. Wow, really dull from a premium knife perspective. It feels sharp, but could not slice paper of shave arm hair at all. Several people suggested I strop it which I did and now it is very sharp. But I feel it should have come out of the box like that. I also emailed Moraknivs support asking why it was dull and should I expect to have to touch it up out of the box. No response so far other than an automated email. Maybe its Swedish New Year and the support department is on vacation? Once I got is stropped out to my satisfaction, I did some woodsman stuff in the back yard. Shaved some branches, split some logs for tinder hitting it with a stick etc. Performed very well. I even stuck a fire using ferocerium sticks. Next morning it appears I may have accidentally used the cutting side to strike a fire at least once. No apparent damage to the blade and the mark wiped right off I like this knife. Its a good weight and seems like it will be a good basic camping knife. The black color and blade may come back to bite me since it will most likely make it impossible to find at night. Im thinking about tying off some reflective tent cord to make it more visible at night. Will definitely need to attend to keeping the blade dry/oiled since it will see a fair amount of water in Florida camping and I dont want it rusting up. I think this is a good knife, probably overpriced. The lack of a response from the support bothers me. Not going to return it, but next time Ill probably try a different brand.

In my opinion the Morakniv Garberg is one of the best well rounded knives you can own. Solid construction and quality build. Very sharp. The multi purpose sheath is well made however you will not be able to mount in a scout position. I am doubt-full that a Tec Loc clip would add much but I believe it would be possible. I feel that the clip thou would add additional size (bulk) and therefore would not be suitable for this type of carry. I would suggest the Top Hand Large fixed blade leather sheath which will fit perfectly. Soak in water, form to the knife, dye it a black color if you like dry and apply a good leather oil. Worked perfectly on a Kabar Mark 1 knife and I plan on setting this knife up the same. Also, you can add the survival kit which I think is a nice option. Mounting the sheath to packs or web gear is no problem. You can also screw mount the sheath in your truck or any other location. Would highly recomend this knife. Now as for Caron vs Stainless blade. Carbon will in fact rust and you need to keep a light coat of good oil on the blade. With that said, I would still choose Carbon over Stainless any day of the week for ease of sharping and edge retention. Have numerous knives from Templar, Zero Tolerance etc. For the money you will not go wrong purchasing any Mora knife.

If you expect a 90$ k ofe to have a fully sharpened blade and a nice point at the end...stay away from this. It is hefty it is solid but i had to spend 1.5 hrs re profiling the blade as it came with a rounded tip. I had to make sure the knife wasnt a safety knife thats how rounded off it way. Mora quality is slacking

Ok... right out of the box, wow! Sturdy and very appealing. Rugged and definitely dependable. That being said, it was not sharp. Had to put some elbow to it

Despite reviews to the contrary, this blade is INSANELY sharp. The spine perfectly flat ground with a slight burr to the edge for a Ferro Rod device.

Howdy forest people out there, Just received the Garberg. I had big expectations for this blade. Sad thing is that this is one of the dullest blades I have seen out of the box. Could barely pash the simple-straight-cut paper test. I have three other knives from the cheaper Morakniv series and I was always impressed of how good they are out of the box. Not the case with the Garberg. I am not sure why. Maybe they thicker blade made them go for a more obtuse edge angle. For a rought comparison, its new edge performes the same as my 2.5-year old Mora Pro S (with light to moderate use in the bush and without edge touchups).

So, I and others have tried certain blades made in elsalvador, and Ukraine, Im sure, and they do a knifes job really well. I always figured flint and steel was a joke for fire starting, until I hit it on this bad boy. The higher carbon steel makes the WORLD of difference in that department, and finally a full tang from mora, a knife that Ive loved for a long time, lets me have peace of mind no matter what Im doing! Fantastic knife!
