Amazingly quiet compressor. Aluminum tanks wont rust and the unit is well built and easy to service. I bought this to replace a Dewalt compressor that was way too hard to service. Every component on this is a accessible and easy to locate. Everything on the Dewalt was inside a plastic cover; actually a series of plastic covers that made finding and servicing take 4 times as long. Great unit and you have to use it to believe how quiet it is. We have regular level conversations when the unit is running in the same room.

Love this compressor. I will never go back to old and noisy compressors. extremely quiet, exceed my expectations if it comes to noise. hose adapters are solid, easy to attach and disengaged the hoses. Only the drain valve stick out of the bottom tank little farther then I will like, but ball valve is a big plus.

I first purchased the Bostitch because it came with everything and it was cheap. That thing was loud. This CAT model is quiet compared to the Bostitch. Im glad I made the switch. Now I can get some work done in the garage while the kids are sleeping upstairs.

I was hesitant to purchase this air compressor given the other reviews, but had friends who swore by California Air Tools compressors. They are by far the quietest compressors I have ever used. I decided to purchase this compressor anyways, and it worked very well at first. After 25 days of owning this compressor and only using it a handful of times, the metal pipe that connects the tanks to the inlet and on/of controls completely sheared while installing baseboards with a 16 gauge nail gun. Needless to say I am completely livid and disappointed at the quality of this product. As much as I appreciate the quietness of the compressor, I would never recommend purchasing anything from California Air Tools. Save your money and spend it on a more reliable product.

this is my second C.A.T. Compressor. they are the brand that I prefer due to their dependability and performance to noise ratio. it is worth spending the extra money on a quality tool if you use it day in day out and rely on it to put food on the table. After working with one of these, the louder compressors will just become irritating to you with the noise level they run at. the California air tools can be ran inside your clients house with no complaints of noise, conversating next to the tool while its running is not an issue. recommended for carpenters and professionals as well as DIYers. 5 stars.

I am a home user and previously had a pancake compressor. I was embarrassed when I worked in my garage using the compressor because it was so noisy. I got my 4610AC yesterday and used it on a project today. I would hear it come on but then, it was so quiet, I would not notice when it stopped running. I like the push to connect quick connect fittings. I thought that I would have to change the connectors that came with the unit to push to connect and they were already there. The unit exudes quality.

For comparison, its about as quiet as an old fridge or a window AC unit. You can easily talk over it at a normal volume while its running. Its bigger and heavier for the same tank size than the Porter Cable pancake its replacing but that thing was so loud the tank would literally ring. Its definitely worth the money if you do a lot of work after the kids go to bed!

Super quiet, but thats why I bought it. Well packaged, it survived intact as I watched the UPS man roll it out the door of the truck (yes, he rolled the square box up the aisle and was end-over-ending it down the stairs when I told him to stop and I would take it from there). At roughly 45lbs, its not heavy, but still not light; however, definitely light enough to carry out of a truck. Would be nice to see an aluminum frame for even more weight savings. The on/off switch is not readable unless you have a clear angle as its black on black. I simply wrote on/off with a white marker to make identification quicker, especially in low light. Because of the small capacity it took some time to fine adjust the regulator to (110psi max) without going below. Once I found it, I marked the spot as a reference. I was easily able to adjust the low limit switch to 95psi (factory appeared to be ~85psi) to ensure my nailer didnt fall below minimum. Finally I dont get interrupted by the compressor, and the baby can still sleep when I work inside. For reference, I replaced a bostich pancake with this unit. I swear the bostich was louder than my 5hp shop compressor. This compressor is being used for nail guns only. You could fill tires and do the occasional blast of air, but capacity is lacking for any flowing air application.

I prefer this to my older Porter Cable compressor but I dont like being taken for a ride. This is made in China. It is quieter than my Porter Cable but is far from Ultra Quiet. Durability still unknown. Instructions fair to poor; they tell you for instance to release pressure using the safety release valve but nowhere in the instruction manual does it say where or what the safety release valve is. It is lighter than my older steel compressor, which is a big help. I bought this and a Hitachi brad nailer together. They work well together, but the Hitachi nailer has superb instructions, whereas compressor has poor instructions. It matters.
