I have been using this product for well over a year so the review is much needed. I can start by saying this monitor is def made for gaming with a vibrant and colorful picture right out of the box. The ghosting on this monitor is very minimal but response time should stay on fast and not the fastest option. 144hz 2k monitor at this price for gaming is truly a steal, enjoy it while you can.

Thought this would be a great budget option to upgrade from my 27 1080p 60hz LG monitor as I own a PS5 and wanted to have improved resolution and response time. Im more of a casual gamer so I primarily use my monitor for work from home tasks and teams sharing. After using for for WFH I noticed significant eye strain compared to my previous monitor. May be just adjusting to the smaller resolution but I saw a lot of users with similar issues on Reddit. After more research I realized this is using a BOE MV270QHM-NF1 panel and not an LG panel and I also observed significant glow in the lower left hand corner. Gaming on my PS5 was great (turn off adaptive sync to get 1440p 120hz) but ultimately as this is a productivity first monitor I had to send it back. If youre just looking for a strictly gaming option at an affordable price wait for it to drop down to $246 and pick it up.

Ill be frank. Im having a hard time understanding the rave reviews from others. I used this monitor to replace an old Dell monitor that was so old it didnt even have full HD. While this monitor is definitely better, it did not wow me like I expected it to based on reviews her on Amazon. Is the picture clearer? Sure. Are the colors more vibrant? Yeah, thats noticeably better. However, I stacked this up against a Dell S2719DGF which is $100 cheaper and has 165 Hz refresh. The Dell also had a great picture with good color, almost as good as this LG, even though its not an IPS panel. Plus, it felt like it was a more solidly built monitor (e.g. the joystick on the LG feels cheap - like its going to stop working at any time.) The audio, specifically the DAC, on this LG is worse than the Dell. However, both are not good enough for me to use; direct to on-board audio is much better. I just cant see the big hype of this LG for the extra $100. I returned the Dell, oddly enough, because Dell customer service was a mess. They told me they would provide very limited support, because this FreeSync compatible monitor was connected to an NVIDIA card. That was pretty much a mess-up on their part, but nonetheless, a bit too shaky for me to keep the monitor. BTW - I have 3 LG TVs, so I know what to expect by way of quality and customer service. Plus, I obviously had a Dell monitor for years, plus a few Dell laptops, so I know that company pretty well too. This LG and the Dell both play well. G-Sync with my GTX 1060 worked seamlessly (pun intended) on both, even though the Dell is not considered G-Sync compatible. Plus, refresh rate is good on both. Incidentally, LG missed an opportunity with the software you can download to control monitor settings within Windows. They should include the ability to switch monitor modes with a shortcut. This would all but remove the need for the joystick (for my purposes). In general, the software is pretty useless. Even the feature to switch modes based on the running application does not work properly. A shame really - a lot of potential there. So, in the end, Im keeping this LG because it is officially G-Sync compatible, although it still does not show on the official list at NVIDIA (the 27GL850 does). Plus, it does have a good picture and the refresh rate is decent. However, its not worth the extra $100, if you can get over the limited support from Dell.

I have had this monitor for a bit over a year now. It has performed great for me and I am happy with my purchase. I have seen other reviews where people are experiencing issues with the screen flickering after a few days to months of use. I have had no such problem thus far. This is the nicest monitor I have owned and have been blown away with its performance. I use this single monitor for looking at family photos, browsing the internet, watching streamed movies/shows and playing games like Fallout 4 and Final Fantasy XV. The graphics are great. I have this monitor paired with an Nvidia GTX 1660 Supper, I think an RTX 3060ti or 3070 would be better for the 1440p gaming but those RTX cards are the same as gold right now. Based solely on my experience, I would recommend this monitor to others, especially if you catch it on sale. Like any product these days, I feel its a roll of the dice any time I make a purchase. 90% of the time things work out fine, the other 10% seems to fail spectacularly.

These LG Ultragear Gaming Monitors are still great in 2023. From the 1440p & 144hz, to the amazing OSD/UI for your desired settings. The stub on the bottom controls the OSD, and WOW! I never thought navigating through a OSD was so seemless (as Ive only had office Monitors before hand). Great upgrade, and excellent product. Note: Most people dont know about the required 1y warranty by LG. Just contact them, tell them the problem, and send it in to be repaired.

