Great little compressor. This is perfect for my application. It’s a permanent fixture in my go kart race trailer. It’s super quiet and supplies all the air I need at the track to keep up with three karts. The generator (3500 watt Champion), doesn’t even sure when it kicks in. Easy to set up. I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Pros: This is one nice little compressor that is great for home use. I love that it is super quiet--I can run it in the house and not have to wear ear protection; it is lightweight--I opted for the aluminum model--I can pick it up easily (but it also has wheels to transport); it fills up fast; is easy to drain when done using it; very reasonably priced compared to other like models; and quick and friendly response from California Air Tools when I called with a question about what size hose to get. The compressor comes with a 1/4 quick connect connector. By the way, it takes a 1/4 hose and you need to get connectors for the two ends of the hose. My husband got a quick connect connector for the end the tools connect to. Northern Tool had the best prices on the hoses--$17 for 25 foot 1/4 inch. If youre a veteran you get an extra 10% off. And we got the connectors at Lowes, again you get a 10% discount if you are a veteran. Cons: Amazon promised it in one day, it took two; the handle is short so you kind of have to bend over to pull it to where you want to go. The pros far outweigh the cons. My husband even likes it!

I can be on the phone next to this thing and you hardly even know its running. I would definitely spring for the aluminum one because its so light! makes moving it from workplace to workplace a breeze.

Works well for filling tires and blowing away air. Dont expect to run any air tools with this. The tank is much too small.

Replaced my pancake compressor. That thing was so loud. Unpacked it in the living room and turned it on. Wife was asleep in the room above. It never woke her up, I give it two thumbs up.

Don’t believe any reviews to the contrary, this is as quiet, or quieter, than advertised. I needed something I could run in the house without damaging my children’s hearing and this fits the bill. It’s orders of magnitude quieter than the 6 gallon porter cable I used to use. The only down sides are the aluminum tank, while lighter than the steel porter cable, is not as light as hoped. Also, the handle for pulling it on the wheels is to short to be almost useless for someone who is 5’10” tall. Also, they say it’s made in San Diego California, but the box says made in China. Not good.

California Air Tools have addressed all of the issues other brands seem to have struggled with. This one isnt the fastest to compress air but I would happily trade that feature for the impressive low sound level. Building the tank in Aluminum results in a compressor about ten pounds lighter than the steel tank model and a lightweight steel handle furthers this goal. All welds are good, other parts high quality. Like it very much except: there is a very slow leak where the compressed air enters the tank so this unit will empty its air overnight, not a large problem. Email to California customer service brought a message from them about this fitting is installed with red loctight rendering it un removable for further sealing without application of heat. I have decided to live with the small leak because further communication with California Air tools stalled, hence only 4 stars. Get one, youll love it.

in all my years, ive never known a small shop compressor to be this quite. i turned it on for the first time and was convinced it was broken. the wife came out to the shop, seeing my quizzical look and offered to start the amazom return process. i give it a few minutes to complete the initial fill, confirmed the gauge readings and then tested a few tools. works as any compressor should work. took an outside paint-sprayer pressure gauge to compare/confirm the attached compressors gauge - off my 3 psi (line loss maybe). again, the compressor works as stated the amazing quality of this compressor is that you can use it with blowing out an ear drum during initial fill and subsequent refills under usage. always use hearing protection while operating the end tool - no need to be that guy. as long as it holds up over the years, it will be an excellent choice. not to mention, in the dozen times ive drained it after use, no rust in the d/c moisture. in FL thats rare. the AL tank is great.

I have 2 smaller California Air units and was very happy with their performance. And extra happy with their quiet operation which was a priority. For this location I need more air capacity and went with the 8010A unit. Just as quiet. Also happy that I went with the aluminum version. The first time I used it was with my impact tool to take off some stuborn lug nuts. It is not Factory Air but good for what I am doing. I love California Air. I have always changed out the Quick Disconnect on the regulator. I just pefer a different version. Be careful not to overtighten any new nipples at the regulator. it is plastic and it will split.
