Id love to show the colors, but the monitor died today at less than 4 months. From what I remember: the colors are washed out and ugly; correcting them takes a bit of effort (and that doesnt guarantee youll ever get the colors right). Brightness is average, I guess. My Asus that was half the price of this looks so much better as far as colors go and brightness. The speakers are... complete garbage. If you like blasting sound out of Apple Earbuds (the ones that come for free with iPhones/iTouches), then these are for you cause thats what it sounds like. You absolutely need headphones or separate speakers for these. As a 144 Hz, it does its job and can go up to 144 Hz. Not much else to say there. My biggest issue is it is a load of crap and mine died within 4 months, and the only thing it did was sit on my desk. If it goes to sleep, it will be unable to receive signal from your PC and is pretty much dead. I managed to get it working again by powering it off, replugging the DP cable, etc., but it just decided to completely die today and wont get signal regardless what I do. Im looking to get it repaired so I can sell it off and buy a quality monitor. I guess I only have myself to blame for trying to cheap out on something as important as a monitor and buying this hunk of crap. As you can see in my picture, there is dust resting on the stand from how little I interacted with it physically. It did not break because I jostled it too much or anything of that sort; left alone it decided to just die. Do yourself a favor and spend a bit more to buy one from a more reputable and quality brand.

First off, I really love the 144hz. Its kinda hard to describe how much different a screen is when running at 144hz. Everything is much more real looking. When you drag a window its like dragging a sheet of paper. I also like the adjustability of these screens. They have up, down and forward and back tilt. Where things are not so good is if youre reading text on the screen. Its pretty fuzzy which I suppose is to be expected on a 1080p screen but its not just fuzzy blacks are kinda washed out against white screens. You can try to adjust this but if you fix the black on white problem that creates a problem with darker videos. In essence theyre cheap 144hz screens and it shows for detail work. However, having said that, games look glorious (assuming you can live with 1080p) so if thats your primary use these will rock out for you. Edit: Ive had these monitors quite some time now and I find that while its true the text isnt super sharp its plenty good for most purposes and never really gets in the way of working. Bumped it up to 4 star.

Lets start by saying this is a FREESYNC monitor that is G-SYNC ADAPTIVE. It has the software to correctly interact with the NVIDIA control panel when everything is installed properly but it is not a dedicated G-SYNC monitor. Why does that matter? What could be so bad? Who cares? Well if you are streaming and have two monitors or regularly tab out of game during loading screens to a different monitor the G-SYNC adaptive monitor flickers off, goes black, resets and causes Microsoft to try to reconfigure your monitor settings because now you have 1 less monitor to use. Wait the monitor turns back on but G-Sync isnt on anymore... (you dont notice, youre still wondering what just happened and you watched your black screens for 5 or 10 seconds as they figured themselves back out. So you tab back over to the game not getting to do what you tabbed out to do in the first place. When you tab back into the game G-Sync needs to come back on so the monitor flickers out again, your screens goes black, Microsoft loses its mind, you panic because you know the loading screens between games only last 20 to 30 seconds. The game screen comes back on but your frame rate is wrong because of a software issue. You have to go to settings and change the game from full screen mode to windows mode click apply, then back to full screen mode to fix the FPS issue. If your fast you get all of this done just in time to play. If youre not fast, or youre too confused by what just happened you get shot before picking up any weapon in the game and now you get to start this story over.... So if you get this outstanding monitor for the cost and image quality, its the only monitor you will be using and you dont tab out of game: 5 Stars (But dont buy another or well... read above....) If you bought this outstanding monitor but you tab out alot and use more than one monitor you are going to spend a few weeks trying to find the right settings to edit to minimize this gigantic G-Sync Adaptive Flaw. Bought this monitor back in 2019. Im about to build an entirely new, more powerful PC, and might consider purchasing a bigger monitor. Figured Id leave a review for this monitor as its a beast! I havent had a single problem with this monitor in the 3 years Ive owned it. Highly recommend if youre looking for a 1920x1080, 144hz monitor. Its an Acer, too, so I knew itd last me a long time.

I bought this G-Sync monitor and was extremely excited to get it up and running. The minute I got home from work and plugged it into my video card, things started to go south. First off, my second monitor which was plugged into my VC via HDMI was no longer recognized. I went to reboot to see if that would fix the problem and suddenly my computer had a crash dump, which it hasnt had in 3 years. Once the crash dump was finished processing I decided to reinstall my video card drivers to see if that would fix the issue. Once again, I rebooted, and once again, I got a crash dump. Something about this monitor was conflicting with my video card. I decided to give up on trying to fix that and instead moved on to see how the monitor impacted my gameplay. I booted up Diablo 3 and was prepared to be blown away--but no change. I started to google how to set up my G-sync monitor. Pages upon pages of instructions until I finally found a simple process. I opened my NVidia control panel and went to the place where enabling G-Sync was supposed to be and it wasnt there. I even verified through the NVidia site that my video card supported G-Sync so I was at a loss. Another googled webpage told me to turn on Vertical Sync via my NVidia control panel and that that would enable G-Sync---once again to no avail. I finally called a computer expert friend of mine for some help. He remoted in and tried to do all the same steps I did and wasnt able to find any option to enable G-Sync. He was though, able to go into my monitor setting and turn it up to 144hz, which DID look amazing. But no G-sync for gameplay. So thats all the technical headache. Aesthetically, this monitor has much to be desired and is really showing its age. The monitor is thick, with a thick frame. Doesnt match the look and feel of modern, sleeker monitors. Looked like an ugly stepchild when sitting next to my Dell monitor. Pros: 144hz looks nice Very reasonable price for a monitor Cons: Very difficult to get working properly Not compatible with some NVidia video cards Ugly aesthetics

