Great color and clarity. Connects quickly and easily with my M1 Max Macbook Pro. I knocked off one star because the included USB C cable is pretty short and the monitor doesnt work with anything but the included cables. I tried 2 different USB C cables from Apple and a generic one and neither worked. I called LG and they said they dont make a longer one and that is the only one that works with the monitor. I use 2 of these monitors with my laptop so a longer cable would make it much more convenient to connect the one thats furthest away from the computer.

DCI-P3 98% coverage, brain dead color calibration, 4k, 32in, and the blacks are similar to my va monitors. Checks all the boxes off my list. The refresh rate could be higher but that doesnt matter for my work so this is a 5 stars from me. Nice value from what I can tell.

Update 8/16/2021: one display has developed two vertical lines of dead pixels after less than a week of use. This was a Warehouse returns, so the fault lies more with Amazon than LG. I purchased a pair of these 27UN850-W displays, and they perform as you would expect from a mid-range IPS display, good color accuracy, wide viewing angle, and no dead pixels on either. For productivity work, these are perfect. 60hz refresh rate isnt going to cut it for high-end gaming although Freesync will help there. Color accuracy isnt going to be sufficient for professional design and video editing. Certified for HDR400, but know that this definitely HDR-light, if you HDR is important to you, look elsewhere. Didnt try the monitor stand, but VESA mounting worked as it should. Left, right, and top margins are about 1/4 so for multi-monitor setups you will have about 1/2 boundary between workspaces. For dual monitor work scenario for documents, GIS, code, and the like, flat panels with a wide viewing angle like these are quite good. For me, these were an excellent value from Amazon Warehouse (Used - Acceptable), where these like-new displays that are missing bonus materials cost under $300. At MSRP of $450, these are a fair price.

I purchased this after returning the Samsung M80B as it gave me a headache. This thing had perfect color (for my needs at least) out of the box. Pros: Easy to set up Tons of connections options Stand has the perfect tension for going up and down Picture looks great even if the blacks cannot get as dark as a VA panel Very easy on the eyes Cons: I dont like the control button placement on the bottom. I have a controller that I have to move every time I need to get to it Contrast is not quite as rich as the Samsung VA panel I returned Not a native resolution to my Mac Studio although I dont have the wallet for the 5k version

Currently have a 2017 27 5K iMac and will be replacing it with an M2 Mac Mini or Pro when theyre released so I took advantage of Amazons Prime Day pricing and bought two of these LG 27UN850-W monitors. Since I dont have the Mini yet, I wanted to compare them to my iMac. I connected one at a time and ran screen tests to confirm no dead pixels, etc. Both look to be in perfect shape. My iMac recognized them immediately and they worked right out of the box using the cable included by LG. I only changed two settings, one was to uncheck the High Dynamic Range as it made the images too bright. The other was to scale the resolution which made everything on both monitors almost identical. After changing both settings and working with the LG monitor and my iMac side-by-side I have to say that I am *very* impressed. Of course the LG is 4K, not 5K like the iMac, but the difference is more than acceptable. My office has a window behind me and although I really like the iMacs glossy screen, the LGs mat screen helps with the reflections quite a bit. Im not a professional, but I do work a great deal with photos and videos as well as other graphics. When I move the images from my iMac to the LG and back I can see some differences but not enough to warrant spending $1500 on Apples stand-alone monitor. The LG monitor is simply an excellent value IMHO. Ive only been running the monitors for a few days, but I have to say that I am very impressed. Ive been using iMacs for about 20 years now and I wasnt looking forward to switching to a Mini (or Pro), but I believe these are the monitors that will ease the transition a great deal. Highly recommended so far. Ill be sure and report back if I come across any issues.

    Greater than one week

My negative review is only concerns Mac connectivity. The USB-C connection only powered my two Macbooks but the monitor itself was not detected by MacOS at all.

I just moved from a retina iMac to a Mac Studio and was looking for a monitor that was as good as the retina in the iMac. First off, nothing is as good as the retina iMac screen except the new $1,500 Apple monitor. But, this LG gets you 99% of the way there. It takes a little fiddling to get the resolution right but after working with it a couple of weeks, I cant tell the difference between this monitor and the iMac when writing code - working with text. No idea about games or professional graphics. As far as casual watching YouTube and web browsing its every bit as good as the retina iMacs. I liked it so much, I got a 2nd one to connect to the Mac Studio replacing an older 27 Apple Thunderbolt display. The monitor works great out of the box with the included USB-C cable. I now have 2 connected via the USB-C cables and they are great. Probably the only downside is the built in speaker. Its no where near what the iMacs speakers sound like. To solve that one, I found a Nylavee sound bar and it fits snugly under the monitor. One other issue I have not solved yet and it could be self inflicted is the computer sometimes will not go to sleep from the sleep menu the first try. Another issue is open apps dont always stay on the 2nd monitor when the computer wakes up. This is a known problem when using non Apple displays so it might have to be something to live with until Apple has time to stop making new emojis and fix a few bugs in their software. Now Im back to what I had with the iMac, except now I have 10 cores and blazing speed.

Ive had this monitor maybe two months and am experiencing some issues already. I did a lot of research before choosing this one as I really wanted good screen real estate for my Macbook Pro; excellent picture quality; a monitor that would support charging my laptop while connected. Heres how that worked out: 1. Picture quality is good, a bit bright but good. 2. The charging only works on occasion. Sometimes the monitor charges the laptop, sometimes it doesnt. This is really frustrating to me as my office is tiny and I dont want additional cables. It also connects, for the most part, but I will get the occasional black screen that doesnt detect the laptop. I have to then open the laptop and make sure the monitor realizes its on and close it again. Its annoying at best. 3. I cant control the sound from my laptop. This is wildly annoying. Not sure if Ill return this or if theres better out there, but for the price I paid I would expect it to work a lot more consistently.

Upgrade to an LG UltraFine IPS 4K screen, delivering ultra HD resolution with supremely accurate colors, even when viewed off-angle. The 27-inch display offers versatility of USB Type C connectivity (60 Watt power delivery) plus the benefits of HDCP 2.2 compatibility, so it will seamlessly display 4K content from a variety of sources. Experience smooth gameplay with AMD FreeSync (used with supported video cards), virtually eliminating screen tearing and stuttering that occur as a result of the difference between a graphics card"s frame rate and monitor"s refresh rate. Dynamic Action Sync reduces input lag and elevates your gameplay, allowing you to respond to your opponents quickly. Keep visibility even in dark scenes—LG"s Black Stabilizer senses dark scenes and helps make it brighter so that you can find the enemies hiding and waiting to attack your player in the dark. *Software download required to enable OnScreen Control.
