Decided to go with the older AOC G2 unit rather than the new G3 unit. G2 unit can run up to 144mhz. fast enough. Video card only does 100mhz. Didnt the 165mhz that the G3 does. Plus didnt need the speakers and usb hub. Rather spend the money on what I will use. Also the G2 unit had a better review average with way more samples. Very pleased with the AOX G2 monitor at this time. Two months into usage. Definitely way better than my 24inch Asus flat screen. Would purchase again

My son and I are getting into PC gaming and I looked around for monitors and was a little shocked by how much people are willing to spend. I stumbled on the 32 model and its been great. Many of the reviews talk about needing to fine tune the picture when setting up, but I didnt find that necessary at all. Theyre probably hardcore gamers. In any event, if you dont have a grand to drop on a monitor you cant go wrong with this one.

The price is attractive, but the actual image quality is poor and the 1000R curve radius is too tight. It does work fine for gaming and web browsing, but if youre looking for pro-grade color representation (or even just hobbyist-grade) you need to look elsewhere. I dont see any dead/stuck pixels. It seems okay at the white/black extremes, but in grays the blotchy-ness is obvious (see photo). The 1000R curve is so tight that the perspective distortion on the outer edges is distracting rather than immersive. I have an ultrawide 1500R monitor, and I think that 1500 might be the perfect radius at this size, not 1000. For reference, I sit 26 inches away from the screen. This review is for the AOC CU34G3S 34 Frameless Curved Ultrawide Gaming Monitor, WQHD 3440 x1440, 165Hz.

Hooked this monitor up to my laptop, and the settings via HDMI were right on. NO adjustments, no dead pixels, no distortion, so nothing but a great looking monitor display. I put 4 or more windows up and can easily see all of them. the CURVE is perfect for viewing. The base is BIG, but as a SECOND 34 inch monitor on my desk, it just slides right in there on the left, and the height adjustment matches perfectly. Now I can put my remote desktop on one monitor on the left and on the right is my work displays. It does take a bit getting used to the 3440x1440 as the font is a bit small (by default), but that is the benefit of this wide screen. Overall, I am amazed at what it looks like and I have been told that AOC just keeps on running, with very few issues. My first one is still running like a CHAMP. I would recommend anyone to at least get one. If you have the desk space, do two. For the Gaming one at 165MHZ i havent tried it yet, BUT it has USB 3.x connectors. A definite PLUS for charging, and plugging in the other items I have on the desk.

Pros: - That price! $450 for these specs is a steal. - 3440 x 1440 resolution at 144hz is absolutely stunning. The added screen real estate in games and desktop use is phenomenal. - Freesync appears to work almost flawlessly in most games tested I have tested. - This monitor comes calibrated from the factory, and AOC even includes a calibration report. Mine was calibrated in SRGB mode, which I would assume most others will be as well. They claim delta Es under 3, averaging 0.51. I dont have the gear to test this claim, but by eye it appears to be very accurate. - The contrast is about where you would expect a VA panel to be, which is always good. - Gets plenty bright for those of us who like to use their computers in bright rooms. - This monitor shows up as having 10 bit color depth, though it is potentially 8 bit with dithering (which is still great). - Great uniformity. There are no issues with grey uniformity and the screen brightness is very uniform. - More options than most monitors! Always good to see. - If you like black frame insertion, this monitor has it. - Setting up the stand only requires 1 screw and it attaches to the monitor tool-less. - Has all of the useful adjustments you would want in a monitor. - Standard AC power cord! By all means, this is a minor point, but its a very nice convenience. - Basic HDR support is technically a pro. Cons: - HDR support on this monitor doesnt do much, 400 nits isnt terribly bright for HDR, theres no local dimming and Windows support is terrible. Maxing the brightness will probably give you a less buggy experience than what HDR adds. - Black uniformity, while better than most monitors (especially curved ones), does still have a very small amount of clouding mostly around the left and right edges of the display. - Response times. I dont consider myself someone who notices ghosting much, but I can notice some of it on this monitor. Setting the overdrive to medium gets rid of most of it, though if youre more sensitive to ghosting you will likely still notice it. Setting overdrive to strong will give you overshoot, but not as much ghosting. - AOCs decision to continue to use 4 buttons along the bottom of the display for the OSD is extremely unfortunate. A joystick would have been far better. You can somewhat circumvent it by downloading the G-Menu software from their website, but you shouldnt have to install software to change settings easily. - The construction is mostly plastic. I dont think this a deal breaker, and it feels sturdy by plastic standards, but it is worth mentioning. - Viewing angles arent as good as an IPS display if you frequently work off-center or have a multi-monitor setup. - BFI noticeably dims the monitor, and it cannot be used with adaptive sync. If you would like both of these features, the ASUS VG27AQ allows this, though that display is not an ultrawide.

