> 3 dayI had been planning to hold off for Raptor Lake, but my Z370 mobo died, and I decided to go ahead and get an Alder Lake i7. So far its impressive. It runs much cooler than my i9-9900k (mild OC) ( 59C-63C under a gaming load vs 75C+) but that couldve been due to the my old AIO being in its death throws for the past few months. 3DMark CPU score went up noticeably as well. Overall, Im pretty happy with it. Havent messed around with overclocking yet, but there doesnt seem to be as much headroom left as there used to be, from what Ive read 5.3 Ghz is about what you can expect. The days of getting another 800Mhz - 1 Ghz+ over stock clocks out of a CPU are gone it seems.

> 3 dayIts been roughly 6-7 years since I last build my gaming computer. Upgrading to this has been more than significant. As of this writing, I hope youve done your research the I7-12700ks price point and its competition. For this price point, it may be the top dog.

> 3 dayI built a gaming desktop PC with this cpu and a Zotac 3080 trinity GPU. I get higher frame rates with this cpu than the zotac 3080 while playing the new call of duty mw2. I get max:200fps with this cpu and max:165 fps with the gpu, while doing the benchmark test, COD has in game. Keep in mind, I am not the most tech savvy, when it comes to computers and over clocking.

> 3 dayIdles in the 20s. Does require a beefy cooler, Im using a Noctua D15S. I did have a U14S on it idling in the low 30s, but the fan was revved up by default to a level I didnt enjoy. Make sure you need this much power. If youre just gaming get a 12400 instead. This processor trades blows with the amd 5900x. Performance and stability are excellent. I have five nvme m.2 drives on it right now (four on motherboard and another in a card). Everything is lightning fast. Be aware the drivers will NOT work with the older versions of Win10, and you will need to make a newer version of Win10 from microsofts own site. Aside from that minor inconvenience, everything works well.
