The specs on the monitor are mediocre with it not being able to reliably hit 144hz with it being more in line with 120hz, the colours are fine but the screen doesnt get very bright at around 250 nits brightness. Youre mostly buying this for 1440p resolution and ultrawide experience at a very cheap price, which it serves extremely well. I actually had the first panel come in defective with the monitor only briefly popping on then being completely dark. Costumer support was super friendly and got me a replacement quickly.

We bought this to run 120 on our ps5. We get max frames. Graphics are great and bright. There is no delay.

This is my first curved monitor and being I wear glasses for reading, it took a bit to get used to. My peripheral vision was a bit bothered for awhile. As for the monitor, it has your basic controls, from the power button to the adjustments, they are all on the bottom right and better seen with a flashlight. The controls dont adjust a lot, but enough to make it comfortable to use. I had an issue while gaming (key words while gaming), the monitor crashed, it went black and the power light shut off...I could hear the game still playing, so I knew it wasnt my computer. It rebooted itself and I played on. Then it crashed again 2 more times in roughly an hour. I was done playing, so I shut it down for the night. The next morning I found and contacted AOC with a support ticket on 9 Aug 22, ..its 13 Aug 22, and Ive yet to receive a reply. I stated what happened and inquired if I should have the monitor on certain settings for gaming, is all I asked. I also stated what my computer was and it used the GeForce video card that this said it was made for. Since those 3 crashes, it hasnt done it again, but I havent played a lot. It seems fine just for standard web, video and business use. If I receive a response to this support ticket, I will update this review. Michael Burgess review on 9 Jan 22, states about going to UFO Test to check out the refresh rates. Basically it confirms, you get what you pay for, this is not a high end platform. **UPDATE 4 Sept** So, finally got a response 19 Aug., by then the Amazon return policy had expired. The respondent was quite helpful though. They even got me a copy of the instruction manual, which wasnt in the box. But, though that I tried to reset it and use different settings, it crashed again and I requested an RMA. Well, here we go again, its been 6 days and I havent even been told if they are going to replace it, refurbish it, or refund me? *NOTE* I lowered my rating as well. **UPDATE 11 Sept** Well, since AOC was dragging their feet to get back to me, I contacted Amazon who had removed the No returns after 15 days notice. They quickly asked what I wanted to do, I said an exchange would be fine and they had me the new one the next day. I had the other returned the evening before. Ironically, AOC contacts me the next day saying I didnt provide all the information required. I told them I had and it was right there in the conversation record, and I told them Amazon took care of this already, ..yesterday. The new monitor has much better color, even without adjustments, now Ill have to see if this one crashes. Hopefully all I received was just one bad unit?

The AOC CU34G3S looks fantastic - vibrant colors and deep black tones on this Samsung-manufactured panel. The curve was too much at first but I got used to it and now love it. The extra screen real-estate is perfect for work and immersive gaming. I also like that all the monitor settings can be controlled from the AOC G-Menu software, and profile presets can apply to individual programs. But unfortunately there is a black screen flicker with FreeSync. Ive tried limiting frames and the black-screening persists. The issue is not present with FreeSync off, but that causes another issue: screen tearing and flickering horizontal lines. Not sure if I just received a bad unit, but its really unfortunate because I did want to like this monitor due to its wide gamut and color accuracy. There is also a dead pixel on the right-middle of the screen (despite the zero bright/dead pixel guarantee). Ordered a second one and will update my review if these issues are resolved with the replacement. Update: Replacement resolved the above issues. I do recommend this monitor. No issues from the past couple weeks I’ve used it.

The monitor arrived with a very noticeable black line on the left side of display. No damage to the amazon box or the aoc box inside. Made sure to set the resolution, and aspect ratio right. It seems like this is a very common issue unfortunately and I hope AOC figures this out, as Im sure this impacts their business. I will be returning in hope to replace the defective monitor with a functioning one. Other than that the color on this monitor was quite inpressive. Lots of ghosting and not the best shades but this is expected of a budget monitor. For the color, design, and price of the monitor I figure it might be worth the slight headache. Will be sure to update when replacement arrives