I rarely give negative reviews, but I never was able to get this monitor to work for more than a few minutes. It arrived on time and very well packaged in foam, looked like it was factory new. I was eager to use it as it comes with 2 Display Port Inputs; unusual for this type of monitor. I have 3 machines, two with Display Ports and one Hdmi. It worked right out of the box for 10 minutes using Display Ports. When I attempted to switch over to my Windows 10 Tower, Hdmi 1.4 with the OSD, it went downhill fast from there. The OSD menu is a horizontal strip along the bottom of the screen using left and right arrow to navigate and up and down to select. That in itself is not a problem except that the menu buttons are tiny and slightly recessed behind the lower front bezel edge. I struggled to use the buttons with my fat fingers and had to increase the timeout and still had some difficulty navigating the menu. I spent enough time that it should have gotten easier with familiarity, but it remained clumsy and unwieldy. I hesitate to make a big deal out of it, but Ive used dozens of monitors, some more user-friendly than others and never had this much trouble. If everything else was working it would not have been a problem as once its all set up, you probably would not need it to use the Menu except to switch inputs. Because of the problem I was having, I spent some time trying in vain to switch to HDMI when finally I couldnt get a menu screen at all. I suspect that it may be some OSD setting about DDC/CI or hardware that may be simple to fix. with 20/20 hindsight I should have used the Factory HDMI cable before returning it. but there is no good reason to be totally locked out from the OSD Menu as it never has been a problem with any other monitor, so I decided that for this reason alone I didnt want to mess with it. To have this occur right out of the box is probably rare and it did start out just fine, so theres no reason to assume that this product would not work well for a majority of users. The specs for this monitor are really good, and I suspect that if used with Display Port on a single PC, it should work out well for gaming. I never got that far as the HDMI was inconsistent, and with the on/off LED indicator lit, (i.e. the monitor is powered on), and three active inputs, when I tried to switch between the them, the menu screen would not come up at all and I was unable to use the monitor with a blank screen with no way to access the menu. Now the Display Ports are also down. Recall that it did work for a while. The picture was good and I was pleased for as long as it lasted, before I started having problems. My Hdmi cables were labeled 4k cables I bought at Best Buy so I assumed they were OK so I didnt use the cable that came with the monitor, as mine worked fine with the same setup on another 21:9 monitor. That I could not get access to the OSD menu is a sure indication that the monitor is not recognizing the HDMI input. No input signal, no OSD. No OSD no way to switch input back to a working display port, Catch 22! I believe this to be a design flaw in the menu system that could be averted by having a little red reset button providing a means of mechanically resetting the system to a workable default state. A real manual with enough information to avoid trouble would be nice. I tried all the usual steps to breath some life into it, Power cycle, check cables with another monitor etc. Power PCs off/on. Nothing to be done. Dead in the water. Bad cable? Maybe something to do with DDC/CI but at this stage you absolutely must be able to use the menu, again, Catch 22! Ive used a lot of devices that got poor ratings from others, where they were 5 stars for me. Certainly not all the same products will be unusable. This is the first time in twenty years of online purchases that Ive had a fatal failure, so I consider myself fortunate and am not upset. Because I had a problem does not mean its inevitable that others will have the same experience; so I rated it with three stars instead of one. Walter O.

Okay i will take just a minute to review the whole thing. So straight to the point. Nice OK monitor for movie and content creation. Amazing for gaming. The curve is nice. Not too power hungry. BUT, navigation throughout the menu is real pain. It’s a nightmare to me to increase/reduce the brightness of the monitor because of very bad switch position. 7/10

If youve been wanting to make the plunge to 21:9 Ultrawide but dont want to spend 700 to a 1000 (entry, some are double the price), this is the monitor. I got mine for $370 on black friday, but the mid $400s they are current asking is still a steal. First off, the specs are out of this world and they hold true. 3440 x 1440p is the best resolution you can get without going 4k, and with 4k you need a proper rig to run games at decent FPS. Check your CPU tho, if its older it might struggle a bit with this res, but not much. 1ms response time is pretty much best available, the 1500R curve is simply the best balance between a nice curve and not feeling like you are surrounded. Its not flat, but appears somewhat flat while viewing, but theres just the right amount of curve. The colors are nice, very accurate. Doesnt quite pop like an IPS panel, but it looks fantastic. Even in mid 2022, 1440p gaming is still considered the sweet spot unless youve got the budget for a $300 CPU and $1,200 GPU, not counting RAM, MOBO etc... The onboard controls could be a tad better, and are difficult in low light until you memorize the button patterns, but that is easily forgivable. The brightness is well bright, I never go over 70 even in a well lit room. Overall, I cant say enough about this monitor, AOC really hit it out of the park with this model. Its kind of been glossed over by the thousands upon thousands of dollars for an LG or Samsung, and thats a shame, because AOC should be praised for what theyve done here. No dead pixels, everything has been beyond smooth, easily the best monitor Ive ever owned, Ill NEVER go back to a flat panel. Oh and did I mention this thing is 34 inches? Most monitors with these specs are 1080p 27 flats, or maybe a 32 if your are lucky. As a gamer for over 20 years, I promise, do yourself a favor and pick this bad boy up.
