Nice monitor for a DIT, photographer, or editor. With an older macbook pro this will go to its listed max resolution, and color spaces. You can also custom color to match your calibrated screen if you operate in mirror mode like I do. Allow you to be vesa mounted and it seem to be built robustly. I like it a lot and for 229, seems like a good deal. Only minor issue is only one hdmi impute but you do have dvi and some others which escape me at the moment.

Very nice for the price. I recommend it for graphic artists. Even though it lacks the option to calibrate, it is within expectations of printers, labs and sRGB.

HDMI socket was defective on my unit, which was a deal breaker. Otherwise the panel quality was extremely good. Even though the panel had 3 dead pixels, the very high pixel density meant these were barely noticeable. No problems with the color gradient or contrast. Super nice monitor overall. My unit having a defective HDMI socket was probably just a manufacturing outlier.

I purchased this monitor after purchasing then returning an ASUS Proart 329c. That monitor came in with a broken USB-C port and dead pixels. The customer service is what led me to return the monitor. This monitor came in and the only defect is the AUX port. Anything plugged -in creates popping in the speakers. I just connect that to my MacBook. Other than that, the monitor is amazing. No dead pixels and a better value. In my experience, for less money you get more features and better quality, and that’s just including the hardware. The monitor wakes up faster and the rotation feels smooth. All in all, I’ve never tried BenQ products before but I am much happier and Will never try ASUS ever again.

Pros: No pixel problems - always a concern on any new monitor Has some interesting eye relief features - Mostly Ive disabled them at the moment but they are there for use Overall seems like a pretty reasonable 1440 monitor for the price - it is a value priced but probably comparable to most monitors in the mid price range. Stand is nicer than the most critical reviews here. They were far to harsh on it. I have had super $$ monitors that performed worse - just sayin Cons: The eye relief sensor even set to FAR doesnt see me when I lean back in my chair while watching a streaming video like a long Youtube or Philo etc.. Touch sensitive buttons on the front can be a bit fiddley. If they dont wear out like mechanical then I suppose its worth it. They just seem to lack the response a mechanical button has when scrolling through menus. Can be a bit annoying but not at all a show stopper.

The BenQ display I received has weird pixel grid problem all over the screen, especially noticeable on the different shades of the gray. Looks like every 2 horizontal pixel lines of the display comes in pairs one is darker another is lighter. It maybe hard to notice, but easy to notice for me as I currently have another display that is free from this defect U3219Q. Deffect is visible on the photos, I have Night Shift options enabled, but those lines present when it is disabled as well. Tried all of the settings on the BenQ - no luck, switched display refresh rate to lower - the same. BenQ Display is connected with Display Port Cable. Dont want to waste my time with it. Kind of disappointed, returning.

