This is my 3rd ASUS monitor. The first two were purchased years ago for a dual screen setup. This was my first experience with a 144hz monitor (the previous monitors were only 60hz) and all I can say is What a difference! Games were fantastic with my GPU set to 144hz refresh rate. Fast scrolling through webpages looks like Im literally moving a long piece of paper. The page isnt choppy at all. I wish I would have had the funds to go 1 step further and get the 4k monitor from ASUS. The stand is great. Easy height adjustment with just slight pressure up or down. Plenty of tilt and rotation as well as being able to rotate the monitor vertically 90 degress which would be great for coding. It seems quite stable as monitors go as well.If you get any wobble from typing/gaming its probably due to the quality of the desk it sits on and not the stand. Mine doesnt move even a little on my desk. If it matters, the buttons are on the bottom (my previous ASUS monitors were this way as well). The big difference with these buttons is that the power button is more protruded than the others (both the buttons on this monitor and the buttons previously used by ASUS) and it lights up which combined makes it easy to locate by both feel and sight. Switching between view settings is easy. It comes with pre-set views optimized for different uses. Or you can customize it to whatever you would like. If you dont have your heart set on 4k or the AMD/Nvidia plugins, you will not go wrong with this monitor. Its a great buy and I highly recommend ASUS monitors for their price/performance.

Game Monitor If you get it for the normal price. This monitor is excellent. Pros: 3 year Warranty 144hz + Tracefree Technology Adjustable Stand 144hz capable with DVI-D or Display Cable. Monitor Digital Vibrance (Saturation) Excellent clarity Cons: Colors when using 144hz. Theres no nice way to say, the colors suck by default. You can tweak it but it will take sometime to find exactly what you like. The nice thing though is depending on the profile you select, you can up digital vibrance on the monitor it self. It makes console games look amazing. PS4, Wii U, and Xb1 looks great, But remember, Consoles only use 60hz or lower depending on the game. If you google this monitor you will find a reddit with a bunch of different colors and profiles to try. Motion Sickness: I found this monitor was making me slightly motion sick. Im not use to see 144 FPS in pc games so it was messing with me a little. I expect this will go away shortly as it was slowly getting better over time while using it last night. Final Thoughts: Personally, I love this monitor. I bought it mainly for the 144hz for CS:GO and some other games on PC. The colors arent nearly as close to my 27 LED Viewsonic monitor but I knew that going into it. The monitor is great for competative gaming and for console gaming as well. Even though its only 24, if your playing a game at a desk like I am, it works perfect. If your looking for a monitor to do graphic design or you care a lot about colors, get an IPS screen. This is a TN panel after all. its meant for gaming, and thats pretty much it. Ive used BenQ monitors in the past and they are very nice, but honestly, this monitor is just as good if not better for some. BenQ is like the Apple brand of monitors. Its a big name and everyone loves them but they are also elistest with it as well. Go for whats cheaper and you will not be sorry.

I scored this monitor on sale for $219.99 and WOW, what a great deal! If youre in the market for an affordable entry into the gaming monitor market, this is your ticket. Out of the box, the monitor leaves a little something to be desired, but with a little bit of my time, I was able to realize the full potential of this display by loading the monitors driver (from the included CD), an ICC color profile, and adjusting a few of the OSD settings. Just Google VG248QE Calibration for full details on how to do this. (NOTE: Its absolutely CRUCIAL that you check the Use Windows Display Calibration box in advanced settings when adding the ICC profile. This is what made the night-and-day difference for me): PROS: -144hz Refresh Rate (must use the provided Dual Link DVI cable and enable in Windows/your OS of choice) - Say goodbye to screen tearing in your games. Youll be able to see the difference immediately, right from your desktop. Window animations and transitions and scrolling through web pages is a silky smooth experience. Games look fantastic with zero screen tearing. -1ms Response Time - Its hard to find monitors with 1ms or the 144hz in this price range. I did not see any noticeable ghosting while playing games. -Highly adjustable base/stand - The stand on this thing is sturdy and allows you to adjust the height, tilt, and even rotate the display to portrait mode if thats your thing. The base also has a wheel type mechanism allowing you to easily swivel the monitor without scratching your desk. Theres a cable management tab on the back to help keep the ugly cables out of the way, and putting it together was simple with the thoughtful toolless screw on the base. -No dead pixels or noticeable light bleed - My unit did not have any dead pixels or noticeable light bleed. I always get some anxiety when buying a new monitor from this point alone, so it was nice to not have these issues. -3 Year ASUS Warranty - Havent had to take advantage of this yet, but its reassuring to know that ASUS stands behind their products Nice Bonus Features: -Nvidia 3D support - If you buy the glasses youll be able to use this feature in 3D supported games (3D movies do NOT work from what I understand). Havent been able to try it out myself, but may give it a go at some point. -Nvidia LightBoost - With a little time and extra software ([...]) you can trick this monitor into using the strobe effect used by Nvidia LightBoost (otherwise only used with the 3D feature out of the box) to give your monitor a CRT-like quality and completely eliminate any motion blur. Havent tried this myself yet, but sounds like an interesting feature to have for anyone into competitive multiplayer gaming or even just firing up some old emulated games. CONS: -TN Panel - This is pretty standard for gaming monitors to achieve the 144hz response, 1ms refresh, so its understandable. You can definitely notice with the viewing angles, but its really not as bad as some make it out to be. After calibrating the monitor, this pretty much became a non issue. -Glossy black finish/3D logo - Minor nit picking, but the monitor is almost definitely going to show dust and scratches. The giant 3D logo is printed on the base, so cant remove it, and overall kind of detracts from the otherwise good looking design.

