I purchased in Oct 2022. After using the unit for a few weeks, I have concerns about the battery. It gets very hot. The bottom of the unit gets hot enough to be uncomfortable when I have it resting on my chest while surfing (in my recliner). I have a shirt on yet the heat from the bottom is enough to have me looking for a towel to use as a pad. Also, this unit replaced an ASUS chromebook that is years older yet the ASUS seems to load websites faster. Finally, the touchpad is not nearly as sensitive as the ASUS. I often have to tap twice to get a reaction. There also seems to be an occasional issue with loading facebooks short videos. After they load, you cant close the window by clicking x in the upper corner. You have to scroll back using the back arrow on the browser bar. Annoying.

Ive been using this chromebook for about a month now, and its holding up great! One thing I like is that once I logged into my google account, all my previous settings from my old chromebook automatically uploaded (browser theme, desktop background, icon, bookmarks, etc.) It was nice not to have to go through the set up process again, it made for a seamless transition after my old laptop broke. Ive had a chromebook for years, so it was nice to see the consistency across different computers. It felt like an upgraded version of my beloved late laptop, so the transition was painless. I had no trouble adjusting to this one (other than learning the touch screen differences, since my old laptop didnt have a tablet mode).

This is my second Chromebook and, coincidentally, my second Acer. I purchased my first Acer Chromebook (Acer C910-54M1 15.6-Inch LED 1920 x 1080 (Full HD) Chromebook - Intel Core i5 i5-5200U 2.20 GHz - Black) back in June of 2015 as a way to move away from my 13 MacBook Pro. Excellent experience with that particular Acer Chromebook and felt I was ready to step up to something else. So glad I picked this new Acer Spin 13 instead of the Google Pixelbook 2 I originally had my eyes on. Would have made a nice pairing with my Google Pixel 2 XL phone, but the Acer Spin 13 fits the bill nicely. Great screen, excellent backlit keyboard, vibrant colors, serious horsepower, and the battery lasts quite a long time.

its not that great in the shape of a tent, the sound comes out the bottom it stands on, now that i have speakers, i will probably use it that way more.

Yes, Pixelbooks are super-expensive as they can be had for about twice the price of Acers but I would seriously consider Googles if I could afford it for the following reasons:

If you are willing to give up an hour or two of battery life for 2 to 5 times the CPU power, then you are trying to decide between the Lenovo C630 or the Acer Spin 13 (both models run rings around a Pixelbook or Pixel Slate). Both models max out at an Intel I5-8250U CPU, with which comes the whirring of a cooling fan at times. Both have the same RAM, storage, and an IPS screen (Lenovo has a 15.6 screen, the Acer a 13.5 screen). The Lenovo price on Amazon is usually $619, the Acer $749. Why is a smaller panel priced higher than a larger panel for the same CPU, RAM, and storage, you wonder. The answer is ... the 2256 x 1504 screen on the Acer is much better than the Lenovo FHD screen. The difference is not only resolution, but color accuracy and saturation. The whites on the C630 are yellow-white... very noticeble. The whites on the Spin 13 are brilliant white. Ive had multiple Windows laptops from Acer, Asus, Dell, HP, Lenovo, etc., Chromebooks from Asus, Acer, and Lenovo, and many tablets. My summary is: you live with the screen every second you attend to a computer, the keyboard less, and everything else far less (trackpad, CPU, etc.). For that reason, I cannot stand cheap Chromebooks... the screens are horrible. IMO, the Acer screen is more than halfway to a Samsung AMOLED, using the the Lenovo C630 screen as a base, and hits a sweet spot as priced on Amazon. A second factor is size&weight: portability. For me 15 is TOO big, and the 13.5 size of the Lenovo hits a sweet spot for portability. So, having been reluctant to click on $749, I kept using a Samsung Chromebook, even though I wanted a bigger display and MORE POWER. When the Spin 13 went on sale on Pi Day, clicking was immediate... patience rewarded. The Samsung has a new home, as do all the Chromebooks before it, and the occasional whirring of the Spin 13 goes unnoticed.

best device I have ever owned at this point in my life. Fast, looks great, easy to use, responsive touch screen, great resolution, great size, great battery life and looks slick. the only minor complaint is that the speaker comes from the keyboard. I highly recommend the product especially for the price.

This is my first experience with a Chromebook. I have plenty of experience with Mac and Windows laptops, so this is new to me. My first impression is: wow, this is really fast! It starts up in seconds, and programs open up instantly. The battery life is excellent, with around 10 hours from a single charge. The battery life indicator consistently calculates over 10 hours after I fully charge the laptop, so the marketing claim of 10 hours is accurate. The specs on this laptop are pretty impressive and the hardware goes even further because it doesnt have to run the bloat of Windows or MacOS. The operating system is designed such that it wont get bogged down over time. Most of the file storage is cloud-based, and all of your settings, browser bookmarks, etc. are synced to Google Drive by default so you can do a reset of the OS called a Power Wash at any time without losing anything, although I doubt will never need to do this.

Our son set this up in less than 30 min and was able to start working on his homework with it. He likes the touch screen and most of the kids in his 7th grade class have Chromebook laptops. I would suggest going with more expensive FHD version as the 1080 HD isnt as sharp as whats more standard these days. Processing power is more than enough to do everything he needs to in 7th grade. Of course he also uses to play Minecraft as well and says it works well for that. All his Bluetooth devices, mouse headset, etc. work great with it. Overall very pleased with this touch screen laptop and would recommend for 5th grade and above.
