Great gaming laptop or for everyday use. Had an issue within the first few days; it was only running on one graphics card (I’m lousy with computer speak). It had an issue processing the graphics from the cpu to the Nvidea card. Luckily my son is a wizard with all things computer, and was able to locate an error in a driver and correct it. Now it runs like a rocket. I’m guessing I could have called the tech support number that came with it and they would have handled it as well. Battery life on a full charge gets me 2 hours of usage at best. I’m ok with that because it typically stays plugged in while gaming. I’m told that settings can be changed to go into a low power mode while running on battery to help. Since it is running two fans at performance settings and a battery hungry graphics card, it’s a trade off that’s fair. For a gamer, it has the hardware to pretty much do it all. It gives you way more features for the cost than pretty much anything else.

What you get for the cost is hard to beat with the Helios 300, but ultimately the heating of this laptop was just too extreme that I had to return it. The temperatures of the CPU were way too high at idle and awful under load. I was regularly seeing 60-70 degrees C without anything open, even after limiting the CPU turbo feature from the control panel. This resulted in a very loud computer, even when just web browsing. I’d like to give it the benefit of the doubt, and that the fans/thermal paste/etc on my unit were just installed poorly, but if that’s the case it reflects poorly on Acer’s quality control.

I researched thoroughly before deciding this was the best laptop in the 1k price range. I am not disappointed. Great laptop. Runs smooth. Fan kicks into high gear when in streaming but thats okay and was expected.

Is it just my unit or does the keyboard on this laptop really suck?

I bought this originally to use with my OCULUS Rift, this is one of three laptops in this category that because of the available Display Port and it runs on high settings no issues. Since the Beginning of this pandemic this has been my workhorse and everyday tool, super reliable and lasts long work hours zero issues zero complaints. One recommendation is that it NEEDS a cooling pad with fans since it runs hot when using the OCULUS Rift, this is a must have. laptop runs normal temp during daily use but needs fans for graphics intensive work. love this thing! :)

This hands down is the best laptop I gave ever owned. For the base model it comes with a RTX 2060. The 16 GB is nice and you can update to 32 GB if you want. The extra M.2 and SATA slots address great for upgrades.
