Arctic Silver 5 AS5-3.5G Thermal Paste

was using some radioshack thermal paste before temps would reach 83c while running prime 95 for 30 mins or more applied this and the highest temp ive recorded so far is 71c on the first startup..they say something about 200hours of thermal cycles for best cooling which should bring it down 2-5c more i cannot vouch for this yet but i am very happy already with a 12c drop in temps...alot of people think you need alot of paste or otherwise apply it incorrectly..you only need about a pea size amount spread it evenly over the cpu making sure none gets on the sides or bottom i use a plastic card such as an id or credit card to spread the paste...if you leave valleys or otherwise apply it incorrectly you can expect to have higher in some cases dangerously high temps.

Its not really necessary, but its still a good product. My only complaint is that the arrival date was pushed back four times and it finally arrived two and a half weeks after I ordered it, rather than the 4 days it should have taken. It set me back on my pc build, but I learned that the thermal paste really doesnt matter as long as you dont have horribly bad fans. You definitely NEED thermal paste, but you can use the provided paste that comes with your pc cooler. However, its cheap enough to be a decent alternative if you truly want to make sure that the paste lasts. As far as a decrease in CPU temperature, it only reduced it by about 0.5 degrees Fahrenheit. Its a LOT easier to apply.

My laptop had burned off its original thermal paste and I have to say I think this stuff is better than what they used. Computer running nice, cool, and safe now

Worked great for an old office computer we swapped motherboards on. I never measured temps at it was not a concern (being an office PC that wasnt being pushed) but it hasnt had heat problems since the swap soooooo.... thats a plus
