California Air Tools CAT-4610S Ultra Quiet & Oil-Free 1.0 hp 4.6 gallon Steel Twin Tank Electric Portable Air Compressor, Silver

I was hesitant to purchase this air compressor given the other reviews, but had friends who swore by California Air Tools compressors. They are by far the quietest compressors I have ever used. I decided to purchase this compressor anyways, and it worked very well at first. After 25 days of owning this compressor and only using it a handful of times, the metal pipe that connects the tanks to the inlet and on/of controls completely sheared while installing baseboards with a 16 gauge nail gun. Needless to say I am completely livid and disappointed at the quality of this product. As much as I appreciate the quietness of the compressor, I would never recommend purchasing anything from California Air Tools. Save your money and spend it on a more reliable product.

I was looking for a quiet compressor. I have been using a porter cable pancake unit. When that thing comes on babies cry and ear drums bleed. I was tired of the noise. The entire reason in purchased this unit was it clam to be quiet. I am shocked. Totally shocked. The noise from this is minimal. It is far from ear piercing. I would classify this as quiet. It is not hype and it lives up to its marketing. I also upgraded to the aluminum tanks. I am glad I did. I would imagine the steel tanks would add weight and take my joy of use away. Spend the extra money on aluminum. Overall—I am thrilled with my purchase. Time will tell how it holds up. Very happy.

As advertised. This thing is QUIET! I cant hear it very much when Im far away. It does the the job but I do wish it came with universal valves. I had to swap them out for my own. If you need this for light use at home itll do the job but my use was a bit too much. I constantly found myself waiting for more pressure to build up and the motor was a bit too weak. Maybe I shouldve gotten a bigger/more powerful one. Aluminum body does wonders though

Compressor is very quiet and has enough pressure to run 2 trim guns at the same time or a single framer. The compressor I received has a rattle that comes from the brass regulator tube, this would not be noticeable on most compressors because it would be droned out by the motor. I bought this because I have young children and am doing some remodeling around my house and my full size compressor is much to loud to have running in garage. I originally bought this after hearing a friend of mines and couldnt believe how quite it was. Compressor is not silent but is quite enough to have running inside the house with family sleeping (note:work is still getting done compressor is usually one of the loudest things on job site after saws). Silly to say but I think it calms the feeling of a job site because there is no violent screaming of a compressor in the back ground, radios do not have to be as loud and voices do not have to be raised to talk over it. Aluminum Tanks are awesome to avoid rust from forming inside tanks and spraying out when emptying tanks. Also, is light for how sturdy the machine is. I will never cheap out on a compressor again.

Its a good quiet compressor but extremely heavy and the rubber handle came off the 2nd day and air filter off from vibration but still happy with it.

I first purchased the Bostitch because it came with everything and it was cheap. That thing was loud. This CAT model is quiet compared to the Bostitch. Im glad I made the switch. Now I can get some work done in the garage while the kids are sleeping upstairs.

What a great compressor. Its very quiet and has a small footprint. Not all that heavy either - Im able to lift and move around garage pretty easily.

First impressions are that it exceeds the advertised specs- and more importantly why I bought it. The unit came securely packaged and double boxed. I mention this as a Hitachi that I had gotten from Amazon a number of years back. Amazon being Amazon handled that situation well, but it was a relief having this one pink and perfect. The Porter Cable 6 gallon that this replaced , served me reasonably well. Though the first one on that and its replacement developed leaks within a month. Should this one do the same, I will update my review. I still have the old Hitachi- and it doesnt leak a bit. To start with, the noise from every other small compressor Ive had is simply rude compared to this little gem. Not only does it run quietly, it performs well. The old PC was starting to draw more amps as it aged. This runs off a nice 5500 watt inverter, but when the 8.5 AMP cold start draw eventually turns into 12 and change, it is time to take the stress off. This one currently pulls 7.4 amps all day long. I opted for the aluminum tank as I am one of THOSE who doesnt drain his tanks as often as I should. I dont spray with it , so Ill be doing well to drain this once a week. You know what the other steel tanks looked like when they were drained. Rust. This is actually close in size to the PC as well. It nestles in the same frame as that one. Bonus. Update June 2022 Shes still running as new after much use.

I own a Lemon shake up stand this air compressor is the hart of it . It goes down we are out for the day so far so good. It suit off one time then I released it has got to plug in direct no extinction cords