When I was buying this monitor, it was supposed to be the second in my setup. For the price I didnt expect much from it, and assumed my primary monitor will not change (120hz, 3D support, etc.). However, I quickly changed my mind when unboxed it and had a chance to compare. No ghosting and no flickering even when V-Sync is disabled @183Hz. Its OK to expect some flickering when you disable V-Sync, but on this monitor I havent seen it a single time. It depends on the games, though. The brightness is awesome, which is especially important when using 3D goggles. In my setup I could only use 120Hz in 3D, but this was the goggles limitation (NVidia, 1st-gen). After almost 3 years of using it, I still cannot tell anything bad about it. UPDATE. Now, when I use it for more than 6 years, I do have a complaint (not affecting the score though). The way how this monitor talks with the host devices via HDMI/DP drives crazy some of the modern devices. I have a MacBook Pro in the household that crashes to kernel occasionally, being attached to this monitor via MiniDP=>DP cable. It works just fine being attached to a newer monitor. My main system has RTX 2080 video card onboard, and it simply cannot boot with this monitor attached to any port (USB-C/HDMI/DP). I never thought a monitor can affect the host system that bad, but this is a proven fact in my setup. The main system works flawlessly with a newer monitor (Benq), but if I switch it to this monitor (doesnt matter if its a secondary or the only one), the system simply hangs in POST. Its a mystery which Im not going to solve. Ill replace the monitor instead. It fully paid off during these 6 years anyway, so no score penalty. This monitor worths its money.

CONS: Nearly flawless for gaming implementation. Only issue I take with this monitor is that I purchased two of these and I can never quite get the colors to be the same between them and the backlighting varies ever so slightly even if you use the exact same OSD settings. I had to manually tweak both of them to match their colors using two different profiles. It seems that theres a fair amount of color variance between them and the black levels are admittedly not great. PROS: That being said the rest of the monitor is amazing. 144hz is a step up to which I will never go away from. Response time on these are amazing and 24 is a size which you can really lay out on a desk really well without feeling overwhelmed by bezels that are too large. The spring loaded stands these come with are slick and also the potential for 3D viewing is a little plus, although most the utility in this screen comes from playing high octane FPS MMOs and MOBAs. This display really flatters a really good video card and the higher-visuals games with well optimized multiplayer and with heavy and smooth particle effects like Overwatch, HoTS, BF4, BF1, or Dota 2. Im unsure if 144hz would directly impact either CSGO or League of Legends graphically besides input latency, and neither are very graphically intensive (both which I play and although FPS is smoother I cant say it really changes the experience). For single player games I really enjoyed BioShock Infinite, Witcher 3, and Titanfall 2 at 144hz (GeForce 1080). If you play early-access games such as PubG, ARK or Rust you may not see as much (or any) graphical change in 144hz as their games are not very well optimized in FPS for the screen to benefit you, unless you are running a multiple GPU Crossfire or SLI setup such as a 2x GeForce 1080 Tis to get your FPS consistently over 100+.