Recieved one with dead pixels out of the box. However I am getting an exchange. From the short time I used it with the defective pixel, The performance was good. You may need to go adjust your monitor to 144hz as it may be factory set at 60hz. BEWARE nvidia purist! The monitor is not G-sync its AMD freesync. If you are in need for 144hz while on a budget this will do you just fine with no frills. The audio is comparable to a 1999 honda civic with 200,000 miles on it. But Im sure most of you keep your headsets on when you go into incognito mode anyways. Overall its a good budget monitor if you are seeking 144hz with 1080p quality. Otherwise take more shifts at work and get something that doesnt make you feel suspicious and read reviews because you want to be a cheap ass.

Pros: Fast/good refresh, nice build quality, decent price, ergonomics/stand are great for adjustability, comes w/DP cable. Cons: Poor picture quality!! There is no way to get the brightness/contrast right...you can have all the refresh you want, but if you cant see in the shadows and/or sun whats the point? The colors are trash (very washed out/inaccurate). Gamma is crap too. Viewing angles are poor, I know, I know its a TN panel...but this is bad I have this monitor parked right next to my 11yo Dell monitor (also a TN) & it looks so much worse. I was looking for an upgrade to the 11yo monitor I have...this is not it. Side notes: There are tons of ways to adjust the picture, Ive tried them all, it just doesnt have the capability. Also, it has a feature that displays current refresh rate in the upper right corner in big bold yellow letters, which you can turn off in the settings...but if you shut the monitor off (even sleep too) then turn back on the setting reverts every time, very annoying. ...Im going to try swapping the DP cable, currently using the one that came w/it. UPDATE: better cable did not work. Found out the picture issues are related to the refresh rate. I understand this is common in low end monitors If you tune the refresh rate back to 60hz the colors/gamma/contrast improve. Still not great, but better. I hope this helps someone. I researched the crap out of this monitor & no one mentioned this issue.

Ive been actively using this monitor for almost 4 years now. Now that Im working from home, Ive gone back through specifically to find this order to base my next purchase off of. Ive never had any issues, crashes, or bugs with it. The variable height is great and is easy to transport. Big fan and have nothing but good things to say about it both recreationally and professionally.

I spent hours trying various settings and watching videos in an attempt to make this panel look good, unfortunately theres not much information out there on this panel. The ghosting effects are unbearable. The colors are awful, the gamma is awful, the shadows are awful, the refresh rate bounces allover from 50s to over 200 which causes a strange flicker effect on the panel -- It randomly goes from bright to dimmer, back to bright, back to dim, etc. Theres virtually nothing positive worth noting. Ive got a ASUS TUF Gaming 23.8” 1080P Monitor (VG249Q1R) Full HD IPS 165Hz -- It is flawless and beautiful, zero ghosting, vibrant colors, a completely different experience. Ill just go buy another one of those. The 5 star reviews must be for another model, because this Acer Nitro XFA243Y Sbiipr 23.8” Full HD (1920 x 1080) VA Gaming Monitor is not even worthy of a single star. Save up an extra $30-50 and get something better. DO NOT BUY.

Im making this review because this page seems to be review hijacked by Acer and another corporation for a number of different monitors and there doesnt seem to be many reviews specifically about the Acer Nitro XFA243Y Sbiipr . Pros: -Stand is very ergonomic, albeit a bit wobbly at the base even though I tightened the screw -Low black-smear and motion blur thats commonly associated with VA monitors -Good contrast (non-professionally calibrated) -Solid color reproduction (non-professionally calibrated) -Good ports Cons: -Stand has terrible and almost pointless cable management. Theres always going to be at least a couple wires sticking out on either side of the monitor like antenna, and the clip at the back of the base serves basically no purpose for most desk setups. -Display settings in the menu dont save after the monitor wakes up from sleep unless you specifically set it as a profile -VA batman bloom effect seems particularly bad, even for a VA display. Viewing conditions in the dark make any content seem more grayish than its supposed to. It should be noted for any potential buyer of this particular monitor that the coverage on the internet is basically non-existent for it so youre basically SOL when it comes to other reviews, trouble-shooting, or calibration. I usually use sites like RTings for calibration help, but this time I had to painstakingly do it buy eye. Ironically, the IPS version of this monitor (XF243Y Pbmiiprx) is MUCH more popular in terms of reviews and such so If you dont care much about VA Id honestly recommend that one instead, if you can get a good deal on it of course.