Received monitor in a timely fashion, but it doesnt work as advertised. Claims to work at 144hz refresh rate, but glitches out with green/white/blue lines across the screen when running at 144hz. The screen will also go blank for as little as 3 seconds to up to 30 seconds making games unplayable when it occurs. When switching down to 120hz cap on refresh rate, monitor works fine, but that isnt what I purchased the screen for. Wanted to get a replacement through Amazon but they refused to give me a replacement, only offered to refund me which I did not want a refund since I got the monitor on a discounted deal. Now I am trying to get LG to repair the monitor but they arent capable of sending a shipping label to my email when they say I should be receiving it. I am now on my third attempt trying to get a repair shipping label from LG since they said they cannot send them immediately, it should be sent by the end of the day. Worst experience with both Amazon and LG ever. Would not recommend either since neither are willing to replace the monitor. Update: Was able to send the unit for repair through the LG website. This has been the worst experience I have ever had to deal with. First it took 5 attempts to get their support staff to send an email with the shipping label which took over a week of back and forth them telling me to wait and then me complaining that it shouldnt be this difficult to send me a shipping label. Though the repair took about 1 week after the allotted shipping time which was quick. The downside was the unit was not fixed at all, it still had the same issue where it would get a line glitching across the screen and then goes blank for up to 30 seconds. So now the day I got it back I am now being asked to wait for another shipping label for them to repair my unit again, this time I asked for a new unit as replacement but they refused since they demand I have to send it in at least 3 times for repair before that can be an option. LG make terrible products and I will actively tell others to avoid their garbage products and support. Update 2: Just received the monitor from repairs from LG, they sent it without the power cable and am now waiting to hear back about what they can do for me. Cant even test the monitor if it has been properly fixed until I get a new power cable. Very disappointing and extremely frustrating experience dealing with their support services for repairs.

In the quest for finding the most value for money gaming monitor, prior to buying LG 27GL83A-B I own a Dell S2417DG (1440p with GSYNC) , though the specs are great with this Dell monitor for the price its offered , there were major banding issues with the TN Panel , had to do custom calibration and gamma adjustments to get a picture quality anywhere near to acceptable. With all my other monitors being IPS panel with high color accuracy I just couldnt get satisfied with Dell . As I started searching the market again, every IPS 1440P gaming monitor with high response rate was way beyond my budget for casual gaming. And now LG brought this gem of a IPS gaming monitor to the market for a reasonable price. It doesnt have G-SYNC hardware module like the Dell S417DG since its adaptive sync driven , but really who cares? G-SYNC still works flawlessly with Nvidia GPU , Runs at 144 Hz , great blacks, decent factory calibration and color accuracy and I highly recommend to keep the response rate at factory default . At 144hz the default response time works just fine . To top it LG panel and overall product quality is top notch - no dead pixels, no noticeable bleed, no flimsy plastics. Its a no brainer buy for the price . Go for it and you wouldnt regret. 1440P is the current sweet spot for gaming monitors, unless you own a crazy powerful rig on SLI to run games at 4k. I bet you still wont be able to max out anywhere near to 144hz especially if you are into FPS. Cons: Its hard to be giving any negative for this product considering the price, however few small things 1) You cannot swivel the screen 2) Switching to Faster Response rate causes negative ghosting (Only if you look for it) 3) Doesnt have the RGB light circle behind the monitor like other LG Gaming monitors , instead its a Red Circle strip. Now My Gaming PC (Red and Black theme) and this Monitor goes so well together, I dont even know if thats a Con. Mostly a personal preference or choice.

So far impressed with this display, just upgraded from 1080p and 24” to 1440p 27” and im shocked how big of a difference it has made in my experience. If you have a smaller or older monitor and want to try a QHD, this thing is a great starting point and a bountiful upgrade for the price. Also would like to note it was insanely easy to set up, to the point where I pulled out some screws and realized i didnt even have to. Comes with hdmi and DP cables, and the heigh adjustment is as easy as grabbing it and moving it where you want. Love it, made my desk a battle station.

UPDATE: With calibration/tuning/adjustments these monitors are decent. I went through Windows color, brightness, and contrast settings a few times and monitor settings to get them usable. I generally use the P series Dell monitors. I replaced 2 Dell P2419H monitors (handing down to kids) which Ive purchased literally over 1000 of (P2417H, P2419H, P2422H) and are great monitors. Unfortunately the P2722H still has 1080P resolution and loses sharpness at 27. I have 2 P2722Hs on the floor and test one right beside the LG27GL83A-B and out of the box no adjustments the Dell monitor has better black and color levels. Side by side the Dell monitor was pixely since its 1080P rather than 1440P like the LG. My initial review out of the box was pure disappointment and I intended to return these. Adjustments changed my mind. Before adjustments the black levels were brownish grey off axis (while sitting and looking at the bottom left corner my background and Start menu/taskbar where brownish grey. If I moved directly in front of the area the black areas were black, no hint of grey or brown. The Dell monitors do not have this issue. Maybe its just the ones that were on sale?.. I dont know. Im keeping the boxes for the return period, jury is still out while I use them over the next 30-45 days. They are larger, sharper, and have higher refresh rate and that was my point.
