My first review ever. Unfortunately, its for somewhat of a selfish reason as I have a complaint but hear me out first. I would like to point out that this monitor is great. AMAZING refresh rate...has to be seen to be believed. If you are upgrading from a 60Hz monitor you will forever be changed after using this thing. I cannot emphasize this enough. Be aware that you will need a quality rig to take full advantage of this monitor. At 144Hz, you need a graphics card which can push at least 144FPS. Many gamers will find this difficult to achieve at High or Ultra settings (especially with some of todays AAA games). It is truly intended for gamers or more specifically, FPS games such as CSGO (which is exactly why I bought it for my son). If you are looking to do graphics or light gaming, I would consider an IPS panel as they tend to have more accurate color reproduction. This is not your average monitor and will require a quick Google search to get it to look just right but it can be done as others have stated (look up calibration and ICC profile). Now for my complaint. The problem came just yesterday when my son received an NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 kit for Christmas. This monitor has built-in support for 3D which means it can display both games and Blu-Rays in 3D. When playing anything in 3D there is a blue vertical bar about 5 or maybe 8 pixels wide going right down the middle of the screen. This occurs in both games and movies in 3D. It can be hard to tell at times depending on the color of what is on-screen but it is there. For whatever reason, it ONLY occurs during 3D. When going back to 2D, the blue bar goes away. This cannot be by design and in my estimation is a problem with the monitor itself. I feel I should give the monitor a 1-star rating to bring attention to this issue but it is just too good of a monitor in 2D and I think we may have just gotten a bad one. My main issue here is that this problem was not discovered until AFTER Amazons return policy had expired because we never tested 3D until yesterday. Not sure what to do. For those interested, my sons computer specs are as follows: Intel i5 4670 CPU, MSI GTX 970 Twin Frozr, MSI Z87-G45 Gaming Mainboard, 8GB GSkill RAM, 240GB Seagate SSD, 1TB WD Black, Corsair 750W PSU, Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO, LG Blu-Ray 3D drive, Razer DeathAdder Mouse, Razer BlackWidow Ultimate 2014 Stealth Mechanical Keyboard, Logitech Wireless G930, Windows 8.1, CyberLink PowerDVD 14 Ultra, NVIDIA 3D Vision 2 Kit Btw, my son pwns all at CSGO.

This is my 3rd ASUS monitor. The first two were purchased years ago for a dual screen setup. This was my first experience with a 144hz monitor (the previous monitors were only 60hz) and all I can say is What a difference! Games were fantastic with my GPU set to 144hz refresh rate. Fast scrolling through webpages looks like Im literally moving a long piece of paper. The page isnt choppy at all. I wish I would have had the funds to go 1 step further and get the 4k monitor from ASUS. The stand is great. Easy height adjustment with just slight pressure up or down. Plenty of tilt and rotation as well as being able to rotate the monitor vertically 90 degress which would be great for coding. It seems quite stable as monitors go as well.If you get any wobble from typing/gaming its probably due to the quality of the desk it sits on and not the stand. Mine doesnt move even a little on my desk. If it matters, the buttons are on the bottom (my previous ASUS monitors were this way as well). The big difference with these buttons is that the power button is more protruded than the others (both the buttons on this monitor and the buttons previously used by ASUS) and it lights up which combined makes it easy to locate by both feel and sight. Switching between view settings is easy. It comes with pre-set views optimized for different uses. Or you can customize it to whatever you would like. If you dont have your heart set on 4k or the AMD/Nvidia plugins, you will not go wrong with this monitor. Its a great buy and I highly recommend ASUS monitors for their price/performance.

Well... To start off, heres what came in my box (as of July 8, 2017) 1x DVI Dual Link Cable (DONT USE THIS GARBAGE CABLE THAT COMES WITH THE MONITOR!! More info down below) 1x ASUS VG248QE Monitor 1x ASUS VG248QE Monitor Drivers CD (Im not exactly sure what this is, but its in the box! lol) 1x Audio Cable 1x Power Cable 1x Manual Actual monitor review: I have owned this monitor for exactly a month! Its definitely the cheapest 144Hz monitor that you will find at this price range (as of this review it is fluctuating around $250). If you are coming from a 60Hz monitor then you will definitely be able to see the difference. (Its life changing! No more strain on the eyes!) The way the monitor is built is also outstanding. You can turn it in all directions possible! The vertical height of this monitor is astounding, and turning it horizontally is a breeze with the lazy susan type of thing it sits on. I really only have two issues with this monitor, and both of the issues can easily be resolved. My first issue would be that the ENTIRE monitor is a glossy finish which results in a lot of fingerprints and visible dust collection, but that isnt a issue with the monitor, more on personal preference. My other issue is that when you first get this monitor plugged in and ready to go and turn it on, your eyes will bleed. The colors that this monitor is preset to is awful. The presets that they have in the menu option are also awful. It hurt my eyes when I first turned it on and configuring it to get it to a usable color saturation was difficult as this monitor really favors yellow hues (at least in my opinion). But the color issue I fixed within the first hour of owning it so no biggie! Some tips and tricks if you have issues with your monitor (Such as a flickering red pixel problem like me): I suggest that when you receive your monitor to go and check for dead pixels (just type in dead pixel test in Google). I did this when I first got it and it was clear for dead pixels, yay! My reason for 4 stars though is because exactly after a month (the time you get to refund an item no questions asked on Amazon) I got flickering red pixels on my screen when I watched videos or played games!! Yikes!! That freaked me out! I thought I was out $250, lol. Google is my best friend though and I passionately looked and hoped for a fix to flickering red pixels. Most of the solutions were to check my GPU. Everything was already updated though and at this point I was pretty sad. Then I saw a solution which was try switching out the DVI Cable. I thought this was so stupid but at the same time so brilliant! (Or maybe I thought it was stupid because I didnt even think of doing that at first...hehe) I used the cable that came with the box originally. I just went out to my local electronics store and picked up a DVI dual link cable and BOOM! No more flickering red pixels!!! So I would definitely say DO NOT use the cable that comes with the box. It will give you a very big headache and a sense of impending doom... I hope this review helped!

