headphone is really nice for calm music, for alternative rock too, but NO BASS, if you love electronic/house/edm DONT BUY, anyway its very comfortable but i write 3 star because no bass

Actual over-the-ear headphones under $100, whats not to like?

These headphones are pretty close to studio level. Im happy with them a little heavy on the bass not to bad. Vocals are real crisp and clear. They arent bassy like the Dre beats. The leak sound a little more then I like and the isolation well its not super isolated there ok. After about 3 hrs or 4 hrs they get super uncomfortable, but I have big ears so. Over all I am pretty happy with them but dont expect the best.

Nice sounding, neutral headphones. Decent bass response, as well. I like the sound just fine, but cant get beyond the discomfort of wearing them. There is something just wrong with the design of the headband (note that its little brother the 30X, which I also own, does not have the same problem). It sits hard on top of my head, in a single small spot. Every other set of headphones Ive had (and that is currently in the house) sit around my head (i.e., all the weight isnt in a single, small spot on top of my head). This wouldnt be a deal-breaker if there was enough padding in the headband, but there is very little padding, so unfortunately, I have to send them back. The ear pads are okay, but become warm and a bit uncomfortable after a while, but even this wouldnt be enough to send them back.

Cons: Base Quality is poor, All plastic items, you can feel good only when you play premium contents only

Coming from only using the earbuds that came with my phone or my 4 year old $20 Sony headphones I got at Best Buy, these are my first pair of expensive headphones. I did a lot of research beforehand and found a wide consensus raving about the quality and bang for your buck value of any Audio Technicas. I bought these because the M50x were too much and the difference between the M40X and M30X in sound quality was there whereas the difference between the M40X and M50X was not as big so settled for the M40X. Im still blown away by these. I hearing symbols crash in music Ive never heard before, and audio in other recording, whether people talking or noises of other kind, are crisp and clear. These are great.

I got this to replace my Turtle Beach Stealth 520 and I’m glad I did. My friends and I play shooter and BR games where hearing enemy footsteps, opened doors, and vehicles is important. I either couldn’t hear those well enough or the direction was slightly off with the 520s. That is definitely not the case with these! I can hear faint noises very clearly, footsteps are so much louder and it’s easier to tell where they’re coming from. If you’re willing to use a standalone mic or get an adapter to add a mic, I recommend these 100% for shooters. They’re probably also very immersive for horror games.
