LG UltraGear QHD 27-Inch Gaming Monitor 27GL83A-B - IPS 1ms (GtG), with HDR 10 Compatibility, NVIDIA G-SYNC, and AMD FreeSync, 144Hz, Black

Ive owned LG monitors before (specifically an Ultra 4K). I bought this monitor for primarily the specs! I needed 1440p and 144Hz. I have come to realize that a 27 monitor is perfect for me, as 32 and higher tend to be less precise and detailed for this resolution. The brightness is OK, but the color is awesome on this panel. The only area that concerned me at all when I got it up and running is that there is a slight shadowing along the left and right edge of the panel. Not enough to scare me away, but enough that I noticed. I typically only notice it when Im looking for it! Keep in mind when buying a monitor, there is always a bit of panel lottery that you can look forward to. On the bright side, there were NO Stuck or Dead pixels on this panel. My last monitor (pretty much the same specs) had a couple of dead pixels that were unrecoverable. The GUI on the this monitor is accessed on the power button at the bottom of the screen. It is a joystick style button that is very easy to use and make changes with. My last monitor had four specific buttons on the bottom of the monitor to access the GUI. I cant tell you how many times I messed up navigating around with that setup. This one is quick and easy. The available settings are adequate, but not that robust. Enough to dial in the monitor with basic settings. The bezel is fairly borderless on the top and sides. But even though the panel goes almost to the very edge of the display, the lighted area of the panel still leaves a about a quarter inch black border on those three sides. The bottom border has the LG logo, and is about 5/8 tall. The display powers on fairly quickly, and doesnt annoy you with a manufacturers splash screen. It only takes a couple of seconds for power-on to ready! Windows 10 recognized this monitor right away when I hooked it up, and even set itself to 144Hz without me doing anything at all. It is nVidia compatible, and is on nVidias approved list (my last monitor worked just fine, but was not on the approved list). I got this when it was temporarily price reduced, so keep your eye on it, or put it in your wish list items and wait for it to go on sale. This one went on sale, and was sold out on Amazon within half a day. The price jumped almost 30% later the day I bought this one, and was no longer in stock. I dont think you can go wrong with this product, and would recommend it to almost anyone.

Once calibrated delivers an outstanding color range. Big change from 1080 TN. Suffers from some backlight bleed in the bottom left but not distracting. No swivel. I do wish the monitor could drop a little lower. Contrast isnt the best but this is to be expected with an ips panel. Not a big difference between the rest of the options at this price point. My only gripe with the monitor isnt specific to this one but most LG monitors; deep sleep. Unless you set in windows for your monitors to never sleep, the LG will go into a deep sleep feature and appear disconnected, consequently switching your main monitor and moving your desktop icons. If you have multiple monitors be sure to turn off the LG last when youre done and turn it on first when you begin again. Otherwise, love this monitor. No dealbreakers here and not upgrading for a long time

I have been using this product for well over a year so the review is much needed. I can start by saying this monitor is def made for gaming with a vibrant and colorful picture right out of the box. The ghosting on this monitor is very minimal but response time should stay on fast and not the fastest option. 144hz 2k monitor at this price for gaming is truly a steal, enjoy it while you can.

This monitor is high quality for its price or it was when I bought it but its now obsolete and I can only recommend it if its on a significant lower price than the nano version. Rtings have a custom ICC profile for this monitor, you may check that out in case that you decide to buy this. These UltraGear monitors will perform well and it comes with a stand that will allow you to rotate the monitor in case that you want to play a game with Tate mode. It comes with both HDMI and DP cables. BTW keep in mind that these monitors dont have DP 2.0 connection.

Ill be frank. Im having a hard time understanding the rave reviews from others. I used this monitor to replace an old Dell monitor that was so old it didnt even have full HD. While this monitor is definitely better, it did not wow me like I expected it to based on reviews her on Amazon. Is the picture clearer? Sure. Are the colors more vibrant? Yeah, thats noticeably better. However, I stacked this up against a Dell S2719DGF which is $100 cheaper and has 165 Hz refresh. The Dell also had a great picture with good color, almost as good as this LG, even though its not an IPS panel. Plus, it felt like it was a more solidly built monitor (e.g. the joystick on the LG feels cheap - like its going to stop working at any time.) The audio, specifically the DAC, on this LG is worse than the Dell. However, both are not good enough for me to use; direct to on-board audio is much better. I just cant see the big hype of this LG for the extra $100. I returned the Dell, oddly enough, because Dell customer service was a mess. They told me they would provide very limited support, because this FreeSync compatible monitor was connected to an NVIDIA card. That was pretty much a mess-up on their part, but nonetheless, a bit too shaky for me to keep the monitor. BTW - I have 3 LG TVs, so I know what to expect by way of quality and customer service. Plus, I obviously had a Dell monitor for years, plus a few Dell laptops, so I know that company pretty well too. This LG and the Dell both play well. G-Sync with my GTX 1060 worked seamlessly (pun intended) on both, even though the Dell is not considered G-Sync compatible. Plus, refresh rate is good on both. Incidentally, LG missed an opportunity with the software you can download to control monitor settings within Windows. They should include the ability to switch monitor modes with a shortcut. This would all but remove the need for the joystick (for my purposes). In general, the software is pretty useless. Even the feature to switch modes based on the running application does not work properly. A shame really - a lot of potential there. So, in the end, Im keeping this LG because it is officially G-Sync compatible, although it still does not show on the official list at NVIDIA (the 27GL850 does). Plus, it does have a good picture and the refresh rate is decent. However, its not worth the extra $100, if you can get over the limited support from Dell.