The PD3220U is ideal for digital work, as BenQ is notably silent on its Adobe RGB performance but boasts its P3 performance. Its also an improved monitor over the PD3200U. It may lack variable refresh rates making it not gaming-focused. Outside that particular omission, it has just about everything else youd want: puck adjuster for controls, USB3.1c, KVM switch, multiple inputs, ability to hot-swap color profiles, and even display profiles two at once. Its relatively performant, besting the other displays at this size. The best comparison of the displays I tried was a Dell U3219Q when I purchased it was $850, but now it is roughly half the price. In pretty much every measurable way, the BenQ is a better display (sans perhaps cost-to-performance). It works great my MacBook Pro and Mac Pro (although under 10.13.6 with an NVidia GPU, it was registering as a 6k display, whereas my AMD Vega 56 reported it correctly). The only real complaints are the viewing angle could be a hair wider, but at the size, this is always going to be the cause. Color shift is pretty minimal. The finish can be mildly glare reflective in direct sunlight as its not a full matte. Theres the smallest of edge shadow due to the ultra-thin bezel at the bottom edge, least pronounced of the four 32 inch 4k displays Ive tried. The black uniformity is the best Ive ever seen in a 32-inch display, which is just flatly ok. When the monitor is totally dark, you can see a bit of unevenness. Also, there are no backlighting zones. It gets dark; its not like my aging plasma screens ability to produce deep blacks. As a daily driver, though, this is an excellent display and better than most. The wide gamut is especially felt when working with Adobe RGB profiled images and RAW photos. The P3 covers Rec BT 709 (very similar to sRGB) but lacks in the greens compared to Rec BT2020, which is well beyond any current displays sans very expensive high-end color grading displays. Embracing P3 as the wide gamut standard, which covers roughly 45% of the colors the human eye can see (its nowhere near Rec BT2020 covers 75%), is a good move as it is similar to Adobe RGB in colors covered. Basically, downloading test 10bit vs. 8bit footage is notable as gradient banding pretty much nonexistent whereas 8 bit footage you can see the banding. I dont live or die by color accuracy, but it is nice when doing UI work. Theres also a few eye-strain technologies tossed in, do they work? Unsure doesnt seem to affect my eyes. Also, the charging isnt quite enough for the 15 inch MacBook. Lastly, the UI for a display is well above average. There are two quick profile color swaps, and brightness is super easy to adjust. Pros: True 10 bit, not FRC. Wide color gamut and covers 96% of P3 Easy to use UI and fast Multicolor profiles come included Didnt need to set up any color adjustments Despite the wide amount of features, sanely implemented Very low color shift. Fantastic pre-calibration. USB 3.1c More inputs than Ill ever need. Colorwise matches my MacBook 2017 The so-so: Matte isnt totally light sheeting. Viewing angles are pretty good but shy of smaller displays. Wattage is a bit low for 15 inch MacBooks running CPU intensive tasks, meaning still probably gotta use a power cable. GeForce 1060 thought the display was 6k under MacOS 10.13.6. No FRC, but MacOS doesnt support it. Slim bevels. Stand works nicely, no buttons or levels. Bad: Backlighting could be more uniform Blacks look really good but still not as dark as my old plasma TV Somewhat pricey Internal speakers arent any better than a Macbooks. Why bother? Wishlist: I wish this was 5k or 6k; the size is fantastic. 60+ Hz would be nice. Zoned backlighting for larger light/dark /edit update: Well covid hit and now this my main work display, and because of its input switching and ability to charge my laptop, has become even more valuable. I have a Thunderbolt 3 dock but this effectively eliminates the need. One cable connects me to my speakers, two displays and speakers, which are shared with my 2010 Mac Pro.

I LOVE this monitor!! I got it for work (graphic design) and the colors are brilliant the crispness makes every other monitor in my house look like butt cheeks even my MSI gaming monitor (that was twice the price) isnt as crisp and vibrant as this baby. It does only hit 60hz but I love playing games on it anyways because they look sooo good. When it comes to work - I can see color imperfections that you just cant see on other monitors - so it has improved the quality of my projects.

Just got this monitor, so I may update this later with more details, but heres my unboxing and initial set-up impressions: The monitor stand is a design disaster. It uses a tab/slot twist-lock to attach the stand to the base. It also has a pivoting base feature. The problem, you might surmise, comes when you go to pivot the monitor, youre never quite sure if the monitor is actually pivoting or if youre unlocking the base, as they are essentially the same mechanism. Ive dumped my monitor on my table twice so far (thankfully no apparent damage), and basically now just dont pivot it at all by the stand, and simply adjust the base. Theres also the uncertainty in that youll never know if youve completely locked the stand to the base since the pivot feature allows for a lot of play. The base itself is a weirdly textured, sloped plastic that invites you to place things on it (reading glasses, phones, etc.) but then disappoints by having anything placed on it simply slipping off eventually, thanks to the slope. Honestly, just get a VESA mount, the stand is trash. The color looks good, the viewing angle is incredibly wide, as is typical of an IPS monitor. No noticeable bad pixels, overall backlight illumination looks good - fairly even without any real bleed issues. Dark blacks, bright whites. It has tons of connectivity, supporting analog D-Sub VGA, DVI, DP, and HDMI - this will work with old systems as well as the brand new ones. Its a bit expensive for what you get - a medium-sized 2k monitor - but if you need that form factor, it does the job.
