I upgraded from an i7-4770 DDR3 and built a 12700k DDR5 PC and this thing flies. A mild overclock and xmp profile has programs opening instantaneously, and installs are super fast. No real workloads or gaming has been done yet, but I wanted the best, but didnt want to pay 12900k prices, and for gaming the I7 preforms only 1-2% slower according to most reviewers, so I will not be missing that tiny bit of performance.

Intel Core i7-12700K Desktop Processor 12 (8P+4E) Cores up to 5.0 GHz Unlocked LGA1700 is one monster of a chip. I have an 8th Gen I7 that is quick but this one is in a world all by itself.

Definitely be sure to have adequate cooling on this beast - even with a moderate overclock youre quickly drawing a ton of power and making a ton of heat! Great value for money if you need the horsepower for CAD, photo/video work and gaming.

Overall, I believe at the time of this review that the 12700K chip is the best value for the power you can get. My typical price point is about $350-400 and with 12 cores, it is an awesome upgrade from my 3rd Gen Ivy bridge processor. It was simple to install and worked perfectly with no issues.

A very useful CPU, but for gaming, the 12600k may be more cost-effective. But Im glad I got a special price.

The 12700k easily crushes anything I throw at it, was debating between this and the 5800X but this was cheaper at the time and performs better.

Not much I can really say about this other than Intel speaks for itself and I have no complaints. Great for gaming.

I put together a gaming PC collecting parts over time as I had funds to purchase. Finally put it all together and it ran well for about 2 weeks and then I began having blue-screen crashes. Now it wont even complete a windows install on a clean drive without crashing. Tried two mother boards, 6 memory sticks, 3 NVMe drives, and two power supplies before being forced to realize the processor is causing my issue. I am now out of the quick return path grace period and must try to RMA through Amazon. If you buy one of these chips, or any part for that matter, use it right away in case it is a bad part.

Works as expected. Great price-performance from this chip, huge upgrade from my Ryzen 2700x.
