> 24 hourPaired with a z690 motherboard and Scythe Mugen 5 cooler, the performance is on par with a 12700K (see the picture). On a z690 or b660 motherboard with good VRMs, 12700F can run at high power rating (PL2) continuously. And, a better cooler than the one included, Scythe Mugen 5 for me, keeps the CPU cool to avoid thermal throttling (never exceeds 70C under any load). When paired with a good cooler and motherboard, the performance practically matches 12700K. The latest CPUs are no fun to overclock anymore as they draw too much power and cooling becomes too expensive and noisy for the little performance gain. So, I went with this CPU and completely satisfied.

> 24 hourBuyer beware that the i7 12700F DOES NOT SUPPORT CPU OVERCLOCKING! Only 12700 and 12700K have overclock capabilities. If you try to enable CPU overclocking in BIOS on the 12700f, you’ll find that it’s locked to 2.1 GHz. The more you know…

> 24 hourRunning this in my sons dual boot Mint Linux/Windows 10 desktop. Linux for productivity, windows for gaming. Everything is smooth, though we did disable the e-cores in linux until the kernel fully supports them. Impressive CPU.
