The computer itself and its internals works. V Good 4k monitor. However it is totally unusable without a separate mouse and keyboard and if I have access to those I will use my gaming PC with its twin 27 4K Dell monitors. The keyboard and trackpad are simply unusable. Nontravel on the keys and thentrackpadsimplyn doesnt work. It took meb10 minutesntontgryahdntypenthisnsentence. If this is what you want your emails to look like buy this computer.

I honestly didn’t think it was possible to have as bad of a consumer experience as I’ve had with Dell. I’ve gotten products that were “lemons” before, but each time it’s been fixed with some degree of headache. I had problems with my $2,500 XPS 15 since I opened the box when I was on deployed with the Air Force. I had offline type lag, internet connectivity issues, and screen problems. After I got back to the U.S.A. I sent it back to the repair center a total of four times, had a technician come to my work once, and spent countless hours diagnosing software issues on the phone. New issues arose faster than they could be fixed, everything in the laptop was replaced at least once, yet they refused to give me a refurbished exchange. It took 9 months of pleading with mostly rude customer service and technical support representatives before I had a laptop I could even use. Up until this week (about 9 months after the last repair) my laptop functioned well enough to not make me want to deal with the very troublesome technical and customer service. The laptop would turn on but wouldn’t boot, it would take ten attempts before it would turn on. Then, the other night it wouldn’t boot at all. I called Dell, they refused to give me any sort of technical support over the phone since my warranty had expired. I eventually got the laptop to boot, it crashed. I was able to boot it again and reset the software. It crashed while resetting the software. Long story short, I need my password to sign in, but it deleted my profile and I can’t recover it using my Microsoft account because the laptop needs to be configured to use wifi. It’s a bizarre situation that Best Buy couldn’t easily figure out. Since Dell refused to help me for free and I don’t feel like giving them a fifth chance to make a repair (this time at my own expense) I decided to buy a new laptop 18 months after buying a $2,500 XPS 15. I had it with me while I was buying a new one to see if Best Buy could fix it, and as I was checking out, I smelled something burning. I reached into my bag to grab the laptop and it was so hot I couldn’t even touch it. It literally felt like it came out of an oven. It didn’t have any apps running since it had been partially reset and the fans weren’t even running. You could feel the heat it was radiating from two feet away. The technicians were baffled by both my story with Dell and what they saw my laptop do. I bought Dell’s second most expensive laptop and have been treated like dirt. This isn’t how a reputable company treats their customers, certainly not the ones who buy their premium products.

Simple the best laptop I have owned - working in the tech industry I wanted a powerful laptop with GPU but light weight. The performance is amazing and I am getting 6 hours from the battery.

Dells XPS 15 is a performance laptop aimed at those who need top-of-the line performance while on the go. When choosing a computer for work or college, it is essential to consider screen quality, performance, and build quality. As an experienced laptop user who has experience with multiple brands, I can attest that a device that performs well in all of these categories will result in an excellent experience for the user. The Dell XPS 15 rates highly in each of these categories and is a great choice for any user. Criteria 1: Screen Quality The XPS 15 has a 4k IPS touch-screen with 100% sRGB and InfinityEdge bezeling. The IPS screen displays brighter colors than other panels, and 100% sRGB ensures accurate color reproduction. This makes the Dell a great option if you are doing graphic design or any tasks that require color accuracy. The 4k screen resolution allows you to see text more clearly making the XPS perfect for multitasking. To deliver a 4k resolution in a laptop, the Dell must have impressive performance. Criteria 2: Performance With a top of the line Intel 8th Generation processor and GTX 1050ti graphics, the Dell can handle anything from video rendering to gaming. 16GB of DDR4 RAM coupled with the 8th generation processor allows you to heavily multitask. The graphics card powers the high-resolution screen with very little power consumption, increasing battery life. The XPS 15 packs a 512gb PCIe Solid State Drive allowing for quicker file access and faster reboots, which is necessary for a laptop because you will be turning it off more frequently than a desktop. Criteria 3: Build Quality The build quality of the XPS 15 is top notch. The bezels of the XPS are so thin that it may look fragile, but aluminum and textured plastic give you a sturdy, premium feel. It has seen multiple years of heavy use and a few small drops without an issue. The sides of the computer include all standard ports allowing you to connect to any device easily. Often overlooked, keyboard quality has a tremendous impact on your laptop experience. The XPS has a comfortable standard layout keyboard, with accurate key registration and a very responsive feel while typing. In multiple years, I have had no issue with the keyboard and eventually began to prefer it to typing on my home PC.

It worked well and I loved it for 3 months and then out of nowhere it started crashing with hard drive not installed errors. Also constantly deadlocked/completely froze when trying to fix, requiring it to be forced to shutdown by holding the power. Eventually, I could not restart it and it gave light signals indicating a problem with the CPU. Complete waste of money. The price for the hardware was the selling point, but it was too good to be true.

I finally caved and spent almost $2000 on this laptop. I’ve been using Blender lately, and my old laptop couldn’t handle it. When it runs, it runs great! Super fast rendering. Clear screen with vibrant colors. I love it. What I don’t love is what’s in the attached picture. I have no idea what that is or how to make it go away except rebooting and losing my work. This laptop also gets VERY hot, as well as the charging dock. To the point that I can’t leave it plugged in unless I’m with it because I’m worried it might burn my house down. If somebody could tell me what that glitching is, I’d really appreciate it.

The 32 GB RAM allows me to do the jobs I need and work on multiple projects at once. Ive been very happy with this computer and its functions. Its also very stylish for those which this matters. My only negative I would mention is that battery life is only fair. I was hoping it would be better. Overall you cant go wrong with this purchase.

I’m not leaving a full review, because I can’t unlock the XPS’s capabilities. I can not download the programs I need due to the WiFi chip. From previous reviews, I knew this was an issue before I bought it and I kinda thought Dell would correct the issue for PR reasons. So, as others have done, i’ve ordered the Intel chip to replace the Killer chip. I really was hoping I wouldn’t have this problem because it’s supposed to be an awesome computer. I also don’t want to wait on Dell for the easy fix.
