It was a great decision to buy this laptop! It loads Windows in less than 5 seconds. I installed a Western Digital 2TB hard drive which was very easy to install and a great compliment to the 258GB SSD pre-installed. I recommend having Acer install it for you if you dont feel comfortable doing it. I installed Steam on the SSD and everything else on the 2TB HDD. I have been able to run the following games on max settings without any lag:

This gaming laptop is a beast! It can handle all the games I throw at it at high to ultra settings. The 144hz monitor looks awesome. When the fans are set to Max its sounds like a leaf blower. With headphones its not noticible and great for lowering temps quickly. The laptop comes with the things youll need to install an additional HD and its easy to install.

The Turbo mode is great. Just watch out for the Nvidia drivers causing trouble. A clean install of Nvidia driver and all is nice!

I replace my laptop about every 5 years or so and usually purchase HP. I thought I would try the Acer this time and load it up for using XPlane. I spend many hours a day on my laptop and the Acer has been very satisfactory.

The new model Helios 300 is a vast improvement over its predecessor, which was a steaming pile of hot garbage. However, some smart people over at Acer decided to fix things, and the result is an excellent laptop at an unbeatable price point. Lets break it down:

Its known that these Acer models have backlight bleeding but some are much worse than others. Mine is pretty bad compared to what Ive seen to youtube, so I will be exchanging my laptop. Make sure to do a backlight bleed check (by making the background all black or go to youtube and use one of their backlight bleeding vids. The specs and the build quality itself are amazing for the Helios - but the screen seems to have some quality issues.

When I first received it I told a friend that the laptop was good. Not great - given the hardware, it should have had better performance, but youre dealing with a budget brand. Little did I realize how true that simple statement was.

Awesome laptop overall. Great buid quality and performance. Perfect general purpose laptop that happens to be good at moderate to heavy gaming. I would say if you are looking for a hardcore gaming laptop its a good budget buy but Id suggest investing a little more for gtx graphics card option but other than that it will run just about any games on moderate settings without a problem. Not the best lap top due to the amount of heat when you put it through the paces but to be expected if your gaming. The turbo button is great and very effective when needed just know as any machine would at full RPMs its fairly loud. Mouse pad is very responsive and smooth, I like how it uses Microsoft drivers so you get their gestures which are standardized. Screen is the only downside with the lack of color gamut and brightness for direct sunlight use or digital creation but will still get the job done. The peripherals give you the option to connect a monitor via HDMI to mitigate this problem if needed. No thunderbolt connection but with the problems this port has Im personally ok with not having it. I would desire an SD card reader because I use this machine for video and photo editing but thats just my preference. I run davinci resolve for video editing and havent had a problem doing 1080p video editing, 4k is doable just requires a little more patience. Overall nothing bad to say about this device highly recommend for anyone wanting a gaming laptop at a reasonable price.

Ive never owned a laptop before so jumping into this entry level premium gaming laptop was a worthy purchase. I am very happy with this buy.