    Greater than one week

Ok first of all I only got this monitor because it had a 120+ refresh rate and was affordable after the first fact. It definitely has a refresh rate of 120+ but the problem is, if your processor and graphics card do not support higher resolutions and higher refresh rate, then this monitor wont matter. BE SURE YOU CHANGE THE SETTINGS TO 144 refresh rate in Monitor settings. If you dont, it wont do it automatically. So once you buy it and it doesnt go higher than 60 its set to do less. So next if your computer does support higher refresh rate processor and graphics card then it should be fine but if you are like me who wants to SEE this refresh rate and never EVER want to SEE any lag? Then I would suggest buying this as a backup plan. Buy a monitor like a BenQ or something if you dont want to be slightly -even a hairs difference- disapointed. This monitor supports high refresh rate but I still see lag every other few seconds on games like Sims and Guild Wars 2. But my First Person Shooters are golden on this monitor its just games that have sudden bursts of activity like World versus world on guild wars that I see slight bouts of lag. This is NOT completely a monitor issue, it may also be the processor moving slowly because I stopped overclocking for a slight moment to reduce energy. You never know. But this monitor is absolutely awesome in a nutshell. You can adjust it any time you wish, and people think this is a problem to keep adjusting. I love it. Sometimes Im leaning and sometimes I sit straight. My monitor adjusts to my fit from left to right high and low. Lastly, the best part about this monitor is the refresh rate, and if you are a hard-core gamer its a great start. If you have the money then go all out, if not then this monitor is way better than you will ever find for the specs and low price.

ASUS VG248QE 24 Full HD 1920x1080 144Hz 1ms... What do we all want to know about the ASUS VG248QE 144HZ monitor. For a while i was curious and started my research about monitors and the refresh rate and what the benefits were and how much it would affect my budget along with do i have a decent graphics card and how that would affect my gaming experience and myself coming from a ips monitor was it going to be worth it and could i take the leap for a 144HZ monitor and like i have read beforeand let me tell you,if you are ready for a TN monitor at 144HZ look no further this ASUS VG248QE 24 is absolutely beautiful, and i mean you could be watching one of your music videos and kinda get the feeling that you could just reach into the monitor or put your hand right under the front of the this monitor and scoop whatever you want and grab it right out into the palm of your hand/s,and this is no joke.I really dont see how some people complain about the color because after a couple of days i found my settings and not the settings you will see posted here on some other reviews to work for this monitor. So if you are truly ready for a TN monitor with over 60HZ look no further because i spent over a year reading post after post, site after site and i will never go back to a IPS monitor again hands down.So anyone reading this post congratulations and kudos for taking the leap of pixels.

I was doing this A TON of reviewing before buying a monitor and finally deciding on this one. To address some other reviews with the bad image quality right out of the box or dead pixels...I don’t have any of that. I think this thing looks perfect right out of the box! I do see I’ll be changing settings depending on the game I’m playing. I do see what some reviewers describe as a glossy or smudged screen look? I guess if you have a window shining on it you’ll notice it more. I honestly don’t have a problem with it unless you really look for it and stare at it. So it’s not as bad as others claim! Games look great on it, G sync compatibility is awesome and the best part it comes with two cables hdmi and display port! Honestly if you were like me Deciding between this and any other monitor, get this!! It’s honestly a bigger screen than most of the other monitors in the 24” series and despite what people say it’s perfect right out of the box!

Im so glad my friend talked me into buying a high quality monitor for gaming. I never considered a monitor to really make much of a difference in display quality but I cant describe the difference between this and a budget monitor. The 144Hz is what I originally bought it for but the deep contrast and colors this thing offers is amazing. Unfortunately that isnt apparent without some work. The display settings out of the box are atrocious. I spent a good deal of time tweaking the settings and got to a point that I thought was acceptable, and let me tell you, ASUS couldnt make the menu navigation more unintuative if they tried. I was beginning to regret my investment a little for a while. If the colors werent bleeding, they were washed out. I had a hard time getting a good value range. The blacks just werent black enough. The whites were dull. Finally I found the settings that worked for me (almost as much as I worked for it) and I couldnt be happier. I am wowed every time I open a game. For those of you who have bought this and are struggling to find the right settings, what finally ended up working for me was just the default scenery mode setting with the sharpness set to 50. If colors seem too saturated just live with it a while and see if you change your mind. I was too used to cheap monitors to appreciate the color range at first. If youre not sure that you have the right settings try holding a magazine or textbook photo next to your monitor in a well lit room. Also try asking yourself these questions: Do you have a good value range? You want your blacks truly black and your whites nice and bright. You shouldnt be able to describe either one as gray. Is your color contrast good? Can you clearly see subtle differences in similar colors? Do textures stand out properly? Are your colors washed out? This monitor can get super bright but dont let that trick you into thinking whitened colors are okay. The colors can get deep and vibrant as well. Do your colors bleed? This most obvious around text. Dark colored text should not have a whitened border around it. Similarly, bright text should appear to be a single distinguishable color. Otherwise your sharpness is likely too high. This is also possible if you notice extra pixels around text. In the end Im incredibly satisfied with this monitor. Its just a shame I had to do so much experimentation to bring out its potential.