This was a big upgrade from my ancient 1020p ViewSonic, but after about a week of use, I noticed a dead pixel. After reading the LG Support horror story review here, I decided Id just let it be -- its usually not noticeable. Just FYI, if youve never used an HDR monitor for Windows 10, you will likely need to adjust the HDR brightness settings separately, otherwise the display may seem too dark for you for everyday use.

I bought this monitor for both remote work and gaming about six months ago and its been a significant upgrade from my old Dell U2711, which is now my second monitor. The feature set is good for the price and Ive recommended this monitor to others who are looking for an upgrade for their gaming rig. Pros: - Good picture with low ghosting at high refresh frame rates, when driven from an NVIDIA card in G-SYNC Compatible mode at 144Hz over DisplayPort. The monitor has a setting to control the response time vs. ringing tradeoff, and also shows in the OSD the current frame rates being received from the video card. - Supports HDR video input. - Control panel is fast and responds immediately to joystick controls, unlike some other monitors Ive used that have annoying delays in the menu controls. This includes fast input switching, which I do a lot from having two computers hooked to it. - Runs cool, can barely feel any heat emitted. - No problems taking off the default stand and mounting on a standard VESA monitor arm. Cons: - Some backlight bleed in the lower-left corner, though Ive gotten used to it. From what Ive heard, this can vary significantly from unit to unit. - Really poor sound quality, which sounds like loud bursts of noise when listening to music. Its noticeably worse than any other audio output I have, including the U2711, laptop headphone jack, or USB-C dock, driving it over DisplayPort or HDMI, and with either an NVIDIA or Intel graphics card output. Couldnt figure it out until I played a sine wave sweep in Audacity and heard blatant aliasing around 6KHz. Do not get this monitor if you care about quality from the audio output. - HDR over HDMI from a GTX 1650 Super on Windows 10 was distorted (compressed), though DisplayPort input was fine. Its also not very good at HDR in general, but its useful if you just need to be able to test or experiment with HDR and dont care much about HDR image quality. Additional gotchas: - It has a lot of picture settings that are poorly documented with not necessarily good defaults and can produce a bad quality image. For instance, theres no indication of what Gamma 1 through 4 correspond to. Before gauging the picture quality, reset the Black Stabilizer to 50, double-check against some calibration images, and try the sRGB preset. Fixing this really improved the picture quality. - The monitor can take a 4K (3840x2160) signal and advertises that it can do so over HDMI, even though the panel is only 2560x1440. This can cause Windows to send it a 4K signal even though the resolution is set to 2560x1440, resulting in a blurry image. It can take some fiddling with Windows display and graphics drivers settings to fix this (active signal resolution = 2560x1440 in Settings).

Originally, I purchased the ASUS TUF Gaming 27 (VG279Q1R) monitor. After Amazon failed to send me the correct product twice they sent me the 23.8 monitor (VG249Q1R). I gave up and tried the LG 27GL83A-B and no regrets! The monitor came in a very packaged box, very quick and simple to put together. I was super excited, since this is the first gaming monitor I have bought. Keep in mind, my rig isnt the greatest, but I was stoked to finally use the display port. I first tried this monitor on dying light 2, and to be honest, I was worried. I had constant drops in FPS/Hz. The lag and flickering was so bad, I was starting to get headaches. After messing with the settings I found in the monitor settings: General -> DisplayPort Version. Default was 1.4, but I changed it to 1.2 just to see what would happen, and it works perfectly now. No lag, no loss in Hz. I know I read a bunch of reviews where other customers were having issues with flickering while using the displayport. Im not sure if this is a proper fix, I never researched or looked up anything, I messed with it and it worked, so I left it at that. I just figured my graphics card was out-of-date, so by dumbing down was work around that worked, but hey, I am super happy with this monitor!