I like it. For the price that I got it at, I really, really like it. Ive read on a lot of reviews that people dont like the finish and how it attracts dust, I personally dont mind. When I got it I thought, wow people complain so much about such a small detail. But if it matters that much to you then, I dont know then, maybe a different monitor to avoid getting annoyed by the dust it collects? It honestly doesnt collect dust that much if you dust weekly (and my pc set up is in my bedroom so a blanket + carpet flooring by comparison) For the colors that people complain about, I just went into the monitor settings and adjusted the screen color and contrast to the way I find comfortable for my eyes. I did find that the default setting when you first get it did bother my eyes a little bit. If you work with photo shop or other applications and need precise color display then I wouldnt recommend this monitor, it was specifically for gaming for me. I dont have any complaints about the monitor, other than its a bit too big for my desk set up, but I have another monitor so thats my problem. My first 144 Hz monitor, the change in experience is pretty great. Changed my life forever. Im a college student so for this upgrade I felt it was a good deal (I had wanted a pure black monitor to match the pc color scheme and the other ones in the market didnt fall in that criteria) A month into having this monitor, thats pretty much all I have to say I think; will update if I have problems later.

Monitor review will begin with a * infront. So let me first start off by saying this is my 2nd Asus VG248QE. The first one was delivered but within 10 mins of being on my step, police think someone followed the delivery truck and jacked it. It arrived apparently with the monitor not in another box but just a big box with a handle displaying your beautiful monitor. Niceee. So I now have no monitor. After 3 days investigation with USPS and Amazon and the Local PD. We conclude that it was stolen right under my nose while I was home and on my way to grab the box after hearing my text alert. Amazon, thank you again for being 5 star and not only handling this matter but sending me a replacement. I have it now. Its setup and Im just so thrilled. Its beautiful and Im blown away by the clarity. Amazon I will be a customer for life for your awesome and understanding service representatives. Conclusion! Watch packages carefully and set up custom delivery instructions or a safety box to deliver your merchandise safe and sound to prevent this. I bought ring cameras with solar that are rechargeable, wireless, and 1080p. You can get them on Amazon aswell for 220 roughly. Theft wont occur ever again at my step! *monitor is heavy but light. Its a solid quality build. No dead pixels. The visuals are night and day and I was using a pretty good fairly new 60 inch by sharp aquos with 4k. I actually see how a smaller monitor is better for fps! And my oh my do I love this monitor. And yes it flips sideways! All in all. Just buy this one!! PS thank you Amazon for making this difficult transaction very easy!!! P.S.S. whoever stole my monitor. I hope you use it to the full potential and it helped your family out. If you sold it for drugs. Shame on you. Go get a job and learn what it feels like to earn something from hard work. Thank you very much.

I was on the fence buying a TN panel display. I mean come on, its 2017... I can get the same 24 IPS display I bought 5 years ago for half the price I originally payed for it, and half the price of this TN panel. But reading the reviews and studying up on higher framerates, on top of playing competitive pvp games led me to picking up one of these when I needed to replace my main display. I bought into the hype... AND OMG was it worth it. WOW 144 Hz what a difference. IMMEDIATELY after setting the monitor refresh rate on my NVidia GTX 1060 to 144 Hz I knew I made the right choice. I sat there in awe moving my mouse around the screen so smoothly and crisply. You wouldnt think youd pick up the difference but I can easily see it just by moving my mouse around on my new and old monitors side by side. Obviously gaming-wise the difference is just as well, Battlerite at 144Hz is perfection. Color-wise, no doubt this panel competes with my old IPS ASUS displays (VE247H & an older VH236H). Side by side I dont even notice a difference after tuning the settings and colors, if anything the blacks look even better on the VG248QE. Im stunned. Just know that, like all of the ASUS monitors Ive used, the VG248QE needs some significant tuning to get the colors / levels set correctly. The last thing Ill talk about is the stand. My older ASUS monitors have fixed stands with no height adjustment or rotation. The added advantage of the rotation and height adjustments are super nice and I didnt realize what I was missing. The base of the display has an integrated rotation feature, really high quality.

This monitor is hands down the best one I have ever tried. The performance is top tier. The gamefast input is insane! I feel like I can actually react! The frames go high and the colors are so vibrant. Honestly the best monitor for competitive gaming.