A great purchase even at its MSRP of 450.00. Ill run through the pros and cons. Pros -Adjustability – height, swivel, and tilt - the swivel was the only one that was too resistant, I couldnt swivel it without moving the feet of the base, even though it is capable of rotating a few degrees, but not a big deal for me. -Curvature – 1500R is a bit more aggressive than the usual 1800R (meaning, 1800mm or 1.8m radius) – for me this works great since the display is so wide on the sides that the more aggressive curvature works better to face the user at a more desirable angle. -Picture quality – to my everyman’s eye the pictures are fine if oversaturated a little bit. If anyone has the best OSD picture settings suggestions for this display, I’d love your input. -Adaptive Sync – with my RTX 2070 the G-Sync works flawlessly without any flickering or additional adjustments. The adaptive sync option was enabled out of the box for me. -144hz Refresh Rate – this is where the display shines for me, coupled with the adaptive sync feature. No more super annoying and horrible looking screen tears while gaming. -Viewing Angle – the side to side viewing angle is excellent, and with the curved surface area it’s even better, there’s no discernible off-axis desaturation for me. Cons -Design – personal preference completely, but I would have liked the design to be more “productivity” based, or more business-like. But the design is not horribly “gamer-y” either. -OSD – the controls are located toward the bottom right of the frame with five discrete buttons. They are poorly spaced so it’s difficult to distinguish by feel and are very clunky to operate. -Documentation – I wish the manual contained more information about what each specific setting does. There’s hardly any documentation included, other than the basic setup, which is practically useless. This is a fantastic display with all its wonderful features, especially at its price point. Just look at the list of pros vs cons. The pros are all the reasons you would choose to get a monitor of this kind. Now that I’ve experienced 21:9 I cannot go back to 16:9 configuration (as a very, very casual gamer). The ultra-wide orientation is also great for video editing. The only thing I would wish for is now for the monitor to get larger in size at a similar price point. Highly recommended. This replaced my Dell 2716DG, a gsync 144hz 2560x1440p TN monitor. I had always wanted to get an ultrawide, but couldnt bring myself to spend more than 500 dollars. This monitor was released and had the features I wanted at the price point I wanted. As with most monitors, the secret sauce is in the settings. Ive never had a monitor that didnt look better after some settings tweaks. This monitor has freesync instead of gsync. When I first used gsync in 2016 it became a must have feature. Then I built a new rig and moved from Windows 7 to 10. Windows sometimes breaks gsync, making the price premium for it no longer part of my purchasing decision. While this monitor isnt gsync certified you can enable it via the Nvidia control panel. At first I would get intermittent black screens that would last a few seconds with gsync enabled. Needless to say this was ruining my gaming experience, so I looked for a solution. First I downloaded new drivers from AOCs website and manually installed them. Problem persisted. Then I updated the driver on my 1080ti. Problem persisted. I tried using a program to change the freesync range which some people claimed helped. No dice. Finally I found a solution that worked: 1. Make sure freesync is set to ON in your monitors onboard controls 2. Right click on the desktop and go to the Nvidia control panel 3. Set up gsync in Set Up G-Sync 4. Select Manage 3D settings. 5. Change Monitor Technology to Fixed Refresh 6. Select the Program Settings tab within manage 3D settings 7. Select the game you want to run 8. Change Monitor Technology to G-sync 9. Do this for every game you want to play with G-sync For some reason this works. No more black screens! My rig is Windows 10, 9900K, 1080ti with latest drivers. Coming from a TN the colors were a bit better, but it wasnt a life changing experience. Apparently my previous monitor was dialed in pretty good. The pixel response isnt as fast as my old TN, but after a few days I dont notice it anymore. If you arent Mr. E-Sports tournament guy it wont matter. If you are that kind of guy you probably arent even looking at this monitor as an option. Now for the bad. The monitor often needs more brightness. Even with brightness set at 100 I still find myself upping the brightness in game settings. If a game doesnt have a brightness slider you can use Picture Boost in the monitors on board settings. This is a great option. So why put it in the bad section of the review? The monitor doesnt remember this setting when you turn it off. If you need it for a game you have to reset it every damn time. AOC needs to update their firmware to fix this. Its keeping this good monitor from being truly great. Every time I want to play Assault Android Cactus I have to mess with this. Not cool. Beyond the black screen workaround and the picture boost not being saved Im happy with this monitor. It was great step up from my 27 inch TN, and now I can never go back to regular sized monitors. Size does matter. It will probably be another four years until a 4K with comparable features is released at a reasonable price. I wont be allowed to purchase another monitor until then since my sister in law dimed me out and pointed out to the wife my new toy. Thats the last time she stays with us during her spring break.

Pros: - That price! $450 for these specs is a steal. - 3440 x 1440 resolution at 144hz is absolutely stunning. The added screen real estate in games and desktop use is phenomenal. - Freesync appears to work almost flawlessly in most games tested I have tested. - This monitor comes calibrated from the factory, and AOC even includes a calibration report. Mine was calibrated in SRGB mode, which I would assume most others will be as well. They claim delta Es under 3, averaging 0.51. I dont have the gear to test this claim, but by eye it appears to be very accurate. - The contrast is about where you would expect a VA panel to be, which is always good. - Gets plenty bright for those of us who like to use their computers in bright rooms. - This monitor shows up as having 10 bit color depth, though it is potentially 8 bit with dithering (which is still great). - Great uniformity. There are no issues with grey uniformity and the screen brightness is very uniform. - More options than most monitors! Always good to see. - If you like black frame insertion, this monitor has it. - Setting up the stand only requires 1 screw and it attaches to the monitor tool-less. - Has all of the useful adjustments you would want in a monitor. - Standard AC power cord! By all means, this is a minor point, but its a very nice convenience. - Basic HDR support is technically a pro. Cons: - HDR support on this monitor doesnt do much, 400 nits isnt terribly bright for HDR, theres no local dimming and Windows support is terrible. Maxing the brightness will probably give you a less buggy experience than what HDR adds. - Black uniformity, while better than most monitors (especially curved ones), does still have a very small amount of clouding mostly around the left and right edges of the display. - Response times. I dont consider myself someone who notices ghosting much, but I can notice some of it on this monitor. Setting the overdrive to medium gets rid of most of it, though if youre more sensitive to ghosting you will likely still notice it. Setting overdrive to strong will give you overshoot, but not as much ghosting. - AOCs decision to continue to use 4 buttons along the bottom of the display for the OSD is extremely unfortunate. A joystick would have been far better. You can somewhat circumvent it by downloading the G-Menu software from their website, but you shouldnt have to install software to change settings easily. - The construction is mostly plastic. I dont think this a deal breaker, and it feels sturdy by plastic standards, but it is worth mentioning. - Viewing angles arent as good as an IPS display if you frequently work off-center or have a multi-monitor setup. - BFI noticeably dims the monitor, and it cannot be used with adaptive sync. If you would like both of these features, the ASUS VG27AQ allows this, though that display is not an ultrawide.
