After much research, I ended up buying this monitor graphic design. I watched a ton of videos and read so many reviews. Nothing seemed perfect...as what I really want is my old Apple Cinema 27 cinema display! (Ive been through 2 of those and both didnt work well with my new MacBook pro. The connection wasnt reliable and the screen would blackout. I got rid of both of them and decided I needed to move on.) This monitor was really the only one I could stomach from an aesthetic point of view, but I was worried because I read about some of the color issues in the reviews. I was looking to spend under $500. The Dells are highly rated, but they were more expensive and not as nice looking. Onward to my experience and addressing some of the issues I saw in the reviews: 1) Some reviewers said the stand is flimsy. Its not as great or solid as the mac stand, but its fine and sturdy enough. No issues here. 2) One reviewer mentioned that her display was tilted a bit and she couldnt get it straight. Mine was tilted a bit, but just put a little muscle into it and got it straight no problem. 3) The font on the display was way too large. I found a setting in systems preferences to make it smaller, looks normal and crisp now. 4) A few mentioned that the color is off, they are too bright and saturated, almost neon. I did experience this. In order to fix it, I did as some reviewers recommended and turned off the High Dynamic Range setting in the display preferences. 5) Also, It was confusing when I first plugged in the display. A menu associated with the display (so not controlled by my mac) was asking me to select ok. Without my cursor from the mac, I couldnt do this. That is when I discovered the important power switch and setting switch on the monitor under the LG logo. The controls on this switch are very clunky, but after spending about 15 minutes with it I could see where I can adjust the brightness and some other settings. 6) This monitor comes with speakers, but you cant control the sound from your macbook pro. Since Im using this at home for work, I was frustrated when I wanted to listen to a podcast and the sound came in through the display too loud. There is an adjustment with the settings under the LG logo on the display, but thats a hassle. So I went into system preferences on my Mac and changed the setting back to MacBook Pro Speakers, so now the sound is coming through my MacBook and I can easily adjust the sound. So if you are like me and using this for work/design, you might as well save some money and get the version without speakers. So the bottom line is it took about an hour to fiddle with settings until I got a good-looking image that matches my MacBook Pro. I just got the monitor today, so Ill add to this review if I come across any issues. (I dont add to this it means that I like the monitor and its working fine for my needs as a graphic designer.)

Picture quality is good. I tried contacting amazon for an issue regarding speakers but they didn’t help me. The speakers doesn’t work with macbook.

Easy - connect your PC with display port, use one of the HDMI inputs for your 4k Roku stick, do some PC tasks, then take a break and watch a movie on Netflix or Amazon. **Nice bright picture with HDR. You can adjust picture mode individually in display port, and HDMI, etc. I have it set for HDR effect for both DP and HDMI. **Having an IPS panel means super rich, and vibrant colors. **Also, 350 nits of brightness is plenty bright for HDR! Note: This LG 27UN850-W 27 Inch Ultrafine UHD Monitor also has a USB C-port that can charge your laptop or cell phone. Allows you to display whats on your cell, or laptop directly on the monitor just by plugging into the USB C-port, while also charging the connected device. ***I have NOT used the USB C-port yet, as I purchased this monitor mainly for connecting my Dell desktop PC using the Display Port, and for using my 4K Roku stick (HDMI port) for watching NETFLIX and AMAZON Prime movies. To find out more about this monitors USB C-port (a great feature that other monitors DO NOT have), watch some YouTube reviews.

Im not going to write a long review, but Im a programmer and this monitor is the perfect size for my desk and the resolution gives me just the right amount of real estate. Im sure its good for gaming to, but I have tried that at all. One thing that really impressed me is that I plugged the included USB-C cable into my laptop (very new Lenovo) and it powers the laptop and does video. My whole setup has just one power plug now, which is amazing! My laptop charger now stays in its bag.

First, when connected to my MacBook Pro 16, this is an awesome monitor. Setup was easy, and it gracefully handles being plugged in, and unplugged. The speakers on the back are even useful. Now for the bad. Theres no easy way to adjust the sound when the app doesnt present a volume slider. When using with Linux, it sort of works, but there are no settings that can place the monitor in some kind of comparability mode, so I get half a screen what is basically unusable. This means that in my dual setup, If I want to do development on Linux, I need to use another monitor.

I have had this monitor for 2 years, love it for using a laptop and working on a larger screen. The USB-C to USB-C cable needs replacing, sometimes it works and powers the computer and sometimes it does not power? It connects to the monitor for a picture but not power? I cannot find the appropriate cable to replace? If I plug in a USBC- to USB-C it does not connect to a picture?

This is by far my favorite monitor for my Macbook Air M1 2020. I love the colors right out of the box. I actually enjoy looking at this monitor more than looking at the screen on my Mac. The letters are so sharp and the colors vibrant. For the price, you are getting a high-quality monitor that makes the perfect friend for your Mac. I use Illustrator and Photoshop a lot and this monitor makes me stay focused on designing and be more creative. I highly recommend it.

Great monitor for my M1 MacBook Air. My only (slight) issue is how the internal usb hub works. The ports on the back of the monitor only provide usb2 speeds when using a usb-c cable to connect to the monitor. Not a huge deal if you just plan on plugging in a mouse/keyboard, but external storage is painfully slow. Another problem using external storage on the built in hub, is that when the monitor comes out of standby (but not going into standby), it momentarily disconnects from your laptop. If you had external storage connected to the monitor when it went into sleep mode, it will forcefully eject your storage volume when the display wake up.

I have tried three different 4k monitors and this one is hands down the only usable one (probably the best under $400). Its totally compatible with my M1 Macbook Pro, and give good use experience when plugged in. Picture quality is really nice and I have nothing to complain about it.

For the $$, I cant imagine a better monitor. No hiccups at all. For keyboard brightness controls, you can find a few apps to accomplish that. I wish it had automatic brightness control, but OK. The curved stand base is stylish, but awkward on your desk.

Upgrade to an LG UltraFine IPS 4K screen, delivering ultra HD resolution with supremely accurate colors, even when viewed off-angle. The 27-inch display offers versatility of USB Type C connectivity (60 Watt power delivery) plus the benefits of HDCP 2.2 compatibility, so it will seamlessly display 4K content from a variety of sources. Experience smooth gameplay with AMD FreeSync (used with supported video cards), virtually eliminating screen tearing and stuttering that occur as a result of the difference between a graphics card"s frame rate and monitor"s refresh rate. Dynamic Action Sync reduces input lag and elevates your gameplay, allowing you to respond to your opponents quickly. Keep visibility even in dark scenes—LG"s Black Stabilizer senses dark scenes and helps make it brighter so that you can find the enemies hiding and waiting to attack your player in the dark. *Software download required to enable OnScreen Control.
