I was very excited for the RT-AX88U. I even bought two with the intention of creating a nice mesh network in my house. Unfortunately, I find it simply can’t deliver on its promises. I ended up returning both units and reinstalling my old Orbi RBR50.

I just sent customer support a long email. I got this yesterday, super excited about having a state-of-the-art router to replace my 2-year-old Netgear thats dropping constantly. Im not an IT expert by any stretch, but Im pretty good with computers/networking and can usually figure stuff out. Wirecutter says that this router is probably overkill for someone like me, but overkill is what I want in a wifi setup in a house with four internet users.

in order to use features such as AiProtection, Traffic analyzer, Apps analyzer, Adaptive QoS, Game Boost and Web history, you HAVE TO agree to let spyware from trend micro collect your personal information. what B.S. If Asus is going to require this, at least make it known up front so people can make an informed decision before installing and setup. Ill repeat, what B.S. I disconnected and returned it immediately.

Surprisingly easy to set up/install. So far weve gotten a massive wifi boost throughout the house. Impressive.

Im a long time Asus user and I am replacing a four year old Asus AC router. It works great but over the years the number of devices in my household has increased significantly (almost 50 devices) and many of them are Chromecasts streaming Hulu Live TV. The older router would max out on memory and CPU and sometimes disrupt our activities. I decided to upgrade to a router with more performance and decided to future proof it a bit and spend the extra money to get an AX/WiFi-6 compatible router.

It maintained the same quality of previous versions with the improvement of the new wifi standard.

Within a couple of months, it began dropping wifi repeatedly. It also has difficultly reaching all the way through a 1900 sq ft single level home. We added a booster to help the weak spots, but the booster couldnt stay connected to it either. Sent it back as defective and got a different brand. ASUS used to be great. Not this time.

Wifi was not gigabit like the ports. Got another one from Amazon. Asus could do nothing with tech support.
